How do I assemble the Sun Joe ATJ-V501?

To assemble, attach the handle to the main body until it clicks. Then slide the extension wand into the floor head. Refer to the assembly diagram in the manual.

How do I empty the dust cup?

Press the release button on the dust cup and lift it away from the unit. Hold it over a trash bin and press the bottom latch to open. Tap out debris. Always empty after each use.

How often should I clean the filter?

Wash the HEPA filter every month under running water. Let it air dry completely (24 hours) before reinstalling. Do not use detergent.

What should I do if suction power drops?

Check if the dust cup is full, the filter is clogged, or there is a blockage in the hose or brush roll. Clean or replace as needed. A blocked airflow is the most common cause.

Can I use the vacuum on hardwood floors?

Yes, the ATJ-V501 has a soft brush roll that is safe for hardwood. You can also disable the brush roll for bare floors.

How do I change the brush roll?

Unplug the vacuum. Use a screwdriver to remove the soleplate screws. Lift out the old brush roll and snap in a new one. Replace the soleplate. Check for wear every 6 months.

What is the cord length and can I use an extension cord?

The cord is 20 feet. You may use an extension cord, but it must be rated for 10 amps and grounded. Keep it fully extended to avoid overheating.

Why does the vacuum shut off during use?

This may be due to overheating or a blockage. The motor overload protection will shut the unit off. Unplug, remove blockages, and let cool for 30 minutes before restarting.

Where can I purchase replacement parts?

Replacement filters, brush rolls, and other parts are available on the Sun Joe website or authorized retailers. Use model number ATJ-V501.

How do I store the vacuum when not in use?

Wrap the cord around the hooks on the back. Store the vacuum in a dry, upright position with the attachments clipped to the handle.

• Carefully remove the handheld vacuum and check to see that all of the above items are supplied.

• Inspect the product carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping. If you find damaged or missing parts, DO NOT return the unit to the store. Please call the Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® customer service center at 1-866-SNOWJOE (1-866-766-9563).

NOTE: Do not discard the shipping carton and packaging material until you are ready to use your new handheld vacuum. The packaging is made of recyclable materials. Properly dispose of these materials in accordance with local regulations.

IMPORTANT! The equipment and packaging material are not toys. Do not let children play with plastic bags, foils, or small parts. These items can be swallowed and pose a suffocation risk!

Operation

1. Start your engine and plug the vacuum's plug into your 12V DC socket (Fig. 1).

1. Push switch to turn the vacuum on or off (Fig. 2).

1. Direct the nozzle of the vacuum onto the area you wish to clean (Fig. 3).

NOTE: Clean the filters regularly between uses in order to optimize cleaning performance.

NOTE: Empty the dust tank before it becomes overfilled.

WARNING! Never use the vacuum cleaner without its filter.

WARNING! Do not vacuum the following articles:

• Hot objects such as cigarette butts
- Sharp objects such as glass shards
• Corrosive liquids or solvents
• Combustible or explosive materials

CAUTION! This vacuum is only designed to clean up dry substances. Do not use it to clean liquids or wet substances.

1. To empty the dust tank, press the dust tank release button to detach the tank from the vacuum. Then simply pull out the HEPA filter and empty the dust tank (Fig. 4).

NOTE: Keep the detached dust tank facing upwards to prevent spilling its contents all over the place!

NOTE: The filter is re-usable, do not throw it away when the product is being emptied.

1. Place the filter back into the dust tank and press firmly to ensure a secure fit. Place the dust tank back onto the vacuum until it "clicks" firmly into position (Fig. 5).

NOTE: It is very important that the filter is correctly in position before use.

1. Turn off and unplug when not in use (Fig. 2).

Nozzle Attachments

Included with your handheld vacuum cleaner are three nozzle attachments for cleaning different areas and surfaces of your vehicle. Each can be attached directly into the vacuum (Fig. 6) or via the flexible extension hose for greater reach (Fig. 7).

NOTE: The extension hose can only connect to the vacuum on the end marked with an arrow, and connect to other nozzle attachments on the end without an arrow.

Maintenance

The filters are reusable and should be cleaned regularly using the included cleaning brush or rinsed with water. Optimum dust collection will only be achieved with clean filters (Fig. 8).

NOTE: After rising, allow filter to dry before placing back into the vacuum.

CAUTION! Do not expose the vacuum cleaner to rain or wet conditions. Water entering the unit will damage it.

CAUTION! Do not pull or yank on the power cord.

WARNING! Store the vacuum cleaner away from hot surfaces or under direct sunlight to reduce the risk of a short circuit.

We think it’s important that you know what you can expect from us. That’s why we have a Limited Warranty (“Warranty”) for our Products.

OUR WARRANTY:

Snow Joe warrants new, genuine, powered and non-powered Products to be free from defects in material or workmanship when used for ordinary household use for a period of two years from the date of purchase by the original, end-user purchaser when purchased from Snow Joe or from one of Snow Joe's authorized sellers with proof of purchase. Because Snow Joe is unable to control the quality of its Products sold by unauthorized sellers, unless otherwise prohibited by law, this Warranty does not cover Products purchased from unauthorized sellers. If your Product does not work or there's an issue with a specific part that is covered by the terms of this Warranty, Snow Joe will elect to either (1) send you a free replacement part, (2) replace the Product with a new or comparable product at no charge, or (3) repair the Product. This Warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from State to State.

This Warranty is extended by Snow Joe to the original purchaser and original owner of the Product.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED?

This Warranty does not apply if the Product has been used commercially or for non-household or rental applications. This Warranty also does not apply if the Product was purchased from an unauthorized seller. This Warranty also does not cover cosmetic changes that do not affect performance.
