4. BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE FOR THE FIRST TIME

  • Before using your coffee maker for the first time, familiarise yourself with all the parts. Read all instructions carefully.
  • Open the container lid (2) upwards (fig 2), take out the filter and the

filter holder (fig. 3) and clean them together with the jug and the jug lid in warm soapy water, rinse well, dry and reassemble.

To clean the inside, operate the coffee maker once or twice without putting ground coffee in the filter. For this process, follow the instructions under the heading "Preparing the coffee".

5. PREPARING THE COFFEE

  • Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable surface.
  • Open the container lid (2) upwards (fig 2) and fill it with clean, cold water up to the desired level. Do not exceed the container's maximum level.
  • Fill the permanent filter (9) with the amount of ground coffee you need and close the lid. We suggest one level dessertspoonful of ground coffee for each cup of coffee. After using the coffee maker several times, you may adjust the amount of coffee to taste.
  • Place the jug onto the hotplate (5) with its lid properly on. The jug will open the antidrip valve; if not, the filtered coffee will not flow through to the jug and will overflow out of the filter.

  • Connect the coffee maker by pressing the switch (8). The red pilot light will come on.
  • The switch light will indicate that the appliance is in operation. The water will start to filter through the coffee maker, flowing into the jug.
  • When the coffee is ready, the Model CF-1000 hotplate (5) will keep the coffee hot. With model CTI-915, the thermal jug (12) will keep the coffee hot even when you switch off the coffee maker.
  • Disconnect the coffee maker by pressing the on/off switch (8).
Unplug the appliance from the mains.
  • The coffee maker is provided with an antidrip system to prevent the coffee from dripping onto the plate when the jug is not correctly in place or when it is taken away from the appliance.

6. TIPS FOR A GOOD CUP OF COFFEE

To give your coffee a better taste and aroma, we advise using recently ground coffee. The coffee used should be medium ground and not too fine.

Store your coffee in a dry place. Once the packet of coffee has been opened, keep it tightly closed in the refrigerator so as to maintain its aroma.

With Model CF-1000, although the hotplate will keep your coffee hot, the best cup of coffee is obtained by drinking it as soon as it is made.

7. THERMAL JUG (mod. CTI-915)

This jug allows you to keep your coffee hot for several hours.

To serve the coffee, press the tab on the lid (13) (Fig. 4).

To open the lid, turn it anticlockwise (Fig. 5). To close it, line up the lines on the jug and the lid and press while turning clockwise.

8. AROMA CONTROL

With the aroma control button it is possible to regulate the strength of the aroma of the prepared coffee. You may select from a gradual range of mild to strong.

9. CLEANING YOUR COFFEE MAKER

Before cleaning your coffee maker, switch the on/off switch off, unplug the appliance and leave it to cool. Clean the filter holder (9), the filter (8), the jug (4) and the jug lid (3) in warm soapy water, rinse them in clean water and dry the parts before reassembling them.

Clean the outside of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not use detergents or abrasive products to clean it.

Do not immerse the appliance in water or run it under the tap.

10. REMOVING LIMESCALE

Depending on how hard the water in your area is and how often you use your coffee maker, it is possible that its pipes may become blocked due to the lime content of the water you use. This becomes noticeable when the filter process lasts longer than usual. To avoid this, you should remove the limescale from your coffee maker. To do so, use a limescale remover suitable for coffee makers, which are readily available on the market.
