Why does the QC 25 eM charger light up red and not charge the battery?

Important note: The QC 25 eM normally displays a red light when charging the battery. If the light remains red but the battery does not charge after several minutes, this indicates a problem. Here’s how to diagnose it.

Checks to perform in order:

Clean the contacts - The most common cause. The contacts of the charger and the control handle can get dirty over time, preventing current transmission. Use a dry, clean cloth to gently clean the contact areas of the charging module and the battery.
Check the correct insertion of the battery - The control handle with the integrated battery module must be properly inserted into the charging module. Insert it firmly until you feel it is securely in place.
Check the temperature - The QC 25 eM can only charge if the battery and charger are between +10 °C and +40 °C (optimal temperature: around 24 °C). If the charger or battery is too hot (after intense use) or too cold (stored outdoors), allow them to reach the correct temperature before recharging. In this case, the light remains green until the temperature is correct.
Check the electrical fuse - If the charger does not turn on at all (no light), the fuse for the main connection to the network may have blown or is defective. Have a qualified electrician check and replace it. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.
Test with another battery - If you have another compatible one, try charging it. This will help you determine if the problem is with the battery or the charger.

The normal charging time for an empty battery is about 1 hour. If after 2 hours the battery still hasn’t charged and all the above checks have been performed, the battery or charger is likely defective. Contact a Wolf Garten dealer or a specialized workshop to have the charger and control handle checked. Do not continue to use a defective device.
