Getting Started Configuring the Basic Settings in Initial Setup When you turn the product on for the first time, a sequence of screens and on-screen prompts will assist you in configuring the products basic settings. Plug the power cord into a wall outlet, and then press the C button to turn on the product. à Setup is available only when the Source is set to TV. See "Changing the Input Source” (page 30). To return to the previous step in the Setup sequence, select Previous. à If you are not using a cable box or satellite box, make sure you have connected the product to an antenna or cable connection before you turn on the product. See page 20 for instructions. à If you want to configure a wired network connection during Setup, make sure you've connected a LAN cable to your product. See page 61 for instructions. If you want to configure a wireless network connection during Setup, make sure your wireless modem or router is on and working. See page 62 for instructions. Menu Language: À sécu Language. If this occurs, set the product to External Speaker. When the Speaker Select is set to External Speaker, the product's speakers are turned off. You will hear sound through the external speakers only. When the Speaker Select is set to TV Speaker, both the product's speakers and the external speakers are on. You will hear sound through both. # When the Speaker Select is set to External Speaker, the volume buttons and mute function will not operate and the sound settings will be limited. & Ifthere is no video signal, both the product's speakers and the external speakers will be mute. Auto Volume Because each station has its own broadcasting conditions, the volume may fluctuate each time you change the channel. Automatic Wireless Network Setup Most wireless networks have an optional security system that requires devices that access the network to transmit an encrypted security code called an Access or Security Key. The Security Key is based on a Pass Phrase, typically a word or a series of letters and numbers of a specified length you were asked to enter when you set up wireless security for your wireless network. I you use this method of setting up the network connection, and have a Security Key for your wireless network, you will have to enter the Pass Phrase during the automatic or manual setup process. To set up your products wireless network connection automatically, follow these steps:

Go to the Network Settings screen. (Network — Network Settings) Select Start. The network function searches for available wireless networks. When done, it displays a list of the available networks. In the list of networks, select a network you want to connect, and then select Next. à Ifthe wireless router is set to Hidden (Invisible), you have to select Add Network and enter the correct Network Name (SSID) and Security Key to establish the connection. ._ Ifthe Enter security key screen appears, go to step 5. Network Features Wi-Fi Direct Menu — Network — Wi-Fi Direct Set to connect the product to wireless mobile devices. Using this function, you can connect wireless mobile devices with your product directly without a router. à To use this function, your mobile device should be supported by the Wi-Fi Direct. To connect your mobile device with your product using Wi-Fi Direct, follow these steps:

1. Go to Wi-Fi Direct screen (Network — Wi-Fi Direct). The product stars to search devices.

2. Turn on the Wi-Fi Direct function on your device. Select the desired Wi-Fi device.

— PRG: Press the WPS(PBC) button on your Wi-Fi device within 2 minutes. Your product automatically acquires al the network setting values it needs and connects to your network. — "PIN: Input the displayed PIN on your device.

• If you want to disconnect the device, select the connected Wi-Fi device, and then select Disconnect. Soft AP Menu — Network — Soft AP Using this function, you can connect the product on your mobile devices if your mobile devices do not support Wi-Fi Direct. Set the options for connection of Wi-Fi device. + Soft AP Turns on or off the Soft AP. When Soft AP is set to On, your mobile devices can find the product name in Wi-Fi connection list. + Security key Set the Security Key manually using the remote control. — _Ifthe security key does not meet the required digit number, Done is not available. — Input the generated security key into the device you want to connect. — lfnetwork does not operate normally, check the security key again. For details on set up options, refer to the “AlShare Settings” in the AlShare Play section. (page 115) Device Name Menu — Network — Device Name Enter a name for this product. This name will be shown on network remote controls and devices using AllShare Play. <3 A keyboard appears on the screen and you can key in a name for your product manually using your remote control. For example, if you want to change the name to Samsung product, select each character using your remote. When done, select Done.

Volume: Set the desired loudness. Source: To select what will be turned on when the timer setting is activated. You can set the TV to turn on a specific channel or play back contents such as video, photo or audio files located in an external device connected to the TV. “à The USB device must be connected to your TV before you can select USB. Antenna (when the Source is set to TV): Select Air or Cable. Channel (when the Source is set to TV): Select the desired channel. Music / Photo (when the Source is set to USB): Select a folder in the USB device containing music or photo filles you want played when the product turns on automatically. Ifthere is no music file on the USB device or you don't select a folder containing a music file, the Timer function does not operate correctiy. Every time you access the Security functions, the PIN screen will appear and you must enter that PIN. To access the Program Rating Lock feature and make any changes, you must enter a PIN (personal identification number). 1. Select the Online. The Connecting to Server message appears.

