    • Do not fill it till it is cold, or it may spit.

CARE AND CLEANING

Cleaning

• Unplug the Stand (1), and let the kettle cool down.
- Wipe the kettle inside and out, with a damp cloth. You may use a little household detergent, but if you do, rinse well to avoid tainting the water. Wipe the Stand (1) with a dry cloth.
- Keep the connectors and sockets dry.
• Take out the filter and wash it clean with water.

Note:

  • Do not put the kettle or Stand (1) in water or any other liquid.
  • Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners or solvents.

De-scaling

Scale build-up will cause the element to overheat, reducing its working life. It may also cause the safety cut-out to operate prematurely, switching the kettle off before the water boils. As the element is mounted beneath the kettle, there are no awkward nooks and crannies for the scale to get a foothold. It can build up only on the walls and floor of the kettle, where it can be seen and dealt with.

To minimize scale build-up:

- Empty the kettle after each use; do not allow water to stand in the kettle overnight; use filtered water instead of ordinary tap water.

  • Descale the kettle regularly using a proprietary brand of descaler suitable for use in kettles. In areas of very hard water descaling may be necessary as often as once a month.
  • When descaling, follow the instructions on the packet of descaler. When descaling has finished, empty the kettle and rinse it out several times with fresh water, then fill with fresh water, boil, and discard the water. This should ensure that no chemical residues are left in the kettle.

Note: Products returned during the guarantee period with faults that are directly related to scale build-up will be subject to a repair charge.

Filter

The scale particles that remain suspended in the water may give it a cloudy or greasy appearance, depending on the hardness of the water.

The filter will prevent these particles passing into your drink. You must ensure that the filter is kept clean and clear of deposits otherwise the performance of your kettle may be adversely affected, your drinks may contain scale particles, and the water inside the kettle may look cloudy.

You should clean the filter whenever there are any noticeable deposits left on it, and especially if pouring is affected in any way.

• Make sure that your hands are clean and free from soap, hand cream, or anything else which might leave a taint.
- Switch the kettle off and let it cool down fully.
- Open the Lid (4).
- Grip the top of the filter and pull it up, out of the kettle. Rinse it under a tap whilst brushing it with a soft brush. Rinse the kettle out with fresh water, in case any scale particles have fallen inside.
- Slide the filter back inside the kettle. Make sure that the filter is fixed firmly. Close the Lid (4).

Note: To prevent damage to the filter, avoid pressing the mesh.
