Frequently Asked Questions - DIM 6104 B BEKO

What type of iron is the Beko DIM 6104 B?
It is a dry iron (no steam function) designed for household use.
Why does the iron smoke or smell when first used?
During first use, the iron may emit smoke and odor due to burning off of manufacturing oils. This is normal and should stop after about 10 minutes.
How do I select the correct temperature for a fabric?
Use the temperature adjustment button and refer to the fabric guide on the iron. Start with low settings for synthetics, then increase for silk, wool, cotton, and finally linen/jean. If unsure, test on an inconspicuous area.
Can I use the iron on delicate fabrics like silk?
Yes, but set the temperature to the lowest setting (synthetic) and iron on the reverse side to prevent shiny marks.
What should I do if the iron does not heat up?
Ensure the iron is plugged into a 220-240 V AC outlet and the temperature dial is turned to a desired setting. If it still doesn't heat, contact an authorized service center.
How do I clean the soleplate?
Unplug and let cool. Wipe the soleplate with a slightly damp cloth. For stubborn residue, use a soft, non-abrasive liquid cleaner. Do not use harsh chemicals or scrubbers.
What safety precautions should I take?
Never leave the iron unattended while plugged in. Keep out of reach of children under 8. Do not use near water or flammable materials. Unplug before cleaning.
Can I use an extension cord?
No, the manual advises against using an extension cord. Plug directly into a grounded outlet with a minimum 16 A fuse.
How should I store the iron?
Allow it to cool completely. Store in a cool, dry place, ideally in its original packaging, out of reach of children. Do not wrap the cord around the iron.
Is the iron repairable?
If damaged, do not attempt to repair yourself. The iron must be taken to an authorized service center. Do not replace the cord yourself.

2 Operation

2.1 Intended use

This appliance is intended only for household use, removing the creases on your clothes and for various textile products including curtains; it is not suitable for professional use.

2.2 Before first use

When using the iron for the first time, you may notice a slight emission of smoke and hear some sounds made by the expanding plastics. This is quite normal and it stops after a short time.

BEKO DIM 6104 B - Before first use - 1

• We also recommend passing the iron over an ordinary cloth before using it for the first time.
- Certain parts of the iron have been lightly greased therefore the iron could give off a little smoke when plugged in for the first time. This will cease after a short while.
- Before using the iron for the first time, remove the plastic protector from the base (if it has one), and clean the base with a soft cloth.
- Keep the base very smooth. Do not run it over metal objects (such as against the ironing board, buttons, zips, etc.)

2.3 Selecting the temperature

- Check the ironing instructions on the garment to be ironed.

  • If the garment does not have any ironing instructions, but you know the kind of fabric in question, use the chart below.
  • Fabrics that have some kind of finish (polishing, wrinkles, contrasts, etc.) can be ironed at the lowest temperature.

2 Operation

  • If the fabric contains several kinds of fibres, always select the lowest temperature that is safe for all of the fibres in the garment. If an article contains 60% polyester and 40% cotton, you must always choose the temperature corresponding to polyester, which is for “Synthetic” fabric type.
  • Start by ironing the articles requiring the lowest temperature such as those made of synthetic fibres. Progress towards those that require the highest temperatures as the iron does not cool down as fast as it heats up.

2.4 Temperature and steam settings table

When setting the temperature of the appliance, consider the following table.

Fabric Type Temperature Setting
Synthetic
Silk
Woolen●●
Cotton●●●
Linen - JeanMax

BEKO DIM 6104 B - Temperature and steam settings table - 1

  • If you don't know the fabric of your garment, first iron an invisible part of your garment and determine a correct ironing temperature for it.
  • In order to prevent the bright stains that may form on the synthetic fabrics such as silk, iron on the reverse side of the fabric.
