Check the delivery
- Move the appliance to a suitable place and unpack it (see „Start-up“ on page GB-17).
- Remove all parts of the packaging, plastic profiles, tape and foam padding.
- Check that the delivery is complete.
- Check whether the appliance was damaged during transit.
- If the delivery is incomplete or the appliance has been damaged during transport, please contact our Service department (see page GB-24).

Safety
Intended use
This appliance is intended solely for storing wine.
The wine refrigerator is designed for use in private households and is not designed for commercial use or multiple use (e.g.: use by several parties in a block of flats).
The appliance is not a built-in device and is not suitable for insertion into cabinets, etc.
Use the appliance exclusively as described in this user manual. Any other use is deemed improper and may result in damage to property or even personal injury. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage caused by improper use.

Safety notices
In this chapter you will find general safety notices which you must always observe for your own protection and that of third parties. Please also observe the warning notices in the individual chapters.

WARNING
Risks in handling household electrical appliances
Risk of electric shock!
Touching live parts may result in severe injury or death.
■ Only use the appliance indoors. Do not use in wet rooms or in the rain.
■ Do not operate or continue to operate the appliance if
– it shows visible signs of damage, e.g. the power cord is defective,
– it starts smoking or there is a smell of burning,
- it makes unfamiliar noises.
In such cases, remove the mains plug and contact our Service department (see page GB-24).
■ The appliance corresponds to protection class I and may only be connected to a plug with a protective conductor that has been properly installed. When connecting, make sure that it has the right voltage. You can find more detailed information about this on the nameplate.
- Do not connect to a timer or a separate remote-controlled system for distance monitoring and control.
■ The appliance must only be completely disconnected from the power
supply by pulling out the mains plug. The appliance must therefore be connected to an easily accessible socket so that it can be quickly disconnected from the power supply in the event of breakdown.
- Do not kink or pinch the mains cord or lay it over sharp edges. This can result in a break in the cable.
- Keep the mains plug and the mains cord away from open flames and hot surfaces.
■ Always touch the mains plug, not the mains cord.
■ Never touch the mains plug with wet hands.
■ Never immerse the appliance, mains cord or mains plug in water or any other liquids. Never expose electrical equipment to water.
■ If the mains cord of the appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, through customer service or by a qualified specialist. - Inspections and repairs to the appliance may only be carried out by authorised specialists (see „Service“ on page GB-24).
■ Independent or improper repairs made to the appliance may cause damage to property and personal injury; any liability and warranty claims will be forfeited. Never try to repair a defective or suspected defective appliance yourself.
■ Only parts corresponding to the original appliance specifications may be used for repairs. This appliance contains electrical and mechanical parts which are essential for protection against potential sources of danger.
■ In the event of a defect, disconnect the mains plug before carrying out any extensive cleaning work or before repositioning the appliance.
- Do not put any objects in or through the housing openings, and also make sure that children cannot insert any objects in them.
- Check the appliance regularly for damage.
■ Do not remove the LED light covers.
■ Do not attempt to replace the LED light yourself.
Risks to children
Risk of suffocation!
Children can become entangled in the packaging fi lm or swallow small parts and suffocate.
■ Do not allow children to play with the packaging fi lm.
■ Prevent children from pulling small parts off the appliance or putting them in their mouths.
Risks associated with chemical substances
Risk of fire and explosion!
Your appliance's refrigeration circuit contains the environmentally friendly, but fl ammable refrigerant R600a (isobutane).
- Keep the appliance away from open flames and hot surfaces.
■ Mechanical intervention in the refrigeration system must only be carried out by authorised specialists. - Do not damage the refrigeration circuit, for example, by piercing the refrigerant channels of the condensate evaporator with sharp objects, bend-
ing the piping, cutting open the insulation, etc.
■ Refrigerant is flammable when spurting out and can damage the eyes. In this case, rinse your eyes in clean water and seek medical assistance immediately.
■ To prevent the formation of a flammable gas-air mixture in the event of a leakage in the refrigeration circuit, the installation space must have a minimum size of 2.2 m^3 .
Danger of explosion!
Improper handling of chemical substances can lead to explosions.
- Do not store explosive substances or spray cans with flammable propellants inside the appliance, as they may cause ignitable gas-air mixtures to explode.
■ Never use defrosting sprays. They can generate explosive gases.
CAUTION
Risks for certain groups of people
Danger to children and people with impaired physical, sensory or mental abilities!
■ This appliance may be used by children ages 8 and over as well as persons with impaired physical, sensory or mental capacities or those lacking experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed in how to safely use the appliance, and have understood the risks associated with operating it.
