Important Safety Instructions

NOTES ON HANDLING:

• When shipping the DVD player, always use the original shipping carton and packing materials. For maximum protection, repack the unit as it was originally packed at the factory.
• Do not use volatile liquids, such as insect spray, near the DVD player. Do not leave rubber or plastic products in contact with the DVD player for a long time. They will leave marks on the finish.
• The top and rear panels of the DVD player may become warm after a long period of use. This is normal and not a malfunction.
• When the DVD player is not in use, be sure to remove the disc and turn off the power.

NOTES ON LOCATING THE DVD PLAYER:

- When you place this DVD player near a TV, radio or VCR, the playback picture may become poor and the sound may be distorted. In this case, move the DVD player away from the TV, radio or VCR.

NOTES ON CLEANING:

Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning

• For stubborn dirt, soak the cloth in a weak detergent solution, wring well and wipe. Use a dry cloth to wipe it dry. Do not use any type of solvent, such as thinner and benzene, as this may damage the surface of the DVD player.
• If you use a chemical-saturated cloth to clean the unit, follow that product's instructions.

NOTES ON MOISTURE CONDENSATION:

Moisture condensation damages the DVD player. Please read the following carefully.

- Moisture condensation occurs, for example, when you pour a cold drink into a glass on a warm day. Drops of water form on the outside of the glass. In the same way, moisture may condense on the optical pick-up lens inside this unit, one of the most crucial internal parts of the DVD player.

Moisture condensation occurs during the following cases:

• When you bring the DVD player directly from a cold place to a warm place.
• When you use the DVD player in a room where you just turned on the heater, or a place where the cold wind from the air conditioner directly hits the unit.
• In summer, when you use the DVD player in a hot and humid place just after you moved the unit from an air conditioned room.
• When you use the DVD player in a humid place.

Do not use the DVD player where moisture condensation may occur.

- If you use the DVD player in such a situation, it may damage discs and internal parts. Remove the disc, connect the power cord of the DVD player to the wall outlet, turn on the DVD player and leave it ON for two or three hours. After two or three hours, the DVD player will have warmed up and evaporated any moisture. Keep the DVD player connected to the wall outlet and moisture condensation will seldom occur.

Operating the Remote Control

Battery Installation

1. Press the tabs on the back door and lift off.
2. Insert two AAA size batteries into the battery compartment as shown in the illustration. Match the (+) and (−) polarity symbol markings inside the battery compartment.
3. Replace the battery door.

BATTERY PRECAUTIONS:

• Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or battery leakage, which could cause fire, personal injury or damage to property.
  • Only use the battery type indicated in this manual.
• When the batteries are exhausted, the remote will not function. Replace both batteries at the same time with new ones. Do not install new batteries with used ones and do not mix different types of batteries.
• Do not dispose of used batteries as domestic waste. Dispose of them in accordance with local regulations.

HANDLING THE REMOTE CONTROL:

• Take care of your fingernails when you press and hold the battery release tab.
• Do not drop or cause impact to the remote control.
• Do not spill water or any liquid on the remote control.
• Do not place the remote control on a wet object.
- Do not place the remote control under direct sunlight or near sources of excessive heat.
- Remove the batteries from the remote control before storing it for a long period of time. This will reduce the chance of corrosion or battery leakage which could result in physical injury and/or property damage including fire.

Remote Control Operation Range

Point the remote control at the DVD player no more than 5 metres from the remote control sensor and within 60° of the front of the DVD player. The operating distance may vary depending on the brightness of the room.

When connecting any external AV device or TV, do not connect the power cable to the mains power socket until all other connections are complete.

Operating System

Playback of a DVD

Unless otherwise stated, all operations described are based on Remote Control use.

1. Insert the AC plug from the DVD player to a conveniently located AC outlet.
2. Connect the DVD player to the external TV Turn on the TV and set it to the input source that the DVD player is connected to.
3. Press the ⏻ POWER button to turn the player on.
4. Press the ▲ OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray. Place the disc in the center of tray with the label side face up. Close the tray by pressing the▲ OPEN/CLOSE button. The unit will start playback automatically.
5. Press the ■ STOP button to stop playback. The player will remember the point where disc was stopped. If you press the ▶ button again, playback will start from this point. To stop playback completely or to start again from the beginning, press the ■ STOP button twice.

Note: If the player will not be used for a long period of time, turn off the player and unplug the AC Cord from the wall outlet.

SEARCH (FWD, REV)

During playback, press either the ▶ button or the ◀ to move the DVD forward backward at double (x2) speed to locate a specific section. Repeatedly prethese buttons and the speed will increase to x4, x8, x16, x32, then resume normal playback. Resume normal playback by pressing the ▶ II button on the remote control or the ▶ II button on the unit.

Note: This function is not available on all discs.

