Untangling the confusion about light bulbs!
In the past we only had incandescent bulbs. If you needed a 40W you went to the store and bought one. Now with the introducon of energy ecient bulbs the waage does not work the same way. Now you buy by the LUMENS you want. For example, a 60W bulb gives o 800 lumens. If you want to purchase a CFL bulb that gives o the same light as the 60W bulb you would pick a CFL bulb that has a waage between 13 and 15 was. If you want to purchase an LED bulb that gives o the same light as the 60W bulb you would pick an LED bulb that has a waage between 8 and 12.5 was. If you want a brighter light (this lamp is rated for a maximum of 60W) then you may choose one of the alternate bulbs (CFL or LED) that has a waage that is higher. Please see below:
| Brightness of Incandescent Bulb | Number of Lumens | Purchase a CFL Bulb | Purchase an LED Bulb |
| 40W | 450 | 9-11W | 6-9W |
| 60W | 800 | 13-15W | 8-12.5W |
| 75W | 1100 | 18-22W | +13W |
| 100W | 1600 | 23-26W | 16-20W |
