Frequently Asked Questions - GT-806A60 Planet

What is the Planet GT-806A60 used for?
The Planet GT-806A60 is a media converter that connects a 10/100/1000BASE-T copper network to a 100/1000BASE-X fiber-optic network, extending the distance and providing signal conversion.
Does the GT-806A60 include an SFP module?
No, the SFP module is not included. The package contains only the media converter with a vacant SFP slot. You need to purchase a compatible SFP module separately.
What power supply does the GT-806A60 require?
It requires a 5V DC, 2A power supply. The bundled AC-DC adapter has a 2.5mm center pin. You can also power it via a compatible Planet media converter chassis.
How do I enable the Link Fault Pass-through (LFP) function?
The LFP function is enabled by default. You can toggle it using the DIP switch on the front panel: set to ON for LFP (LLCF/LLR) detection, OFF to disable. The device must be reset for changes to take effect.
What do the LED indicators mean on the GT-806A60?
PWR (green): power detected. Fiber LNK/ACT (green): fiber link established (solid) or activity (blinking). TP LNK/ACT (green): copper link established (solid) or activity (blinking). TP 1000 LNK/ACT (green): port running at 1000Mbps (solid) or activity (blinking); off indicates 10/100Mbps.
Can the GT-806A60 be mounted on a wall or DIN rail?
Yes, it supports wall mount, DIN-rail mounting, and installation into Planet's 10"/19" media converter chassis. Consult your dealer for the appropriate mounting kit.
What is the maximum cable length for copper and fiber?
For copper (Twisted Pair), the maximum distance is 100 meters. For fiber, it depends on the SFP module; typical distances: 100BASE-FX up to 2 km, 1000BASE-SX up to 550 m, 1000BASE-LX up to 10 km.
Does the GT-806A60 support jumbo frames?
Yes, it supports jumbo frames up to 9K bytes.
Is the GT-806A60 plug-and-play?
Yes, it auto-negotiates speed and duplex on both ports. For most installations, you can simply connect cables and power. Use the DIP switch for LFP configuration if needed.
What should I do if the device is not working?
Check the power supply (5V DC, 2A), ensure cables are properly connected, verify SFP module compatibility, and confirm that the LFP DIP switch is set appropriately. Also check link partner settings. If issues persist, consult the user manual or contact Planet support.

DC receptacle is 2.5mm wide that conforms to the Gigabit Ethernet Media Converter's 2.5mm DC jack's central post. Do not install any improper unit.

The LFP function includes the Link-Fault-Passthrough function (LLCF/LLR) and the DIP Switch design. LLCF/LLR can immediately alarm administrators the issue of the link media and provide efficient solution to monitor the network. The DIP Switch will disable or enable the LFP function.

LLCF (Link Loss Carry Forward) means when a device is connected to the converter and the TP line loses the link, the converter's fiber will disconnect transmission link. LLR (Link Loss Return) means when a device is connected to the converter and the fiber line loses the link, the converter's fiber will disconnect.
