Frequently Asked Questions - D-EJ775 SONY

How to use the G-PROTECTION function?
Set the G-PROTECTION switch to ON when using the player while walking or running. This reduces playback skips. In OFF position, battery life is longer.
What to do if the volume does not increase?
Press and hold the SOUND button until AVLS disappears from the display. The AVLS function limits the maximum volume.
How to charge the rechargeable batteries?
Insert the rechargeable batteries (supplied NC-WMAA or optional NH-WM2AA) into the compartment, connect the AC adaptor, then press the CHARGE/■ button. The CHARGE indicator lights up. Charging takes about 3 hours (NC-WMAA) or 5 hours (NH-WM2AA).
Why does the display show 'Lo batt' or '00'?
This means the batteries are depleted. Replace the alkaline batteries with new ones (LR6/AA) or recharge the rechargeable batteries.
How to lock the buttons with the HOLD function?
Slide the HOLD switch to the lock position. This prevents accidental button presses during transport. To unlock, slide the switch in the opposite direction.
What to do if the CD does not play or 'no dISC' appears?
Check that the HOLD lock is disabled. Make sure the CD is inserted with the label side up, is clean, and not scratched. If the problem persists, leave the unit for a few hours to allow any condensation to evaporate.
How to clean the connectors?
Periodically clean the headphone jack and AC adaptor plugs with a soft dry cloth to remove dirt and ensure good contact.
How to adjust the sound equalizer?
Press the SOUND button to select the sound mode: BASS1 (moderate bass boost) or BASS2 (stronger boost). To disable, press until 'SOUND' disappears.
What is the battery life with different battery types?
With G-PROTECTION ON: NC-WMAA approx. 12 h, NH-WM2AA approx. 22 h, alkaline LR6 approx. 41 h. With G-PROTECTION OFF: NC-WMAA approx. 8 h, NH-WM2AA approx. 17 h, alkaline LR6 approx. 29 h.
What does the message 'HI dc In' mean?
This message appears if the AC adaptor used is not suitable. Use only the supplied AC adaptor or an optional model recommended by Sony. Disconnect all power sources, then reconnect properly.