■ Cleaning and user maintenance may not be performed by children without supervision.
■ Children must not be allowed to play with the appliance.
■ Make sure children do not have unsupervised access to the appliance.
Risks when dealing with fridge and freezer appliances
Fire hazard!
Improper handling of the appliance can lead to fire and property damage.
■ Only connect the appliance to a properly installed and earthed electric socket.
- Do not connect to a multi-socket extension cable or a multi-socket plug.
■ To ensure adequate air circulation, do not close the ventilation openings in the appliance housing.
- Do not place the appliance directly against the wall. Adhere to minimum distances (see „Choosing a suitable location“ on page GB-17).
Risk of injury!
Improper handling of the appliance may result in injury.
■ The appliance is heavy and bulky. Seek the help of another person when moving the appliance and changing the door hinges.
- Check that entry route and installation location are free of obstacles (e.g. closed doors or objects lying on the floor).
■ Wear protective gloves when moving/installing the appliance and changing the door hinges.
■ Bases, doors, etc. must not be used as steps or for support purposes.
■ Do not place any heavy objects on the appliance.
■ Take care to prevent the risk of tripping when laying the mains cord.
The appliance may not operate properly if exposed to low ambient temperatures for extended periods of time. This can then lead to an increase in temperature inside the appliance.
■ Always abide by the prescribed ambient temperature (see corresponding product data sheet at the end of this user manual).
! NOTICE
Risk of damage
If the appliance has been transported horizontally, lubricant from the compressor may get into the cooling circuit.
- Do not tilt the appliance more than 45° or lay it on its side.
- Allow the cooling unit to stand upright for 2 hours before start-up. The lubricant will flow back into the compressor during this time.
Improper handling of the appliance can lead to property damage.
■ Do not use the door to pull or lift the appliance.
- The appliance must only be placed on a level and firm surface. The surface must be strong enough to support the appliance's weight when fully laden.
- Do not operate the appliance near sinks, taps or containers filled with liquids such as vases, aquariums, etc. Make sure that the device does not get wet.
■ Do not exceed the maximum load bearing capacity:
SC-70W: 17 kg/shelf
SC-98W: 20 kg/shelf
SC-130W: 26 kg/shelf - Do not use sharp or pointed objects to unpack it.
- Do not use any electrical parts inside the appliance’s cooling chamber that do not conform to the manufacturer’s recommended design.
■ Do not use any mechanical devices or means other than those recommended by the manufacturer.
■ When cleaning, please note:
- Never use harsh, granular, soda, acid, solvent-based or abrasive cleaners. These attack the plastic surfaces. All-purpose cleaners with a neutral pH are recommended.
- Door seals and plastic parts are sensitive to oil and grease. Remove contaminants as quickly as possible.
- Do not clean the appliance parts in the dishwasher.
– Use only soft cloths for cleaning.
- Wait 5 minutes after switching off. Only then switch the appliance on again.
■ Only use original accessories.
Operation
Requirements for safe use
- You have read chapter „Safety“ from page GB-6 and understand all the safety notices.
- The appliance is set up and connected as described in chapter „Start-up“ from page GB-17.
Switching the appliance on and off
! NOTICE
Risk of damage!
If the cooling unit has been transported horizontally, lubricant from the compressor may get into the cooling circuit.
- Allow the appliance to stand upright for approx. 2 hours after transport and before connecting.
Switching on
- Insert the mains plug into an easily accessible socket (220–240 V\~ / 50 Hz).
The temperature indicator (14) will light up. The appliance is switched on.
Switching off
-
Disconnect the mains plug from the socket. The temperature indicator (14) will shut off.
The compressor is switched off. The appliance doesn't refrigerate. -
Empty the appliance and clean it (see "Care and maintenance" on page GB-15).
-
Leave the glass door (3) slightly ajar to prevent mould from forming.
Controlling the temperature
The current interior temperature can be read from the temperature indicator (14) while in operation.
If you want to control your temperature setting,
- press the SET function button (13) once. The appliance will beep and the temperature indicator (14) will flash the set temperature.
Setting the temperature
! WARNING
Health hazard!
The appliance may not operate properly if exposed to low ambient temperatures for extended periods of time. This can then lead to an increase in temperature inside the appliance.
■ Always abide by the prescribed ambient temperature (see corresponding product data sheet at the end of this user manual).
Use the control element (2) to set the appliance's inside temperature.
Select the right temperature based on the wine. Further information on the optimum storage temperature can be found in the section „Maintaining quality“ on page GB-14.
You can choose settings ranging from +4°C to +22°C.
- Press the SET function button (13) once. The appliance will beep and the temperature indicator (14) light will begin to flash.
- As long as the temperature indicator is flashing, you can set the temperature.
Decreasing the temperature:
- Push the button to decrease the temperature (15) until the desired temperature appears.
Increasing the temperature:
- Push the button to increase the (9) temperature until the desired temperature appears.