SKIP (NEXT, PREV)

While a disc is playing, you can skip forward or backward a chapter or track at any time by pressing the ◀◀ PREV or ▶▶ NEXT button.

LANGUAGE:

Press the LANGUAGE button repeatedly to selected available language/sound channels. Note: This function is not available on all discs.

SUBTITLE:

Press the SUBTITLE button repeatedly to select the subtitle language or turn the subtitle menu off. Note: This function is not available on all discs.

MENU:

Press the MENU button; the menu of the current DVD will appear on the screen. Press the ▲, ▼, ◀, ▶ direction buttons to select the desired option, and then press the ENTER button to confirm the selection. Note: This function is not available on all discs.

TITLE

Press the TITLE button; the title menu of the current DVD will appear on the screen. Use the ▲, ▼, ◀, ▶ direction buttons to select the desired option, then press the ENTER button to confirm the selection. Note: This function is not available on all discs.

Operating System

OSD (ON SCREEN DISPLAY)

During playback, press the OSD button repeatedly to read the information of playback status.

ZOOM

During movie playback, press the ZOOM button repeatedly to zoom in the picture by ZOOM X2, ZOOM X4, then ZOOM X1.

ANGLE

If the multi-angle icon appears on the screen, it means more than one scene is available on the current DVD. Press the ANGLE button repeatedly to select the desired scenes. Note: This function is not available on all discs.

MUTE

Press the MUTE button to temporarily disable sound from the DVD player. Press it again to restore the sound.

VIDEO

Press the VIDEO button repeatedly to set video output modes.

STEP

During movie playback, press the STEP button repeatedly to play the movie frame by frame. Resume normal playback by pressing the ▶II PLAY/PAUSE button on the remote control or ▶II play/pause button on the unit.

SLOW

During movie playback, press the SLOW button to slow down by x1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32.

N/P

Press the N/P button to set the TV system to NTSC/PAL/AUTO accordingly.

REPEAT

During movie playing, press REPEAT button to repeat chapter /title/all.

A-B Repeat

Repeat a section between points A and B within a Title / Chapter / Track.

1. Press the A-B button to choose a starting point A.
2. Press the A-B button again to set an ending point B and complete the setting. The selected section will be repeated from point A to B.
3. Press the A-B button a third time to cancel and exit.

WIDE

During movie playback, press the WIDE button to switch aspect ratio to 4:3PS, 4:3LB or 16:9.

GOTO

1. During playback, press the GOTO button to search the title / chapter in the disc.
2. Press the button again to display the search menu.
3. Press the ◀▶ buttons repeatedly to select the select the title / chapter.
4. Press the 0-9, 10+ buttons to select title / chapter.

NOTE: DVD Disc can not be programmed. NOTE: DVD Disc can not be prograr

Programming

1. During VCD Disc playing, press the MENU Button on remote control repeatedly until "PCB Off" appears on screen.

2. Press the "PROG" Button to view the Program List screen (see below).

1. Use the Direction arrow buttons to select a position in the Program List (e.g., 2), then press the RIGHT arrow to move to the "Title" column on the right. Select a track (e.g., 01) and press ENTER to confirm. (Press ■ STOP on the remote to clear any mistakes when programming.)

1. After programming, press the "OK" Button to play the programmed tracks as desired.

Press the SETUP button; the setting menu will appear on the screen (see below). Use the Direction buttons to select and highlight the function you need to adjust. Press the ENTER button to confirm the selection.

When you are done, press the SETUP button to save your changes and exit.

\~Interval Time: Select a time to set the interval time for photo playing.
\~Transition Effect: change the photo slideshow effect (Mask, Dissolve, Fade in, Fade out, or Random).
\~Show Type: Change the display mode to Fit Screen (fits the photo to the screen) or Full Screen (stretches the photo to fill the whole screen).
\~Color Tone: Apply a color filter. Normal (none), Black & White, or Classic.
\~Browse: Change the way you browse the photos on the disc. Thumbnail (small picture preview) or File Manage (file names).

\~If TV Standard is selected, use the direction and ENTER buttons to set to PAL, AUTO or NTSC to match the color system of the connected TV. (Note: Select AUTO or NTSC in the US, Canada, and Mexico).
\~If Display Type is selected, use the direction and ENTER buttons to set the aspect ratio to 4:3PS (pan & scan), 4:3LB (letterboxed), or 16:9.
\~If Video Output is selected, use the direction and ENTER buttons to enable YUV P-SCAN (480p progressive scan) /YUV(interlaced scan) when the DVD player is using the component video connection (Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr).
\~If HDMI Resolution is selected, use the direction and ENTER buttons to adjust the resolution output to match the native resolution of your TV.
\~If Sharpness is selected, use the direction and ENTER buttons to adjust image sharpness.
\~If Contrast is selected, use the direction and ENTER buttons to adjust the contrast level.
\~If Brightness is selected, use the direction and ENTER buttons to adjust to brightness level.