2. Ifthere is a download available, the Download pop-up appears with a progress bar and the download starts.

8. When the download is complete, the Upgrade Query screen appears with three choices: Upgrade Now,

Upgrade Later, or Don't Upgrade. — Ifyou select the Upgrade Now, the product upgrades the software, turns off, and then turns on automatically. — If you do not make a selection in one minute or select the Upgrade Later, the product stores the new upgrade software. If a file you deleted from the PC is stil found when you run Smart Hub, use the “Empty the Recycle Bin” function on the PC to permanentiy delete the fil. Ifthe database of the saved fil list cannot be constructed because there is no free space on the USB device, you may not be able to view a new file even if you have added the file to the USB device. Advanced Features Supported Devices Certain types of USB Digital camera and audio devices may not be compatible with this product. AlShare Play supports only USB Mass Storage Class (MSC) devices. MSC is a Mass Storage Class Bulk-Oniy Transport device. Examples of MSC are Thumb drives, Flash Card Readers and USB HDD (USB HUB are not supported). Devices should be connected directly to the products USB port. More than 3TB USB HDD is not supported. If more than 2 PTP devices are connected, you can only use one at a time. If more than two MSC devices are connected, some of them may not be recognized. À USB device that requires high power (more than 500mA or 5V) may not be supported! Ifthe product has no input during the time set in Auto Protection Time, the Screensaver will run. The power-saving mode of some external hard disk drives may be released automatically when you connect them to the product. File system and formats The USB function might not work properiy with unlicensed multimedia files. MTP (Media Transfer Protocol is not supported The flle system supports FAT16, FATS2 and NTFS. AlShare Play supports only the Sequential jpeg format. it does not support the Progressive jpeg format. The higher the resolution of the image, the longer it takes to display on the screen. The maximum supported JPEG resolution is 15860 X 8640 pixels. If a file is corrupted or the product does not support the file type, the Not Supported File Format. message appears. Ifthe fils are sorted by Folder view, the product can display the names of up to 1000 files in each folder. Ifthe number of files and folders saved on a USB storage device is approximately over 8000, the files and folders may not appear and some folders may not be opened. The product cannot play MP3 flles with DRM that have been downloaded from a for pay site. Digital Rights Management (DRM) is a technology that supports the creation, distribution, and management of digital content in an integrated and comprehensive way, including protecting the rights and interests of content providers, preventing illegal copying of contents, and managing bilings and settlements. Even if the file to be played is encoded by a supported format, an error message may appear due to a sub container or profile problem. English - 116

Make sure a video cable is not connected to an audio input. For antenna or cable connections, check the signal information. A low signal level may cause sound distortion. Software Update over the network fails. Run Network Status in Network menu to confirm the connection. If you have latest Software (SW) version, SW upgrade will not proceed. Others Purple/green rolling horizontal bars and buzzing noise from the product speakers with a Component cable connection. Remove the left and right audio connections from the Set-Top box. If the buzzing stops, this indicates that the Set-Top box has a grounding issue. Replace the Component video cables with an HDMI connection: The picture won't display in full screen. HD channels wil have black bars on either side of the screen when displaying up scaled SD (4:8) contents. Black bars will appear on the top and bottom of the screen when you watch movies that have aspect ratios different from your product. Adjust the picture size options on your external device or the product to full screen. A Mode Not Supported message appears. Check the supported resolution of the product, and adjust the external device's output resolution accordingly. Refer to the resolution settings of this manual Caption on product menu is grayed out. You cannot select the Caption menu if you have selected a source connected to the product via HDMI or Component. The external device’s Caption function must also be activated. There is a plastic smell from the product. This smell is normal and will dissipate over time. The product Signal Information is unavailable in the Self Diagnosis menu This function is only available for digital channels the TV receives from an Antenna / RF /Coax connection. The product is tited to the side. Remove the base stand from the product and reassemble it. The channel menu is grayed out (unavailable). The Channel menu is only available when you select the product source. Your settings are lost after 80 minutes or every time the product is tumed off. Select TV in the Source using your remote, and go to Menu — System — Setup. You have intermittent loss of audio or video. Check the cable connections and reconnect them. Loss of audio or video can be caused by using overiy rigid or thick cables. Make sure the cables are flexible enough for long term use. If mounting the product to a wall, we recommend using cables with 90 degree connectors. You see small particles when you look closely at the edge of the frame of the product.
