SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Before connecting the freezer to mains power, check that the data on the rating plate matches that for the mains. It should be possible to insert the plug directly into the power outlet. An adapter can cause overheating.

  2. Do not let water splash onto the freezer. This can lead to malfunctions or electric shocks.

  3. If gas is leaking from a container, do not insert or remove the plug. This can lead to sparks and fires.

  4. Supervise children and ensure that they cannot play with the appliance.

  5. If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, the manufacturer's service representative or a similarly qualified person. This is to prevent the possibility of danger.

  6. Keep the ventilation openings in the unit's casing free from obstruction.

  7. Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate defrosting – use only those devices/means recommended by the manufacturer.

  8. Do not damage the refrigeration circuit.

  9. Except where recommended by the manufacturer, do not use electrical appliances inside the unit.

IMPORTANT!

Avoid opening the door too often, especially when the weather is humid and warm. The door should only be open for as short a time as possible.

Regularly check that the unit is adequately ventilated (i.e. there is adequate air circulation behind the appliance).

For domestic refrigerators and freezers in normal temperatures, set the temperature control to a middle position.

Before filling the unit with foodstuffs, ensure that they have cooled to room temperature.

Ice and frost coatings increase energy consumption. Defrost the refrigeration element when the coating is 3 - 5 mm thick.

If the unit has an external condenser on its rear, always keep the condenser free from dust and other contaminants.

Always follow the instructions given in the sections on unit placement and methods for saving energy. If you do not, energy consumption will be far higher than necessary.

INSTALLATION

Position the freezer on a firm surface. To prevent vibration and noise, the freezer's front feet must be adjusted so that the freezer is level.

Select a well-ventilated space where the clearance around the freezer is at least 10 cm.

Do not position the freezer in direct sunlight or near heat sources such as a cooker or a water heater.

Warning! This unit must be connected to an earthed power outlet.

USE

Before plugging in the freezer for the first time, remove all packaging and clean the unit. Dry with a soft cloth.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL

The temperature in the freezer is controlled via the temperature control inside the freezer. To adjust the temperature in the freezer, turn the temperature control to higher or lower values. The control has the markings "MIN", "NOR", "MAX" and "OFF" for the different temperature settings. MIN is the highest temperature and MAX is the lowest.

For normal use, set the control to NOR. If NOR gives a too high or too low a temperature, set the control to another position.

STORING DEEP-FROZEN FOOD

When using the freezer for the first time or after defrosting, set the temperature control to MAX for at least two hours before any foodstuffs are placed in the freezer.

To avoid thawing, all the frozen foodstuffs you buy must be placed in the freezer as soon as possible.

Always follow the storage instructions that the manufacturer prints on the packaging of frozen foodstuffs.

FREEZING FRESH FOODSTUFFS

Ensure that good hygiene is maintained when handling foodstuffs. Freezing does not, in itself, sterilise foodstuffs. It is a good idea to freeze foodstuffs in portions rather than in large packages. Never place hot or once warm foodstuffs in the freezer. When storing frozen foodstuffs, pack the products in plastic bags, aluminium foil or freezer containers and place them in the freezer.

DEFROSTING

Remove the plug from the power outlet, open the door and place all the contents in a cool place. Remove frost and ice with a scraper, or allow the temperature to rise until the ice melts. Wipe away any remaining ice and water. You can then plug the freezer back in.

CLEANING THE FREEZER

Before you start cleaning the freezer, remove the plug from the power outlet.

Use lukewarm water and then dry with a soft cloth.

The door seal gets dirty easily and acquires a coating. Clean it often.

THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS ARE NOT FAULTS:

  • A faint gurgling noise of the refrigerant running through the pipes.
  • High compressor temperature.

TROUBLESHOOTING METHODS

If a fault should occur, investigate and remedy as set out in the following table.

Symptom Inspection
The freezer does not work. - Check that the plug is correctly inserted in the power outlet.- By connecting another unit, check that the power outlet is live.
The freezer makes a noise during operation.- Check that the freezer has been adjusted so that it is level.
The freezer does not get cold enough.- If the door has been opened too often, or if it has been left open for some time, it will take longer for the freezer to reach its set temperature.- Check whether the air flow to the rear of the freezer has been reduced owing to insufficient distance to walls.

If none of the above factors seems to be causing the problem, contact our customer service department for immediate help.

LONG BREAKS IN USE

If the freezer is not to be used for some time, do the following:

Disconnect the freezer from the power supply by pulling the plug out of the power outlet.

Clean and dry the interior as per the instructions under the heading "Cleaning the freezer".

To prevent unpleasant smells building up while the freezer is not in use, leave the door open.

MATERIALS RECYCLING

Dispose of packaging materials in accordance with local regulations. Old units still have a certain residual value. Correct and

environment-friendly disposal ensures that valuable raw materials can be recycled and used again.

The refrigerant used in the unit's refrigeration circuit requires special handling as also the insulation materials. Before disposal, ensure that none of the pipes on the rear of the unit are damaged. Your local authority can supply current information on the options for disposing of worn-out units and packaging materials.
