How do I set the clock on the Philips FWD398?

Press the CLOCK button on the remote control. Use the +/- buttons to adjust hours and minutes. Confirm with CLOCK again.

Can I play MP3 files from a USB stick?

Yes, insert a USB drive into the USB port on the front panel. Use the SOURCE button to select USB mode. The system supports MP3 and WMA files.

Why is there no sound from the speakers?

Check that speakers are properly connected to the terminals. Ensure the system is not muted. Try a different source (e.g., CD, radio) to isolate the issue.

How do I program radio stations?

Tune to a station manually or by scanning. Press PROG on the remote. Use +/- to select a preset number and press PROG again to store.

Can I connect an external device like a smartphone?

Yes, use the AUX IN jack (3.5 mm) on the front panel. Select AUX source. Adjust volume on both devices.

What types of discs are compatible?

The system plays DVD, DVD±R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, and MP3-CD discs. It does not support Blu-ray or HD DVD.

How do I clean the CD lens?

Use a CD lens cleaning disc available at electronics stores. Do not use liquids or insert objects into the disc tray.

The remote control does not work. What should I do?

Replace batteries with fresh ones. Check that the remote sensor on the main unit is not blocked. Try pointing directly at the unit.

How do I reset the system to factory settings?

Turn off the system. Press and hold the OPEN/CLOSE button on the main unit for 5 seconds. The display will show 'RESET' and the system will restart.

Why does the clock lose time when power is off?

The system uses a backup battery (CR2025) to keep the clock. If the battery is drained, replace it. You can access it by opening the battery compartment on the bottom.
