Important safety instructions
Carefully read the instructions for use before using the appliance.
- Save the instructions, certificate of warranty, proof of payment, and preferably the appliance packaging.
- Do not immerse the housing with electric components and heating elements in liquid and do not rinse it under running water.
- Prevent any ingress of water or other liquid into the appliance as this may cause electric shock.
- Always place the food to be fried in the basket in order to avoid contact with the heating elements.
- Do not cover the air inlets and outlets during appliance operation.
- Do not use the appliance without oil or with insufficient amount of oil.
- Never overfill the pan with oil. The amount of oil has to be between the min. and the max. level as indicated on the oil pan.
- Do not touch any part of the appliance interior during operation.
- Before connecting the appliance to the power mains, make sure the voltage indicated on the appliance matches the power mains voltage in your home.
- Do not use the appliance if the plug, power cord, or any other component is damaged.
- If the power cord is damaged, it may only be replaced by Gorenje, Gorenje's authorized service and repair centre, or an adequately trained professional.
- This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years and above and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, if they are supervised during the use of the appliance or if they have been provided relevant instructions regarding the use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.
- Keep children under supervision while they are using the appliance and make sure they do not play with it.
- Children should not perform any cleaning or maintenance tasks on the appliance, unless they are older than 8 years and do so under supervision.
- Keep the power cord away from hot surfaces.
- Do not plug the power cord to the power outlet, and do not use the appliance control panel if your hands are wet.
- Only connect the appliance to a grounded power outlet. Make sure the power plug is inserted correctly into the power outlet.
- This appliance cannot be controlled using an external timer or a separate remote control system.
- Do not place the appliance onto or near flammable materials such as tablecloths or curtains.
- Do not place the appliance next to a wall or on top of other appliances. Make sure there is at least 10 cm of clearance behind, next to, and above the appliance. Do not place any objects on the appliance.
- Only use the appliance for the purposes described in this manual.
- Do not leave the appliance to operate unattended.
- During frying, hot steam is released through the air outlet vents. Take care not to come too close to the air outlet vents with your hands and face. Also, be careful not to be scalded by steam and hot air when opening the lid and removing the basket from the appliance.
- During operation, accessible surfaces of the appliance may become hot.
- If there is dark smoke coming out of the appliance, immediately switch it off. Before removing the basket from the appliance, wait for the smoke to subside.
- Place the appliance on a level, flat, and stable surface.
- The appliance is intended solely for normal household use. It is not intended for use in environments such as kitchenettes at stores, offices, farms, or other working environments. It is also not intended to be used by guests in hotel rooms, motels, bed and breakfast establishments, and other establishments offering accommodation.
- If the appliance is not used correctly or if it is used for professional or semi-professional purposes or in a way not in compliance with these instructions, the warranty shall be void and Gorenje shall not be responsible for any resulting damage.
- For inspection or repair of the appliance, contact an authorized Gorenje service centre.
- Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself as this will void the warranty.
- Always disconnect the appliance from the power mains after use.
- Before holding or cleaning the appliance, let the oil in the pan and the appliance cool down completely.
- Make sure the food cooked in the appliance is a golden colour, rather than dark or brown. Remove any residue of burnt food. Do not fry raw potatoes at a temperature above 180 °C (to reduce the formation of acrylamides).
This equipment is labelled in compliance with the European Directive 2012/19/EC on waste electric and electronic equipment – WEEE. The Directive specifies the requirements for collection and management of waste electric and electronic equipment effective in the entire European Union.
Before using the appliance for the first time
Remove all packaging material. If there are any labels or stickers on the appliance, remove them. Rinse the basket with hot water. Remove the lid (Figure 1) and rinse it with hot water. Do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaners. Use a damp cloth to clean the interior and exterior of the appliance. Do not clean the frying basket in the dishwasher. Dry all appliance components thoroughly before use. Be particularly careful to dry the filters and the lid.
Electrical connection:
The appliance may only be connected to a correctly fitted 220–240 V ~ 50/60 Hz power outlet.

Preparation for use
Never switch on the appliance without any oil in the pan.
- Place the appliance on a stable and level surface. Do not place the appliance on a surface that is not heat resistant.
- Lift the handle and remove the frying basket (Figure 2).
- Add the oil into the oil pan (Figure 3) at least to the MIN mark (2 litres of oil) and not more than to the MAX mark (2.5 litres of oil).
- Insert the frying basket into the appliance and close the lid (Figure 4).
- Close the appliance lid.

Using the appliance
- Close the appliance lid.
- Connect the power cord plug to a grounded power outlet.
- Use the temperature dial to set the desired temperature. The operation and heating indicator lights up. When the appliance reaches the set temperature, the heating indicator goes off.
- Press the fryer lid opening button.
- Remove the frying basket from the appliance.
- Place the food in the frying basket.
- Carefully insert the frying basket with the food into the appliance.
- Close the appliance lid.
- Use the window to monitor the frying process. When the food is ready, step away from the appliance and open the lid. This way, you will avoid the burst of steam.
- Lift the basket from the oil and place it on the edge of the oil pan so that the basket and the food can drain.
- Empty the basket onto a plate or in a bowl. Remove larger chunks with tongs. Close the appliance lid.
- After use of the appliance, turn the temperature dial all the way to the left.
- Disconnect the appliance from the power mains.

The table below indicates approximate cooking time and temperature for some types of food. Due to variation in size, shape and brand of the ingredients, the settings may require adjusting.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Cause | Solution |

Tips
- Never mix old (used) and fresh oil.
- Always replace the oil when it starts to smoke, when you perceive an unpleasant odour, and when it affects the flavour of the fried food.
- Thoroughly dry the food before placing it into hot oil.
Cleaning:
Before cleaning, unplug the appliance from the power mains and let it cool down completely (at least 4 hours).
- Lid and basket: wash the interior and exterior of the lid and basket with hot water. Do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaners. Do not wash the basket in the dishwasher.
- Appliance exterior and interior: use a damp cloth to clean the interior and exterior of the appliance.
The appliance conforms to the CE directives on radio interferences and low-voltage safety, and it conforms to all effective safety requirements.
ENVIRONMENT
At the end of the appliance's useful life, do not discard it with common household waste. Take it to an authorized recycling centre. This will help preserve the environment.

Using the appliance

- Insert the mains plug into a grounded wall socket.
- Set the temperature control to the desired temperature. The operation and heating indicator lights up. When the appliance reaches the set temperature, the heating indicator goes out.
- Press the button to open the fryer lid.
- Remove the frying basket from the appliance.
- Place the food in the frying basket.
- Carefully insert the basket with food into the appliance.
- Close the lid of the appliance.
- Use the window to monitor the cooking of the food. When the food is ready, step away from the appliance and open the lid. This will avoid hot steam.
- Lift the basket out of the oil and place it on the edge of the oil container to let the basket and food drain.
- Empty the basket onto a plate or into a container. Remove larger pieces with tongs. Close the lid of the appliance.
- After using the appliance, turn the temperature control to the far left position.
- Unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet.
