How to adjust the temperature in the freezer?

Turn the temperature selector with a coin. Position 1 is the warmest, position 6 the coldest.

What does the red alarm light mean?

The red 'alarm' display indicates the temperature inside is too warm (approx. -9°C). Avoid opening the lid frequently and check if the ventilation openings are blocked.

How to use the super freeze function?

Press the super button several hours before freezing fresh food. The yellow display lights up. This runs the compressor continuously for rapid freezing.

How often should I defrost the freezer?

Defrost when a layer of hoarfrost accumulates. Switch on super freeze 4 hours before, remove food, pull out the drain stoppers, and let the water drain. Clean and dry before restarting.

Can I use electrical appliances to defrost?

No. Never use heaters, steam cleaners, or sharp objects to remove ice. They can damage the refrigerant circuit and cause fire or injury.

What causes thick frost along the upper edge?

Check the defrost water stoppers are inserted correctly, ensure transportation protection devices are removed, and avoid frequent lid openings.

How to change the interior light bulb?

Pull out the mains plug, remove the bulb cover (Fig. 8), replace with a 220-240 V, E14 bulb of the same wattage.

What should I do if the green power indicator is off?

Check if the mains plug is connected, the fuse is on, and there is power. The appliance may have been switched off.

How to save energy with this freezer?

Install in a cool, dry place away from heat sources. Open the lid briefly. Use eco mode if partially loaded. Defrost regularly and clean the rear ventilation.

What are normal operating noises?

Humming from the compressor, bubbling or gurgling from refrigerant flow, and clicking when switching on/off are normal. Ensure the appliance is level and not touching furniture.

If the ambient temperature drops below the lower ambient temperature limit, the running time of there refrigerating unit is reduced. As a result, the freezer compartment is not adequately refrigerated. The frozen food may thaw in extreme cases.

Installing the appliance

Installtheapplianceinadry,well ventilatedroom.Theinstallationlocation shouldneitherbeexposedtodirect sunlightnornearaheatsource,e.g. a cooker,radiator,etc.lfinstallationnext toaheatsourceisunavoidable,use a suitableinsulatingplateorobservethe following minimum distances to a heat source:

Theflooroftheinstallationlocationmust notgiveway;ifrequired,reinforcefloor.

Alignappliancewithaspiritlevel.

If the floor is uneven, compensate with supports.

Ifrequired, secure the appliance to prevent it from rolling away.

If the appliance is placed next to the wall, there must be a minimum distance of 70 mmbetween the wall and rear panel or side panels.

Removing the transportation protectiondevices

Removethefourtransportationprotection devices, Fig. 3, which are attached between the chest freezer lid and appliance.

Inserttwoofthesetransportation protectiondevicesintothedesignated holdersatthebackoftheappliance. This maintains the minimum distance betweentheapplianceandthewall,the chestfreezerlidcanbeopenedcorrectly andventilationisguaranteed.

Connecting the appliance

Afterinstallingtheappliance,waitatleast 12 hourbeforeswitchingonthe appliance.Duringtransportationtheoilin thecompressormayhaveflowedinto the refrigerationsystem.

Beforeswitchingontheapplianceforthe firsttime,cleantheinterior (see Cleaning).

Thesocketshouldbefreelyaccessible. Connecttheapplianceto220-240 V/50 Hzalternatingcurrentviaacorrectly installedearthedsocket. Thesocketmust befusedwitha10to16Afuse.

Forappliancesoperatedinnon-European countries, the identification plates should be checked whether the electricity supply and the current model stated match the valesofthemainssupply. These specifications can be found on the rating plate. Fig. 11

Themainsconnectioncablemaybe replacedbyanelectricianonly.

Warning!

Neverconnecttheappliancetoelectronic energysaverplugsortopowerinverters whichconvertthedirectcurrentto230 V alternatingcurrent(e.g.solarequipment, powersuppliesonships).

The following products are suitable for sealing the wrapped food:

Rubberbands, plasticclips, string, cold-resistantadhesivetape. Bagsandpolyethyleneblownfilmcanbe sealedwithafilmsealer.

Freezingfreshfood

Intheprefreezercompartment, Fig. 1/12, fresh food is frozen especially quickly and therefore also gently. Distributethefoodoverthebottomand alongthesidepanelsoftheprefreezer compartment. Already frozen food must not come into contact with food which is tobefrozen. If required, restack frozen food in the storage compartment.

If more food is frozenthan there is space in the pre-freezer compartment, the left side of the bottom of the storage compartment can be used for freezing.

Fastfreezing

Inordertoretainthevitamins,nutritional value,appearanceandflavourfood shouldbefrozenasquicklyaspossible. Donotexceedthemax.freezing capacity.Vitamins,nutritionalvalues, appearanceandtastearetherefore retained.

Topreventanundesirabletemperature risewhenplacingfreshfoodinthefreezer compartment,switchonfastfreeze severalhoursbeforehand.

Asarule, 4-6 hoursisadequate.

Ifmax.freezingcapacityistobeutilised, 24 hoursarerequired.

Storingfood

Glassbottlescontainingliquidswhich mayfreezemustnotbestoredinthe appliance.Bottleswillcrack. Attention!

Donotstackfoodabovetheloweredge of the cover frame. Fig. 1/11 Ensurethatthestoragetemperature is at least-18 °C.

If the temperature in the appliancerises dueto a fault or power failure, check whether the produce has started to thaw.

Donotrefreezethawedfood.Exception: If youusethefoodtomakeareadymeal (boilingorfrying),youcanrefreezethis readymeal.

Thepartitionpreventsfoodwhichistobe frozenintheprefreezercompartment fromcomingintocontactwithalready frozenfoodinthestoragecompartment.

If the partition is pulled out and placed on the bottom of the chest freezer, small item soffrozen food, e.g. strawberries, can be frozen quickly and above all individually. When defrosting the appliance, the partition can be placed under the drain aged to catch the defrostwater.

Defrosting

Alayeroffrostonthecontainerwalls impairsrefrigerationofthefrozenfood andincreasespowerconsumption. Removethelayerofhoarfrostregularly.

Thawingtheappliance

• Approx. 4 hours before defrosting switch on fast freezeto ensure that the food is frozensolid.
• Thenremovefrozenfoodandwrapin severallayersofnewspaperora blanketandstoreinacoollocation.
• Opentheliidandpulloutthemains plug.
• Pullout outerdrainagestopper, Fig. 7/1, take flat tray or, if available, appliance partition, Fig. 7/2, out of the appliance, placeunderthedrainage holetocatchthedefrostwater, Fig. 7/3, andpullouttheinner drainagestopper, Fig. 7/4.
• Afterdefrosting, cleantheappliance andwipetheinsidedry.
• Close defrost water drainage with both stoppers, insert partition, connect appliance and put back frozen food.

Tips for saving energy

• Install appliance in a cool, dry, well ventilated room but not indirect sunlight and not near a heat source (e.g. radiator, cooker, etc.). If required, use an insulating plate.
• Leave warm food to cool down before placing it in the appliance!

• Occasionallycleantherearofthe appliancewithavacuumcleaneror paintbrushtopreventanincreased powerconsumption.
• Ifonlyaveragequantitiesoffood (approx. 40%–60%ofthemaximum freezingcapacity) are frozen, the food can be placed in the appliance 6 hours aftersuperfreezingwasswitchedon and then superfreezing can be switched off.
• If the appliance is only partially loaded (for appliances with partition no higher than "e" mark on the partition), load with food which uses the "eco" setting.
