SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
-
Before connecting the fridge freezer to mains power, check that the data on the rating plate matches that for the mains. It should be possible to insert the plug directly into the power outlet. An adapter can cause overheating.
-
Do not let water splash onto the fridge freezer. This can lead to malfunctions or electric shocks.
-
If gas is leaking from a container, do not insert or remove the plug. This can lead to sparks and fires.
-
Supervise children and ensure that they cannot play with the appliance.
-
If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, the manufacturer's service representative or a similarly qualified person. This is to prevent the possibility of danger.
-
Keep the ventilation openings in the unit's casing free from obstruction.
-
Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate defrosting – use only those devices/means recommended by the manufacturer.
-
Do not damage the refrigeration circuit.
-
Except where recommended by the manufacturer, do not use electrical appliances inside the unit.
IMPORTANT!
Avoid opening the door too often, especially when the weather is humid and warm. The door should only be open for as short a time as possible.
Regularly check that the unit is adequately ventilated (i.e. there is adequate air circulation behind the appliance).
For domestic refrigerators and freezers in normal temperatures, set the temperature control to a middle position.
Before filling the unit with foodstuffs, ensure that they have cooled to room temperature.
Ice and frost coatings increase energy consumption. Defrost the refrigeration element when the coating is 3 – 5 mm thick.
If the unit has an external condenser on its rear, always keep the condenser free from dust and other contaminants.
Always follow the instructions given in the sections on unit placement and methods for saving energy. If you do not, energy consumption will be far higher than necessary.
INSTALLATION
- When moving it, do not tilt the fridge freezer more than 45^ from the vertical. Do not use force on components such as condensers and doors. This can deform the components and have a negative impact on the fridge freezer's performance.
- For the fridge freezer to work correctly, allow it enough free space on all sides.
- Do not put the fridge freezer in places with high humidity. This can damage the fridge freezer and/or result in it becoming damp and rusty.
Warning! This unit must be connected to an earthed power outlet.
USE
- When using the fridge freezer for the first time, let it run empty until it reaches its minimum temperature and the compressor stops automatically. This usually takes 2 or 3 hours. Next, set the temperature control to the desired temperature and put food into the fridge freezer.
- The temperature in the fridge freezer can be adjusted via the temperature control. In normal cases, it is appropriate to set the temperature control to a middle position.
- Defrost the freezer compartment as soon as the frost layer on the refrigeration element is 3 or 4 mm thick. When defrosting, remove all food and put the temperature control into the "OFF" position. To collect the meltwater, place the drip pan at the bottom of the fridge freezer. When the ice has melted, pour the meltwater away and dry the inside of the fridge freezer. Restart the fridge freezer by turning the temperature control to the desired position.
IMPORTANT FOR USE!
- The more foodstuffs placed inside and the longer the door is left open, the higher the fridge freezer's energy consumption. High loads can give rise to faults.
- Do not place heavy, sharp or rust-prone objects on the shelves.
- If the plug has been removed, wait at least 10 minutes before putting it back in.
- Do not place liquid-containing bottles in the freezer compartment. They can burst under freezing and the liquid can damage the fridge freezer.
- Open the door as little as possible during power outages.
- When defrosting, never use sharp or metal objects to remove ice from the surfaces of the refrigeration element. This can damage the refrigeration element.
- Do not touch foodstuffs and containers in the freezer compartment with your bare hands. They may suffer frost burns.
CLEANING THE FRIDGE FREEZER
Before you start cleaning the fridge freezer, remove the plug from the power outlet. Use lukewarm water and then dry with a soft cloth.
The door seal gets dirty easily and acquires a coating. Clean it often.
THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS ARE NOT FAULTS:
-
A noise of running water. This noise is normal in standard operation.
-
Condensation on the outside. Condensation on the outside is normal when humidity is high. Simply wipe the moisture away.
-
When the fridge freezer has been started, it takes a while for the fridge section and the freezer compartment to reach their set temperatures. If the fridge section and the freezer compartment were warm when the fridge freezer was started, it takes longer for them to reach their set temperatures. If the ambient temperature is high, it takes longer for the fridge section and the freezer compartment to reach their set temperatures.
-
The compressor surface gets hot:
The compressor's surface can get hot in normal use. Do not touch it.
TROUBLESHOOTING METHODS
If a fault should occur, investigate and remedy as set out in the following table.
| Symptom Inspection | |
| No refrigeration Is there a working power supply to the fridge freezer? Is the power supply normal?Has the power outlet become overheated?Has the plug been put in correctly? | |
| Insufficient refrigeration Is the temperature control set correctly? Is there sufficient free space around the fridge freezer?Has the door been opened too often or for too long?Is the fridge freezer exposed to direct sunlight or is it located near to heat sources? Is there too much food in the fridge freezer? Is the food too hot? | |
| Food freezing in the fridge section | Is the temperature control set correctly?Has the food been packed in too tightly? |
| Abnormal noise Is the fridge freezer standing correctly on a firm surface?Has the fridge freezer been subjected to knocks from other objects? | |
| The compressor does not stop automatically | Is too much food being kept in the fridge freezer?Have the doors been opened too often or for too long? |
If none of the above factors seems to be causing the problem, contact our customer service department for immediate help.
LONG BREAKS IN USE
If the fridge freezer is not to be used for some time, do the following:
Disconnect the fridge freezer from the power supply by pulling the plug out of the power outlet.
Clean and dry the interior as per the instructions under the heading "Cleaning the fridge freezer".
To prevent unpleasant smells building up while the fridge freezer is not in use, leave the door open.
MATERIALS RECYCLING
Dispose of packaging materials in accordance with local regulations. Old units still have a certain residual value. Correct and
environment-friendly disposal ensures that valuable raw materials can be recycled and used again.
The refrigerant used in the unit's refrigeration circuit requires special handling as also the insulation materials. Before disposal, ensure that none of the pipes on the rear of the unit are damaged. Your local authority can supply current information on the options for disposing of worn-out units and packaging materials.
