How do I connect the AEMEX-HDMI-R2 converter?

Connect the HDMI source (e.g., laptop) to the HDMI Input port. Connect the HDMI Output to your display. For audio extraction, connect speakers or headphones to the 3.5mm audio output. Finally, power the converter using the provided USB cable.

What video resolutions does the converter support?

The converter supports standard resolutions up to 1080p@60Hz, including 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p, and 1080i.

Does the converter support HDCP?

Yes, it supports HDCP 1.4 for protected content playback. If your source enforces HDCP, ensure your display also supports it.

Can I use the converter without external power?

No, the converter requires 5V DC power via the included USB cable. It does not draw power from the HDMI source.

How do I extract audio from an HDMI source?

Connect the converter between your source and display. Plug a 3.5mm audio cable into the Audio Out port on the converter to extract stereo audio. The audio will play simultaneously with the HDMI video.

What should I do if there is no video output?

Check that all cables are securely connected. Ensure the display is set to the correct input. Try a different HDMI cable or source. If the issue persists, power-cycle the converter by unplugging the USB cable for 10 seconds.

Is the converter compatible with 4K sources?

No, the converter only supports resolutions up to 1080p. A 4K source must be set to output 1080p or lower to work.

Can I use the converter to output analog video (composite or component)?

No, this converter outputs HDMI plus analog audio via 3.5mm jack. It does not convert to composite or component video.

How do I clean the converter?

Unplug the device and wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use any liquids, sprays, or abrasive cleaners.

2. Overview

2.1 Introduction

The Audio Embedder/De-Embedder - HDMI 2.0 (AEMEX-HDMI-R2) is compatible with HDMI 2.0. It embeds audio from either an 3.5-mm or optical source to an HDMI or DVI-D source or camera. It also de-embeds (extracts) audio from an HDMI signal and outputs it to 3.5-mm analog and/or digital optical sound systems.

2.2 Features

• Supports HDMI, 3.5-mm analog audio, TOSLINK optical audio inputs and outputs.
• Using HDMI 2.0, the unit supports a maximum resolution of 4K @ 60 Hz 4:4:4 8 bits or 4K @ 60 4:2:0 10 bits (HDR).
• Embeds audio from either a 3.5-mm or an optical source to an HDMI or DVI-D signal.
• Creates an audio channel where one did not exist, such as in a DVI-D source or camera system.
• De-embeds (extracts) audio from HDMI signal and outputs it to 3.5-mm analog and/or digital optical sound systems. Audio is output to analog, optical, and HDMI at the same time.
• Requires no HDMI video output to extract audio.
• Supports embedding and de-embedding at the same time.
