How to turn on the Samsung D860 camera?
To turn on the camera, slide the mode dial to one of the shooting modes (Auto, Program, etc.) or to the Playback mode. The screen turns on. To turn off, set the mode dial to OFF.
What type of batteries to use and how to insert them?
Use two AA alkaline batteries (supplied) or rechargeable Ni-MH SNB-2512 batteries (optional). Open the battery compartment on the back of the camera, insert the batteries respecting polarity (+/-). Close the cover.
How to take a photo in Auto mode?
Select Auto mode (camera icon) with the mode dial. Frame your subject in the screen, press the shutter button halfway to focus (the indicator turns green), then press fully to take the photo.
How to record a video?
Turn the mode dial to the camera icon (video mode). Frame your scene, press the shutter button to start recording. Press again to stop. The optical zoom works but sound is muted during zoom.
How to transfer photos to a computer?
Install the Samsung Master software from the supplied CD. Connect the camera to the computer with the USB cable. Turn on the camera in Playback mode. Photos are accessible via the software or directly as a removable drive.
How to delete images?
In Playback mode, use the Left/Right buttons to select the image to delete. Press the Delete button (trash icon). Confirm by selecting Yes. You can also delete multiple images by marking them.
Does the camera have a macro mode?
Yes, in Program mode, you can activate the Macro mode (flower icon). The focusing range in wide angle is from 10 cm to 80 cm, perfect for close-ups. You can also use the Scene mode 'Close-up'.
What is the battery life?
With new high-capacity alkaline batteries, you can take about 58 to 118 photos in Very Fine mode depending on size (see manual). With rechargeable SNB-2512 batteries (2500 mAh), the battery life is similar. To extend battery life, disable the flash and the screen if possible.
How to format the memory card?
Insert the card into the camera. Turn on, press the Menu button, go to settings (wrench icon) and find the 'Format' option. Confirm. Caution: This operation erases all data on the card.
What to do if the camera overheats?
A slight warmth is normal after prolonged use. If the camera becomes very hot, turn it off and let it cool down in a ventilated place. Avoid using it in direct sunlight or in a closed vehicle. Consult a service center if the problem persists.
