Frequently Asked Questions - New Orleans 1000 DSP BLAUPUNKT

How do I connect the Blaupunkt New Orleans 1000 DSP to my car stereo?
Use high-level speaker inputs if your stereo lacks RCA outputs, or use RCA cables from the head unit's preamp outputs. Ensure the amplifier's input voltage matches your signal level. Refer to the manual for specific wiring diagrams.
Can I bridge channels on the New Orleans 1000 DSP?
Yes, the amplifier supports bridging channels 1/2 and 3/4 for more power. For bridge mode, connect the positive to the left channel positive and negative to the right channel negative. Ensure the impedance is 4Ω minimum when bridged.
How do I tune the DSP on this amplifier?
Use the Blaupunkt DSP tuning software (available for Windows) connected via USB. You can adjust crossover points, equalization, time alignment, and create filters. The amplifier also has a remote control for basic level adjustments.
What is the RMS power output at 4 ohms?
The New Orleans 1000 DSP delivers 4 x 150 watts RMS at 4 ohms, and 4 x 250 watts RMS at 2 ohms. Bridged output is 1 x 500 watts RMS at 4 ohms.
Does this amplifier work with factory-installed head units?
Yes, the amplifier has high-level speaker inputs that accept up to 6V, making it compatible with most factory radios. Use the included wiring harness to connect directly to speaker outputs.
How do I set the gain on the New Orleans 1000 DSP?
Play a test tone (e.g., 50 Hz) at 75% of your head unit's maximum volume. Turn the gain up slowly until you hear distortion, then back off slightly. Use the clip indicator LED to avoid overdriving the amplifier.
What size power wire should I use?
For the New Orleans 1000 DSP, use 4 AWG power and ground wire for runs up to 20 feet. For shorter distances, 8 AWG may suffice, but 4 AWG is recommended for full performance and safety.
How do I reset the DSP to factory settings?
Disconnect the amplifier from power for 30 seconds, then reconnect. Alternatively, use the DSP software to load a default preset. The manual also contains instructions for a full reset.
Can I use this amplifier with a subwoofer?
Yes, bridge channels 3 and 4 (or 1 and 2) to power a single subwoofer. Set the crossover to low-pass mode at 80-100 Hz. Ensure the subwoofer impedance is 4Ω or higher.
How do I update the firmware on the DSP?
Download the latest firmware from the Blaupunkt support website. Connect the amplifier to a Windows PC via USB, run the updater tool, and follow the on-screen instructions. Do not disconnect power during the update.