If you hold down the ☑ or button, the temperature indicator will auto-ally scroll through the temperature gs.
- To confirm the temperature selection,
- press the SET button once.
The temperature indicator changes back to display the current interior temperature.
- wait approx. 8 seconds. If no further input is made during this time, the flashing will stop and the setting will be saved.
The current interior temperature will be shown. The desired temperature has been set.
LED light
Switching on
- Push the light switch (12) once. The appliance will beep and the LED light will turn on.
Switching off
- Push the light switch (12) once. The appliance will beep and the LED light will turn off.
Interior equipment
The bottle shelves (7) can be removed and rearranged if necessary.
Removing the shelves
- Lift the rear of the bottle shelf slightly and pull it out.

The presentation box (5), presentation shelf (8) as well as the small bottle (6) can also be removed from the appli-by pulling them out.
Inserting the shelves

- Turn the bottle shelf (7) so that the front and back rails (17) and (16) are facing up.
- Insert the bottle shelf into the side brackets, so that the front rail is facing forward.
- Slide the bottle shelf towards the back of the appliance until it locks into place.
Control indicators
Lighting indicator

The lighting indicator (10) lights up when the LED light is on.
Cooling indicator

The cooling indicator (11) lights up when the compressor is on. The refrigerant flows through the pipes and a quiet humming sound can be heard.
If the appliance makes worrying noises check the solid base and remove any objects that are on top of the appliance.
Storing bottles

WARNING
Danger of explosion!
Improper handling of the appliance can lead to explosions.
- Do not store explosive substances or spray cans with flammable propellants inside the appliance, as they may cause ignitable gas-air mixtures to explode.
Filling the appliance
- Place the bottles in the slots between the wooden rails on the bottle shelf (6) and (7) or presentation shelf (8).
The lock will face forward in the direction of the glass door (3).
- Place the bottles across the top of the presentation box (5) (Model and).
- Make sure that the bottles do not directly touch the interior walls of appliance or the glass door.
- Remove the packaging (e.g. cardboard) before placing items in the appliance.
- Systematically fill the appliance so the wine you want is easy to reach so that you do not have to move the wine bottles around a lot.
- Only store strong alcohol standing upright and closed tightly.
- Make sure that the device is at least 70% filled in order to counteract fluctuations in temperature.
Maximum storage capacity
NOTICE
Risk of damage!
Damage may be caused to the appliance by placing too much weight on the shelves.
■ Do not exceed the maximum load bearing capacity:
SC-70W: 17 kg/shelf
SC-98W: 20 kg/shelf
SC-130W: 26 kg/shelf
The appliance is designed to only hold a certain number of bottles, the so-called nominal capacity.
The nominal capacity indicates how many standard 0.75 litre bottles you can store in the appliance (see corresponding product data sheet at the end of this user manual).
- Abide by the nominal capacity.
Maintaining quality
Storage temperature
The optimum storage temperature varies depending on the type of wine, due to the fact that wines have different shelf lives and age differently.

- Avoid strong and frequent variations in temperature.
- Ensure that there is enough space between the bottles to promote the circulation of air inside the appliance.

The appliance's interior temperatures can increase and lead to increased energy consumption
-
if the glass door is opened frequently or for a prolonged period.
- if the temperature falls below or exceeds the prescribed interior temperature.
- if a large number of bottles is put into storage at once.
- if the appliance's nominal capacity is exceeded.
Storage period
The storage periods of wines differs and is dependent on many factors. The following storage periods can be used as a general guideline:

| Very sweet wines | 15 years or more |
Additional factors
- Make sure to move the wine as little as possible during storage. Frequently moving the wine around can lead to rapid ageing.
- Ensure that the wine is kept as far away as possible from light and stored in the dark.
- Do not turn the LED light (1) on frequently. Exposure to light can affect the taste.
Care and maintenance

WARNING

Touching live parts may result in severe injury or death.
■ Unplug the mains cable before cleaning.
- When pulling out the mains plug, always take hold of the mains plug itself and never the mains cord.

