What are the dimensions of the CDA CTE92SS range hood?

How do I clean the grease filters?

The aluminum grease filters are washable. You can clean them in a dishwasher or by hand with warm soapy water. Ensure they are completely dry before reinstalling.

Can the CTE92SS be used in recirculation mode?

Yes, it can be used in recirculation mode with an optional charcoal filter. This is ideal when external ducting is not possible.

What type of bulbs does the hood use?

The hood uses 2 x 40 W halogen bulbs (G4 base). For replacement, ensure the hood is disconnected from power.

How often should I replace the charcoal filter?

If using recirculation mode, replace the charcoal filter every 3 to 6 months depending on usage. A saturated filter reduces efficiency.

The hood can be wall-mounted above the hob. Ensure a minimum distance of 65 cm to electric hobs and 75 cm to gas hobs. Secure it to the wall using the supplied brackets and screws. For detailed steps, refer to the user manual.

What should I do if the hood stops working?

Check the power supply and circuit breaker. If the motor doesn't run, it may have overheated and the thermal cut-out has activated. Wait 30 minutes for it to cool. If the problem persists, contact service.

Safety Information

■ Under no circumstances should the extractor be connected to any gas ventilation system, flue system or hot air ducting system.
- Do not vent the extractor into an attic or loft space.
- Only house the extractor in rooms with adequate ventilation. Remember that the extractor is powerful and whatever air is extracted needs to be replaced.
- Do not tile the extractor in. It should be removable for service or maintenance.
- Do not use silicone sealant to secure the hood to the wall.
- You must be able to isolate the extractor from the mains electrical supply after installation.
This extractor has been designed to be used in a room with a volume of less than 36m^3 .
- Steam cleaners must not be used when cleaning this appliance.
- The performance of your extractor will vary depending on several factors. These include type of extraction, length of ducting, room volume, ventilation available and cleanliness of the filters.
- The extractor should be cleaned regularly to prevent build-up of grease. We recommend cleaning both inside and outside the appliance monthly. Failure to observe the requirements specified in this manual can result in a fire risk.

Operation

The control panel is equipped with rocker switches to control your appliance. You can use the switches once the retractable front panel is extended. This telescopic kitchen hood is equipped with a switch that detects when you retract the front panel and will start the motor at the previously set speed.

Available speeds:

I Low speed. Use this speed when cooking a little food with hardly any fumes.
II Medium speed. Use this speed when cooking multiple dishes at the same time with a moderate quantity of fumes.
III High speed. Use this speed when frying or grilling, with large quantity of fumes.
• OFF. Pushing the panel back in will turn the motor off

Pressing the lamp switch turns the lighting on/off. The lighting operates independently of hood fan.

Extractor lighting

The lighting on your extractor uses energy efficient LED technology and is designed to last the lifetime of the product. If the LED system malfunctions, please contact CDA Customer Care.

The LED units must only be replaced by a competent appliance service engineer.

Note that the lighting is for use during cooking and is not intended to be used for ambient lighting.

Operating modes

Your extractor can be used in either of two modes - recirculation or extraction. The choice often depends on the specific installation requirements. Your installer will be able to advise which is best for you.

Note that when used in recirculation mode, the extractor will only remove grease and odours from cooking. It will not remove steam.

Ducting and Ventilation

For best performance and lowest noise output, we recommend the use of 120mm ducting. It is possible to use 100mm ducting, but this will reduce performance. In general, the less ducting you use (i.e. distance and bends) the more efficient your extractor will be.

The lengths of ducting with minimal effect on performance are as follows:

■ 4 metres with 1 x 90 ° bend
■ 3 metres with 2 x 90 ° bends
■ 2 metres with 3 × 90^ bends

Longer ducting can be used but the performance of the extractor will likely be reduced.

Please note: Ducting components and ducting kits are optional accessories and need to be ordered separately, they are not automatically supplied with the hood. Use of ducting less than 120mm in diameter will affect performance and increase the noise produced by the extractor.

Mains Electricity Connection

THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE MAINS SUPPLY BY A COMPETENT PERSON, USING FIXED WIRING VIA A DOUBLE POLE SWITCHED FUSED SPUR OUTLET AND PROTECTED BY A 3A FUSE.

We recommend that the appliance is connected by a qualified electrician, who is a member of the N.I.C.E.I.C. and who will comply with the I.E.T. and local regulations.

The wires in the mains lead of this appliance are coloured in accordance with the following code:

BLUE = NEUTRAL, BROWN = LIVE

As the colours of the wires in the mains lead for the appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals connecting to the fused spur, proceed as follows:

• The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal marked N (Neutral) or coloured black or blue.
• The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal marked L (Live) or coloured red or brown.

If the mains cable of this appliance is damaged, it must only be replaced by a CDA approved service engineer, agent, or other suitably qualified person.

IMPORTANT – ONLY USE A 3 AMP FUSE

The use of a 13A fuse can cause internal wiring damage which will not be covered under the CDA warranty.

It is a requirement that you must be able to isolate the extractor from the mains electrical supply after installation.

Positioning Your Extractor

When the extractor is to be installed above an electric, ceramic or induction hob, the minimum distance between the hob and extractor must be at least 550mm.

When the extractor is to be installed above a gas hob, the minimum distance between the hob and extractor must be at least 650mm.

If the instructions provided with your gas hob state that the required distance between the hob and extractor must be greater than 650mm, then that is the distance that should be observed; this is a legal requirement and may lead to your hob being disconnected from the gas supply and the installation being reported under RIDDOR (The height should be measured from the top of the burners).

IN THE ABSENCE OF ANY INSTRUCTIONS SUPPLIED WITH THE GAS HOB, THE MINIMUM DISTANCE BETWEEN THE HOB AND EXTRACTOR MUST BE AT LEAST 650mm.

Important: The CTE62SS is intended for use above a hob of width 60cm or less. The CTE92SS is intended for use above a hob of no more than 90cm.

Installation

This extractor is designed to be mounted into a bridging unit or similar and screwed directly to a supporting shelf, with its lower surface sitting 140mm from the bottom of the unit, as shown in the following image:

Important – Ensure that the screws used to secure the unit to the supporting shelf are suitable for your installation. The length of the screws used should be less than the thickness of the supporting shelf; We recommend 15mm length for a shelf thickness of 15mm, and 20mm length for an 18mm+ shelf.

Care and Maintenance

Regular maintenance and cleaning of the appliance will ensure trouble-free operation of the cooker hood and extend its life. Especially make sure that the grease filter and activated charcoal filter are replaced according to manufacturer's recommendations.

• Do not use solvents, caustic substances, or alcohol, as they may tarnish lacquered surfaces and damage the stainless steel.
• Do not use a rough or abrasive cloth.
  ■ We recommend using a damp cloth and a neutral detergent.

Grease filter

Figure 11 shows how to remove the grease filter.

Grease filters can be washed in a dishwasher, but they may discolour. This does not indicate a fault with them.

Activated charcoal filter

The fitting and removal of the charcoal filter is shown in Figure 12.

A charcoal filter is only required when the cooker hood is operating in recirculation mode. Activated charcoal filter can absorb odours until saturated. Charcoal filters are not suitable for washing or regeneration and should be replaced at least once every 3-4 months, or more frequently if the appliance is used intensively.
