How do I change the drill bit?

To change the bit, first ensure the drill is unplugged. Open the keyless chuck by rotating the chuck sleeve counterclockwise. Insert the bit fully, then tighten by rotating clockwise. For larger bits, use the chuck key if provided.

How do I adjust the speed?

Speed is controlled by the variable speed trigger. Light pressure gives low speed; full pressure gives high speed. The speed selector switch (if present) allows two ranges: low speed for high torque, high speed for drilling.

Is this drill corded or cordless?

The Ferm PDM1047P is a corded drill with a power cable. It requires a mains outlet for operation.

What is the maximum drilling capacity?

The maximum drilling capacity is 13 mm in steel and 25 mm in wood. For masonry, use a hammer drill if available; otherwise, a standard drill may handle up to 13 mm with carbide bits.

Yes, you can use it for screwdriving with appropriate bits. Use the variable speed trigger for control and adjust the torque setting if a clutch is available. Otherwise, avoid over-tightening.

What safety precautions should I take?

Always wear safety glasses and hearing protection. Keep your hands away from the rotating chuck. Ensure the workpiece is secured. Unplug before changing accessories. Do not use in wet conditions.

How do I set the drilling depth?

Use the depth stop rod (if included). Loosen the side handle clamp, adjust the rod to the desired depth, and tighten. The rod stops forward movement when it contacts the workpiece.

What does the variable speed trigger do?

The variable speed trigger allows you to control the drill speed by varying the pressure on the trigger. This is useful for precise starts and different materials.

How to replace the carbon brushes?

Carbon brushes are located on the motor. Unplug the drill, remove the brush caps on the sides, and slide out the worn brushes. Insert new ones and secure the caps. Only use identical brushes recommended by Ferm.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY WARNINGS

3. OPERATING

Exchanging and removing drill bits

Before exchanging bits, first remove the power plug from the wall socket.

Inspect bits regularly during use. Blunt bits should be re-sharpened or replaced.

• Open the chuck (1) by turning the front sleeve (12) clockwise while simultaneously holding the rear sleeve (11) or turning it counterclockwise and insert the bit into the chuck opening.
• Tighten the bit by turning the front sleeve (12) counterclockwise while simultaneously holding the rear sleeve (11) or turning it clockwise.

The On/Off switch

• Switch the machine on by pressing the On/Off switch (5). When you release the On/Off switch (5) the machine will turn off.
• The rotation-speed can be adjusted by pressing the On/Off switch (5) harder for raising the rotation-speed or release pressure for lowering the rotation-speed.

• You can lock the On/Off switch (5) by pressing the On/Off switch (5) and then pressing the lock-on button (4).
• To release the switch-lock; shortly press the On/Off switch (5) again.

4. MAINTENANCE

Before cleaning and maintenance, always switch off the machine and remove the mains plug from the mains.

Clean the machine casings regularly with a soft cloth, preferably after each use. Make sure that the ventilation openings are free of dust and dirt. Remove very persistent dirt using a soft cloth moistened with soapsuds. Do not use any solvents such as gasoline, alcohol, ammonia, etc. Chemicals such as these will damage the synthetic components.

The warranty conditions can be found on the separately enclosed warranty card.

ENVIRONMENT

Faulty and/or discarded electrical or electronic apparatus have to be collected at the appropriate recycling locations.

Do not dispose of power tools into domestic waste.