CAUTION
Danger to children and people with impaired physical, sensory or mental abilities!
■ Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they are supervised.
Risk of injury!
Sharp-edged appliance parts beneath the appliance may lead to cuts.
■ Exercise caution when cleaning the appliance.

NOTICE

The surfaces and appliance parts can be damaged through improper handling.
■ Never use harsh, granular, soda, acid, solvent-based or abrasive cleaners. These attack the plastic surfaces. All-purpose cleaners with a neutral pH are recommended.
■ Door seals and plastic parts are sensitive to oil and grease. Remove contaminants as quickly as possible.
■ Only use soft cloths.
Checking and cleaning door seals
The door seals must be checked regularly so that no air can enter the appliance.
- To test them, clamp a thin piece of paper in various places. The paper should be difficult to pull through at all points.
- If the seal is not uniform everywhere: Warm the seal in the appropriate places in front of you with a hair dryer and pull it out with your fingers.
- Only clean dirty seals with clean water.
Clean exterior
- Coated surfaces
Only use light pH-neutral soapy water.
– Stainless steel surfaces
Use special stainless steel cleaner from a specialist shop. Never use polish.
Cleaning the back of the appliance
Dust deposits on the back of the appliance can affect the appliance's performance and lead to increased energy consumption.
- Remove dust and clean the back of the appliance and the compressor once or twice a year. Use a soft brush to do this.
Cleaning the inside of the appliance

NOTICE
Risk of damage!
Improper cleaning of the appliance parts can lead to damage.
■ Do not clean the appliance parts in the dishwasher.
- Disconnect the mains plug from the socket.
- Take out the wine bottles and temporarily store them in a cool room.
- Remove the presentation box (5) or presentation shelf (8), the bottle shelves (7) and if necessary the small bottle shelf (6).
- Wipe off all parts with a damp cloth. Use lukewarm rinsing water to remove stubborn stains. Wipe down with clean water.
- Dry all parts thoroughly.
- Wash the interior with warm water and washing-up liquid. If ice has formed on the walls, let it thaw.
When wiping clean, add a few drops of vinegar to the water to prevent mould from forming. - Wipe the interior dry and leave the glass door (3) open for a while to air.
- Only clean the door seals with clean water; they are sensitive to oil and fat.
- Replace all removed parts.
- Put the wine bottles back in the appliance.
- Insert the mains plug once again.
Replacing the LED light

WARNING
Risk of electric shock!
Touching live parts may result in severe injury or death.
■ Do not remove the LED light covers.
■ Do not attempt to replace the LED light yourself.
Maintenance-free LEDs are used to light the appliance.
If the LED light suddenly malfunctions, contact an authorised professional (see „Service“ on page GB-24).
Start-up
Preparing for start-up
You have read chapter „Safety“ from page GB-6 and understand all the safety notices.
Moving and unpacking
WARNING
Risk of suffocation!
Children can become entangled in the packaging fi lm or swallow small parts and suffocate.
■ Do not allow children to play with the packaging fi lm.
■ Prevent children from pulling small parts off the device or taking them out of the accessory bag and putting them in their mouths.

Improper handling of the appliance may result in injury.
■ The appliance is heavy and bulky. Seek the help of another person when moving the appliance.
■ Bases, doors, etc. must not be used as steps or for support purposes.

Improper handling of the appliance may result in damage.

- Unpack the appliance and carefully remove all packaging, plastic moulding, adhesive strips, protective film and foam padding from the inside, outside and back of the appliance.
Choosing a suitable location

The appliance may not operate properly if exposed to low ambient temperatures for extended periods of time. This can then lead to an increase in temperature inside the appliance.

- To prevent the formation of a flammable gas-air mixture in the event of a leakage in the refrigeration circuit, the installation space must have a minimum size of 2.2m^3 .
- The appliance must only be placed on a level and firm surface. The surface must be strong enough to support the appliance's weight when fully laden.
- Suitable locations are dry, well-ventilated areas that are cool if possible.
- Unsuitable locations are ones with direct sunlight or which are directly next to an oven, hob or radiator.
– The following minimum distances must be maintained:
– from electrical hobs: 5 cm
– from oil and coal burning stoves: 30cm
– from other cooling appliances: 5 cm
– from washing machines/dishwashers: 5 cm
- If you would like to reduce these distances, you can fit an insulation plate between the appliances.
- If underfloor heating is installed at the setup location, place the cooling appliance on an insulation plate made from solid material.
Setting up and aligning the appliance
- Place the appliance on as flat and as firm a base as possible.

