Frequently Asked Questions - MS20 Vonyx

How do I connect the Vonyx MS20 microphone to a mixer?
Use a standard XLR cable to connect the microphone to a mixer or audio interface with a balanced input. The MS20 is a dynamic microphone and does not require phantom power.
Does the Vonyx MS20 require phantom power?
No, the MS20 is a dynamic microphone and works without phantom power. It is powered solely by the sound waves from your voice.
What is the polar pattern of the MS20?
The Vonyx MS20 features a cardioid polar pattern, which picks up sound from the front while rejecting noise from the sides and rear. This helps reduce feedback and background noise.
Can I use the MS20 for recording instruments?
Yes, the MS20 can be used for recording instruments such as guitar amps or drums, especially in live settings. However, it is optimized for vocal applications.
How do I clean and maintain the Vonyx MS20?
Clean the grille and body with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using alcohol or abrasive cleaners. Remove the foam windscreen and wash it with mild soap and water, then let it dry completely before reuse.
What cable type is compatible with the MS20?
The microphone uses a 3-pin XLR connector. A standard XLR male-to-female cable (balanced) is recommended. The cable length can vary, but a 5m cable is typically included.
Why is my MS20 microphone producing low volume?
Check the XLR connection and ensure the mixer/interface gain is adequate. Dynamic microphones output lower levels than condenser mics, so you may need to increase the preamp gain. Also verify that the cable is fully inserted.
Is the MS20 suitable for outdoor use?
The MS20 is designed for indoor use. Exposure to moisture or extreme temperatures can damage the microphone. If used outdoors, protect it with a windscreen and avoid rain.
Does the MS20 come with a warranty?
Yes, Vonyx provides a standard 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Check your retailer for specific warranty terms.
Can I replace the grille or cable of the MS20?
Yes, both the grille and cable are replaceable. Contact Vonyx customer support or an authorized service center for replacement parts.
