Frequently Asked Questions - Eccles SE (2013) Swift

How do I replace a bulb in the rear light cluster?
Release the four screws around the perimeter of the lens, withdraw the lamp from the rear of the caravan. Twist the relevant bulb holder to release it. Bulbs are bayonet fitting: push and twist to remove. Take care when replacing stop/tail light to ensure correct orientation so brake light is brighter.
What are the correct tyre pressures for my Swift Eccles SE?
For lower MTPM (1553 kg) use 62 psi (4.3 bar); for upper MTPM (1600 kg) use 64 psi (4.4 bar). Tyre size: 185 R14C 102C.
What is the maximum payload of the caravan?
The total user payload is 153 kg (3.0 cwt), including personal effects. Any dealer-fit options will reduce the available payload.
How can I access the number plate light bulb?
Remove the two screws in the lens, then lever the bulb out of retaining clips. Alternatively, if the rear is accessible inside, twist the bulb holder to release. Bulbs are push fit.
What type of electrical system does the caravan use?
It uses a 12V DC system with a Sargent Electrical Services PSU (part numbers C440, 448, 445, 449) and a 230V AC circuit for appliances like a refrigerator and heater.
How do I interpret the Mass in Running Order (MRO) and payload information?
The MRO includes essential equipment like gas cylinders now. The payload is the remaining capacity for personal effects. The overall effect of the new calculation method is that the available payload remains the same as before.
What are the bed sizes in the Eccles SE?
The front double bed is 202 cm x 156 cm (without chest of drawers). Side single beds vary by layout: offside single 190 cm x 62 cm, nearside single 183 cm x 73 cm. Rear double beds are also available.
How do I change a bulb in the awning lamp?
The awning lamp is an LED unit (FEM0945) with no user-serviceable parts. Replacement should be done by your dealer as the lamp is sealed.
What is the correct awning size for my caravan?
Awning sizes are approximate. For the Eccles SE, the A/A dimension is about 9.36 m (32 ft 8 in). Confirm with your dealer or awning manufacturer before purchase.
Where can I download the full user manual?
The manual is available for free download in PDF format at notice-facile.com. Search for 'Swift Eccles SE 2013'. It includes wiring diagrams and bulb replacement instructions.

Bulb replacement

2011 T5D / T6D CHALLENGER / ECCLES / CONQUEROR / ELITE ROAD LIGHT BULB ACCESS

REAR LIGHT CLUSTERS (CONTAINING INDICATOR, TAIL / STOP, REVERSE AND FOG LAMPS)

All of the bulbs within the clusters are accessed from the rear of the cluster.

To remove the cluster, release the four screws that can be seen around the perimeter of the lense of the lamp. The whole lamp can then be withdrawn from the rear of the caravan.

The relevant bulb holder can now, from the rear of the lamp, be twisted relative to the body of the lamp to release it.

The bulbs are then a bayonet fitting into the bulb holder - push the bulb lightly toward the holder, and twist, to release.

Please take additional care replacing stop/tail light in correct orientation. When fitted correctly brake light illumination will be brighter than tail lamp illumination.

Re-fit the bulb holder into the lamp body.

FRONT LOW LEVEL MARKER / POSITION LAMPS (CLEAR LENSE)

These lamps are LED and have no user serviceable parts inside.

Replacements should be undertaken by your dealer, as the lamps are sealed onto the mounting panel.

This lamp is single piece and has no user serviceable parts inside.

Replacements should be undertaken by your dealer, as the lamps are sealed onto the mounting panel.

NUMBER PLATE LAMPS

Bulb access is from via the front lense of each lamp.

Remove the two screws in the lens of the lamp, and remove.

Lever the bulb out of retaining clips.

Reverse the procedure to re-fit a new bulb and the light lens.

Bulb access is from rear of lamp.

If rear of lamp is visible from inside the caravan:

  • Depending on the location, a small brown plastic cover may be present covering the connections to the lamp. Remove the screws in the cover to release and access the rear of the lamp.
  • The harness plugs directly into the bulb holder - twist the bulb holder relative to the lamp body to release, and withdraw the bulb holder and bulb.
  • Bulbs are push fit into bulb holder - pull bulb directly away from holder to release
  • Reverse the procedure to replace the bulb in the holder, holder in the lamp and the lamp onto the caravan body. Replace plastic cover.

If rear of lamp is not visible from inside the caravan:

  • Remove the 2 screws from the front of the light fitting, and withdraw the whole fitting from the caravan body