To ensure adequate air circulation,

keep the entire space above the appliance free.

do not place the appliance directly against the wall. Leave a gap of at least 10 cm to the back wall and 5 cm to the side.

Check the position with a spirit level.

Level out any unevenness on the ground using both of the front screw feet.

Close the glass door (3).
- Tilt the appliance backwards slightly and screw/unscrew the screw feet (4).
- Stand the appliance back up again and check the alignment with a spirit level. Repeat the process until the appliance is standing up vertically. The appliance should not move when opening the glass door.
Basic cleaning
To remove the odour that comes with all new appliances, clean the appliance before using it (see „Care and maintenance“ on page GB-15).
Connecting the appliance

WARNING
Risk of electric shock!
Touching live parts may result in severe injury or death.
■ Do not operate or continue to operate the appliance if
– it shows visible signs of damage, e.g. the power cord is defective,
– it starts smoking or there is a smell of burning,
- it makes unfamiliar noises.
In such cases, remove the mains plug and contact our Service department (see page GB-24).
- Do not connect to a timer or a separate remote-controlled system for distance monitoring and control.
- Do not kink or pinch the mains cord or lay it over sharp edges. This can result in a break in the cable.

CAUTION
Fire hazard!
Improper handling of the appliance can lead to fire and property damage.
- Only connect the appliance to a properly installed and earthed electric socket. Do not connect to a multi-socket extension cable or a multi-socket plug.

NOTICE
Risk of damage!
If the cooling unit has been transported horizontally, lubricant from the compressor may get into the cooling circuit.
- Allow the appliance to stand upright for approx. 2 hours after transport and before connecting. This allows the lubricant enough time to flow back into the compressor.
- Insert the mains plug into an easily accessible and properly installed socket (220–240 V\~ / 50 Hz). The temperature indicator (14) will light up. The appliance is switched on.

Changing the door hinges
NOTICE
Risk of damage!
Improper handling of the appliance may result in damage.
■ Do not tilt the appliance more than 45^ .
■ Do not lay it on its side.
Depending on the space conditions, you can change the direction of the door hinges on your appliance. This work, however, requires you to have a certain degree of craftsmanship skills. Please read the following steps completely before changing the hinges.
You will need the following tools to change the door hinges:
– medium size cross-tip screwdriver
– medium size flat-headed screwdriver
Removing the glass door
- Ensure that the appliance is not connected to the power supply.
- Remove the presentation box (5) or presentation shelf (8), the bottle shelves (7) and if necessary the small bottle shelf (6).

- Gently push the blanking plate (19) and hinge cover (20) upwards with a slotted screwdriver and remove them. Hold onto the blanking plate and hinge cover.

- Ensure that the glass door (3) cannot slip away and loosen the screws (a) on the upper hinge (21). Use the cross-tip screw-driver.
- Remove the screws and the top hinge and hold onto all parts.
- Lift the glass door up and set it aside.

- Remove the washers (b) from the lower hinge (22).

- Loosen the screws (c) and remove the lower hinge from the appliance.

- Remove the screw (d) and the screw base (4) and screw in both parts on the opposite side.
Installing the glass door

- Tighten the lower hinge (22) on the other side using the screws (c).
- Put the washers (b) on the lower hinge.
- Rotate the glass door (3) 180° and carefully insert it on the lower hinge. Firmly hold onto the glass door. It is still loose.
- Ensure that the glass door is positioned properly. Adjust the door if necessary. Repeat steps 1 to 4.

Tighten the upper hinge (21) with the screws (a).
-
Place the hinge cover (20) on the upper hinge and firmly press it down.
- Insert the blanking plate (19) on the opposite side at the top.
- Check whether the door seal is securely in place (see page GB-15).
- Re-insert the presentation box (5) or presentation shelf (8), the bottle shelves (7) and if necessary the small bottle shelf (6).
Troubleshooting table
Malfunctions can occur in all electrical appliances. This does not necessarily mean there is a defect in the appliance. For this reason, please check the tables to see if you can correct the malfunction.