1. If Digital Out is selected, use the direction and ENTER buttons to set the output of the coaxial digital audio connector. Use SPIDF/PCM when connected to a TV or other device that cannot decode digital audio. Use SPIDF/RAW when connecting to a stereo system or other device that can decode digital audio.
2. Analog Out default setting is 2 channel (i.e., stereo).
3. If Downmix is selected, use the direction and ENTER buttons to set how the player processes DVDs encoded with Dolby 5.1 surround sound for simpler 2-speaker environments.

--Lo/Ro: The rear left/right channels are kept separate. The rear left channel will play on the left speaker; the rear right channel will play on the right speaker.
--Lt/Rt: The rear left/right channels are mixed together. The mixed output will play on the left and right speakers.
--Auto: the speaker will play automatically without limitation.

1. Set the screen saver to On or Off.

2. Angle Mark: when playing a multi-angle disc, set angle mark to on, the multi-angle effect will be shown on screen.

3. If Default is selected, use the direction and ENTER buttons to reset all options to their default setting or press the SETUP button to exit.

Care and Maintenance

CARING FOR DISCS

Treat the disc carefully. Handle the disc only by its edges.

Never allow your fingers to contact the shiny, unprinted side of the disc.

• Do not attach adhesive tape, stickers, etc. to the disc label.
- Clean the disc periodically with a soft, lint-free,dry cloth, Never use detergents or abrasive cleaners to clean the disc. If necessary, use a CD cleaning kit.
- If a disc skips or gets stuck on a section of the disc, it is probably dirty or damaged(scratched).
- When cleaning the disc, wipe in straight lines from the center of the disc to the outer edge of the disc. Never wipe in circular motions.

• Discs should be stored in their cases after each use to avoid damage.
- Do not expose discs to direct sunlight, high temperatures or dust, etc. Prolonged exposure or extreme temperatures can warp the disc.
- Do not stick or write anything on either side of the disc. Sharp writing instruments, or the ink, may damage the surface.

CLEANING THE UNIT

• To prevent fire or shock hazard, disconnect your unit from the AC power source when cleaning.
- The finish on your unit may be cleaned with a dust cloth and cared for as any other furniture. Use caution when cleaning and wiping the plastic parts.
• Mild soap and a damp cloth may be used on the front panel.

Troubleshooting Guide

CHECK THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS BEFORE REQUESTING SERVICE:

No power. AC cord is unplugged. Plug AC cord into an AC outlet.
Power is on, but unit is not functioning properly.	Condensation has formed. Unplug the unit and wait about 1-2 hours for unit to dry out.
	Wrong type of disc, or the disc is corrupt.	Try other discs.
	The disc is dirty or inserted incorrectly.	Clean disc and re-insert with label side up.
No picture and/or no sound.	The connection cables are not installed correctly.	Re-install the cables.
	Settings on the video output of the player are incorrect.	Press the VIDEO button repeatedly until the correct picture displays on the TV.
	The connected TV may be turned off.	Turn the power strip on (if used). Turn the TV on.
Playback picture is rolling	Settings are wrong in the color system of the player	Press the P/N button on the remote control repeatedly until the correct picture displays on the TV.
Poor picture quality.	The disc is dirty or damaged.	Clean the disc as best you can and try again.
The remote control is not working.	The batteries are weak or dead. Replace with new batteries.
	The batteries are not installed properly.	Install the batteries following the polarity markings shown inside the battery compartment.
	The remote is not aimed at the sensor. Lower the lights in the room and aim the remote at sensor.
	Distance is too far. Operate within 5 m (16 feet).
	An obstacle is in the path of the beam. Move obstacle.
The unit does not start playback.	Rating level set to block the TV.	Remove the lock with the password.
	DVD not inserted or DVD inserted upside down.	Insert DVD correctly.
	A non-playback disc is inserted. Try another CD/DVD disc.
	The disc is not placed correctly in the guide.	Adjust the disc until it is seated firmly in the guide of the disc tray.
	The disc is dirty or damaged.	Clean the disc as best you can and try again.
Some functions do not work.	Some features and functions are not available on all discs.	Function may not be available on the disc. Try another disc.
Selected language is not audible, or is not showing in the subtitles.	If the Audio or Subtitle Language selection does not appear on the disc, then the initial setting will not be seen or heard.	Function is not available for that disc. Try another disc.
Subtitles are not working properly.	Subtitles appear only when the disc contains them.	Function is not available for that disc. Try another disc.
	Subtitles are not turned on.	Turn the subtitles on.
Angle cannot be changed.	Angles may not be recorded on the disc (see jacket/case), or they may only be recorded on a certain section of the disc.	Try another disc. The multi-angle may not be available on the whole disc. Wait until the multi-angle icon appears on the screen then press the ANGLE button on the remote control to change the angle on screen.
