Frequently Asked Questions - Efficient Power Care BSI-1604 Becken

Can I use distilled water in this iron?
No, only tap water should be used. Distilled or demineralized water makes the anti-scale system ineffective. Do not use chemical additives or scented substances.
How do I clean the iron?
Unplug and let cool. Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth and mild detergent. For self-cleaning, fill tank to max, set steam to 0, heat to max, then hold the cleanout button over a sink to expel impurities. Use every 10-15 days.
What do the temperature dial settings mean?
Low temperature for synthetics (silk, synthetic), medium for wool/silk, high for cotton/linen. Always start with low temperature garments to avoid scorching.
Why does water drip from the soleplate?
This can happen if the temperature is too low for steam use. Ensure the selected temperature is high enough (as marked on the dial) for steam functions. The anti-drip system should activate at low temps to prevent this.
Can I use the iron vertically?
Yes, press the steam button to produce a steam shot for vertical ironing on hung garments or curtains. Only use at high temperatures.
How do I refill the water tank?
Unplug the iron, set steam regulator to 0, open the filler cap, tilt the iron, and slowly pour water using the measure up to the MAX mark (approx. 300 ml). Close cap.
What should I do if the iron is not heating?
Check that it is plugged in and the temperature dial is set. The indicator light turns on during heating and off when ready. If still not heating, contact customer support.
Can I iron fabrics with sequins or embroidery?
Yes, but use the lowest temperature setting and iron on the reverse side to avoid damage.
How should I store the iron?
Unplug, empty the water tank, let it cool completely, wrap the cord loosely using the cord rewinder, and store in an upright position.
What is the warranty coverage?
A 2-year warranty covers manufacturing defects from the date of purchase. Unauthorized repairs or misuse voids the warranty.

Anti-Drip System

With the anti-drip system, you can perfectly iron even the most delicate fabrics. Always iron these fabrics at low temperatures. The plate may cool down to the point where no more steam comes out, but instead drops of boiling water that can leave marks or stains. In these cases, the anti-drip system automatically activates to prevent vaporization, so that you can iron the most delicate fabrics without risk of spoiling or staining them.

BECKEN

Anti-Scale System

A special resin filter inside the water tank softens the water and prevents scale build-up in the plate. The resin filter is permanent and does not need replacing.

Note:

Use tap water only. Distilled and/demineralized water makes the anti-scale system ineffective by altering its physical-chemical characteristics. Do not use chemical additives, scented substances or scale removers. Failure to comply with the above-mentioned instructions will void the guarantee.

2.2. Using the Product

Preparation

Sort the laundry to be ironed according to the international symbols on the garment label, or if this is missing, according to the type of fabric.

GARMENT LABEL FABRIC TTYPE TEMPERATURE DIALREGULATION
Becken Efficient Power Care BSI-1604 - Preparation - 1synthetic low temperature
Becken Efficient Power Care BSI-1604 - Preparation - 2silk - wool medium temperature
Becken Efficient Power Care BSI-1604 - Preparation - 3Cotton - linen high temperature
Becken Efficient Power Care BSI-1604 - Preparation - 4Fabric not to be ironed

Start ironing the garments requiring a low temperature.

This reduces the waiting time (the iron takes less time to heat up than to cool down) and eliminates the risk of scorching the fabric.

Steam Ironing

Filling the Tank

  • Check that the plug is disconnected from the socket.
  • Move the steam regulator (3) to "0" [Fig. 1].
  • Open the cap (2).
  • Raise the tip of the iron to help the water enter the opening without overflowing.
  • Slowly pour the water into the tank using the water measure (12) and taking care not to go over the maximum level (about 300 ml) indicated by “MAX” on the tank [Fig. 2].
  • Close the cap (2).

Selecting the Temperature

  • Place the iron in a vertical position.
  • Plug it into the socket.
  • Adjust the temperature dial (8) according to the international symbol on the garment label [Fig. 3]. The temperature indicator light (9) indicates that the iron is heating. Wait until the temperature indicator light turns off before ironing.

Warning:

when ironing, the temperature indicator light (9) comes on at intervals, indicating that the selected temperature is maintained. If you lower the temperature after ironing at a high temperature, do not start ironing until the temperature indicator light comes on again.

Regulating the Steam

The quantity of steam is regulated by the steam regulator (3).

Move the steam regulator to a position between minimum and maximum depending on the quantity of steam required and the temperature selected [Fig. 1].

Warning:

the iron only gives off steam continuously if you hold the iron horizontally. You can stop the continuous steam by placing the iron in a vertical position or by moving the steam regulator to "0". As indicated on the temperature dial (8), you can only use steam at the highest temperatures. If the selected temperature is too low, water may drip onto the plate.

Selecting a Shot of Steam When Ironing Vertically

Press the steam button (5) to generate a powerful shot of steam that can penetrate the fabrics and smooth the most difficult and tough creases. Wait for a few seconds before pressing again [Fig. 4].

By pressing the steam button at intervals you can also iron vertically (curtains, hung garments, etc.) [Fig. 5].

Warning:

the steam shot function can only be used at high temperatures. Stop using it when the temperature indicator light (9) comes on; then start ironing again only after the light has turned off.

Dry Ironing

To iron without steam, follow the instructions in the “Steam Ironing” section, leaving the steam regulator (3) on position “0”.

Spray Function

Make sure that there is water in the tank. Press the spray button (4) slowly (for a dense spray) or quickly (for a vaporized spray) [Fig. 6].

Warning:

for delicate fabrics, we recommend moistening the fabric beforehand using the spray button (4), or putting a damp cloth between the iron and the fabric. To avoid staining, do not use the spray on silk or synthetic fabrics.

Storage

  • Disconnect the plug from the power outlet.
  • Empty the tank by turning the iron upside down and gently shaking it.
  • Leave the iron to cool down completely.
  • Roll up the power cord with the rewinder [Fig. 8].
    • Always store the iron in a vertical position.

Advice for Good Ironing

  • We recommend using the lowest temperatures with fabrics that have unusual finishes (sequins, embroidery, flush, etc.).
  • If the fabric is mixed (e.g. 40% cotton, 60% synthetics), set the thermostat to the temperature of the fiber requiring the lower temperature.
  • If you don't know the composition of the fabric, determine the suitable temperature by testing on a hidden corner of the garment. Start with a low temperature and increase it gradually until it reaches the ideal temperature.
  • Never iron areas with traces of perspiration or other marks: the heat of the plate fixes the stains on the fabric, making them permanent.
  • The size is more effective if you use a dry iron at a moderate temperature: excess heat scorches it with the risk of forming a yellow mark.
    • To avoid marking silk, woolen or shiny synthetic garments, iron them inside out.
  • To avoid marking shiny velvet garments, iron in one direction (following the fiber) and do not press down on the iron.
  • The more the washing machine is loaded, the more garments come out creased. This also happens when the spin drying speed is very high.
  • Many fabrics are easier to iron if they are not completely dry.
  • For example, silk should always be ironed damp.
