What do the Flash 100, 300, and 600 settings mean on the ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 landline phone?
Frequently Asked Questions - 01/02/2026
Response Notice-Facile

On the ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 landline phone, the Flash 100, Flash 300, and Flash 600 settings correspond to the duration of the flash signal in milliseconds (ms) that the phone sends during a specific operation.

What is the flash function?

The flash function is used to manage certain telephone functions such as:

  • Call transfer
  • Call waiting
  • Access to your operator's services (e.g., call waiting, conference call)

Meaning of Flash 100, 300, and 600 values

  • Flash 100: flash duration of 100 milliseconds
  • Flash 300: flash duration of 300 milliseconds
  • Flash 600: flash duration of 600 milliseconds

The choice of flash duration must be compatible with the technical requirements of your telephone operator. Some operators require a short flash (100 ms), while others require a longer flash (300 or 600 ms) for functions like call transfer to work correctly.

How to choose the right setting?

If you find that the transfer or hold functions are not working correctly, try changing the flash duration by selecting a different value (100, 300, or 600 ms) until the operation is optimal.

What are the T and P buttons for on the ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 landline phone?
Frequently Asked Questions - 01/02/2026
Response Notice-Facile

The T and P buttons on the ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 are not buttons in the traditional sense, but a selection slider located on the bottom side of the handset. This slider allows you to switch between two dialing modes:

  • T Mode (Tone - DTMF): This is the default mode of the phone. It uses voice frequencies (or tone dialing) to dial numbers. It is the system used on almost all modern telephone networks in France and Europe. In T mode, you can also access advanced telephone services such as voice servers, answering machines, and navigation menus.
  • P Mode (Pulse - Decimal): This is an older mode based on decimal pulse dialing. This system is very rare today but may be necessary on some very old business telephone installations or on specific analog lines.

How to switch between the two modes: Use the tip of a pen or a pointed object to position the slider located on the bottom side of the handset. Place it on the T position for modern voice frequency dialing, or on P for pulse dialing.

In practice, keep the slider in the T position: this is the necessary mode to use your phone with any standard analog telephone line. The P mode should only be used if your telephone operator or business installation explicitly indicates it, which is very rare.

What do the letters on the keys of the ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 fixed phone correspond to?
Frequently Asked Questions - 26/11/2025
Response Notice-Facile

The letters on the keys of the ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 phone correspond to a standardized and universal system used since the origins of the telephone. Each number is associated with a group of letters: key 2 has ABC, key 3 has DEF, key 4 has GHI, key 5 has JKL, key 6 has MNO, key 7 has PQRS, key 8 has TUV, and key 9 has WXYZ. This system allows letters to be entered using the numeric keypad.

The main function of these letters is to enable the dialing of phone numbers that contain letters. You can thus call services whose numbers include alphanumeric letters (for example: 08 00 ABC DEF). To dial these numbers, simply enter the digits corresponding to each letter sequentially, which greatly facilitates the memorization and entry of specialized service numbers.

These letters are also used to consult the phone directory or the phone's address book when it has an alphabetical search function. You can then press the keys with the letters of the name you are looking for (using the numeric correspondence) to access saved contacts more quickly.

On the TEMPORIS 10, the letters can also be used to program speed dial keys, allowing access to frequent contacts with a single button press. The keypad thus follows the international telephone standard that naturally associates letters with numbers to provide better usability.

Does the ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 landline phone allow sending SMS?
Frequently Asked Questions - 26/11/2025
Response Notice-Facile

No, the ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 landline phone does not allow sending SMS. This model is a traditional analog phone designed exclusively for voice calls on a standard landline.

The TEMPORIS 10 is designed to operate on an analog line and does not have a connection to the mobile network. Its features are limited to basic telephone operations: incoming and outgoing calls, phonebook, redial last number, speakerphone function, and ringtone volume adjustment (2 levels).

The device has no Internet connectivity, no mobile data processing capability, and no screen compatible with text message input. It is powered directly by the telephone line (48 V) and only has a small 2-line LCD screen with 16 characters, reserved for displaying the calling number or configuration settings (choice between voice frequency dialing or decimal, flashing time).

The actual functions of the TEMPORIS 10: local and international voice calls, directory storing numbers, redial last number, mute (secret function to temporarily cut off the microphone), ringing light indicator, ability to adjust settings for company PABX.

If you want to send SMS, you need to use a mobile phone or a device connected to a mobile network. The TEMPORIS 10 remains an excellent choice for home or professional use based on voice calls, with the advantage of not requiring any electrical outlet.

Can the ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 landline phone be used without the Internet box being turned on?
Frequently Asked Questions - 26/11/2025
Response Notice-Facile

The ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 landline phone is generally designed to operate in connection with an Internet box, especially in the case of a VoIP (Voice over IP) telephone line. In this context, the box plays an essential role in managing call transmission.

Use without the box turned on:

  • If your phone is connected via the Internet box, it will not be possible to make or receive calls when the box is off or disconnected, as the telephone connection entirely depends on the box.
  • On the other hand, if the phone is plugged directly into a traditional analog telephone line (RJ11 wall socket), it can operate independently of the box.

In summary:

  • For an ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 phone connected via an Internet box, the box must be turned on for the phone to function.
  • If you wish to use a landline phone without relying on the box, a traditional analog telephone line and a phone compatible with this type of connection are required.

This distinction therefore depends on your type of telephone installation and the connection mode of your landline phone.

How to connect the ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 landline phone: to the Internet box or to the wall socket of the fiber optic?
Frequently Asked Questions - 26/11/2025
Response Notice-Facile

The ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 is an analog phone designed to operate on a traditional telephone line. With a fiber optic installation, you must connect the TEMPORIS 10 to the telephone port of your Internet box, and not to the fiber wall socket.

Why to the Internet box and not to the fiber socket: The fiber optic wall socket is only used to connect the box to the fiber infrastructure. It is the Internet box that generates and distributes the analog telephone signal needed for the TEMPORIS 10. The fiber wall socket cannot directly power an analog phone.

Connection steps:

  • Locate on your Internet box the port labeled TEL, PHONE, or featuring the phone symbol. This is usually an RJ11 socket (smaller than the Internet ports).
  • Take the telephone cord provided with the TEMPORIS 10. One end is coiled (for the handset), the other is straight.
  • Plug the straight end of the cord into the telephone port of the box.
  • Plug the other end (coiled) into the socket located at the bottom of the TEMPORIS 10 handset.
  • Make sure your Internet box is turned on and that the telephone port is active (check your operator's documentation if necessary).

Functionality check: Lift the handset and wait for the dial tone. If you hear a clear tone, you can dial a number. If no tone appears, check that the connection is properly inserted into the TEL port of the box and that this service is activated by your fiber operator.

What are the R and P keys for on the ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 landline phone?
Frequently Asked Questions - 26/11/2025
Response Notice-Facile

On the ALCATEL TEMPORIS 10 landline phone, the R and P keys have specific functions that facilitate call management:

R Key (Recall)

The R key is used to manage waiting calls. It allows you to:

  • Put a call on hold to answer a new incoming call.
  • Switch between two active calls.
  • Perform transfer or conference functions depending on your phone line context.

P Key (Pause)

The P key is used to insert a pause when dialing a phone number. This is particularly useful for:

  • Dialing a main number, then inserting a pause before entering an access code, extension number, or identification code.
  • Allowing the phone system to account for the necessary pause between different dialing sequences.

In summary, the R key facilitates the management of multiple calls, while the P key optimizes the dialing of complex numbers with integrated pauses.
