Frequently Asked Questions - SPM 4 AUDISON

What is the recommended power cable gauge for the Audison SPM 4?
For optimal performance, use a minimum 8 AWG power and ground cable. Ensure the cable is fused within 18 inches of the battery.
Can the SPM 4 amplifier be bridged?
Yes, the amplifier can be bridged on channels 1/2 and 3/4 to deliver up to 150W RMS per bridged channel at 4 ohms.
What is the input sensitivity range?
The input sensitivity is adjustable from 0.2V to 8V, allowing compatibility with various head units.
How do I set the crossover filters?
Use the built-in variable high-pass and low-pass filters. Set the crossover frequency based on your speakers: high-pass for tweeters, low-pass for subwoofers.
What are the protection features?
The amplifier includes thermal, short circuit, and overvoltage protection to prevent damage.
Can I use this amplifier with a factory radio?
Yes, if the factory radio has preamp outputs. If not, you may need a line output converter (LOC).
What is the recommended speaker impedance?
The amplifier is stable down to 2 ohms per channel in stereo mode and 4 ohms when bridged.
How do I wire the remote turn-on?
Connect the remote input terminal to a 12V source from the head unit's remote output or a switched accessory wire.
What is the frequency response?
The frequency response is 10 Hz to 40 kHz within ±1 dB, suitable for full-range audio.
Does the amplifier require a specific mounting orientation?
Mount the amplifier in a well-ventilated area, ideally with fins oriented horizontally for best heat dissipation.

Descrizione

Stereo passive mixer (unpowered) featuring 4 input channels and 2 output channels, designed for active OEM multi-way systems where each speaker is powered by one specific amplified channel. SPM4 mixes audio through 4 audio transformers specifically developed to achieve very low distortion and highly linear acoustic response. SPM4 provides the ability to mix the midrange/woofer and tweeter channels coming from the amplifier and supply one single mid-high channel. The Ch1(L/R) channels feature two inputs, one features an inverting input compared to Ch2(L/R) channels; the mixing process often gives better results when one of the two channels undergoes a 180irc dephasing. SPM4 is especially recommended to extend the number of inputs of the Audison digital processors or amplifiers with built-in DSP because they feature a De-equalizer (De-Eq). In that case, any possible non-linear acoustic emissions due to the mixing of the pre-existing filtered channels are duly compensated.
