Frequently Asked Questions - Easimo 900W FLYMO

How do I start the Flymo Easimo 900W?
Connect the mower to a power outlet, press and hold the safety lock button on the handle, then pull the start lever towards the handle. Release the safety lock once the motor runs.
How can I adjust the cutting height?
The cutting height is adjusted via a central lever near the wheels. Move the lever to one of three positions (low, medium, high) corresponding to 20-60 mm cutting height.
How do I empty the grass collection bag?
Lift the discharge flap, pull the bag handle to remove it. Empty the grass clippings and reattach the bag by sliding it onto the rear discharge chute until it clicks.
What should I do if the mower won't start?
Check the power cord connection, ensure the outlet is live, and verify that the safety lock is fully depressed. If it still won't start, inspect the switch and cord for damage.
Can I use an extension cord?
Yes, use a heavy-duty outdoor extension cord rated for at least 10A and with a length appropriate for your lawn. Avoid using cords longer than 25 m to prevent voltage drop.
How do I clean the mower?
Disconnect the power, brush off grass clippings from the blade and underside with a stiff brush. Do not use water directly on the motor housing. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth.
Is the mower safe to use in wet grass?
No, never use the mower in rain or on wet grass. Electric shock and slipping hazards increase significantly. Wait for dry conditions.
How often should I sharpen the blade?
Sharpen the blade at least once a season or after 20-30 hours of use. A dull blade tears grass, leading to brown tips. Always remove the blade carefully and wear gloves.
What spare parts are available for this model?
Replacement blades, grass collection bags, wheel sets, and handle grips are available from Flymo dealers or online. Always use genuine Flymo parts.
How do I store the mower?
Clean the mower, fold the handle if possible, and store in a dry, covered location. Keep away from children. Store the cord loosely coiled, not tightly wound.

To Start your Lawnmower

  1. Connect plug to mains and switch on.
The switchbox is provided with a lock-off button (M1) to prevent accidental starting.
  2. Press and hold the lock-off button (M) on the switch-box, then squeeze one of the Start/Stop levers towards the upper handle (N).
  3. Continue to squeeze the start/stop lever towards the upper handle and release the lock-off button (O).
  4. Lower the lawnmower to its proper operating position and commence mowing.
  5. NOTE - There are two start/stop levers fitted. Either one can be used for starting the lawnmower.
  6. IMPORTANT - Do not use the start/stop levers intermittently

To Stop your Lawnmower

  1. Release the pressure on the Start/Stop lever.

How to Mow

  1. Start mowing the edge of the lawn nearest to the power point so the cable is laid out on the lawn you have already cut. (S)
  2. Mow twice a week during the growing season, your lawn will suffer if more than a third of its length is cut at one time and this may also result in poor collection.

Do Not Overload Your Mower

Mowing long thick grass may cause the motor speed to drop, you will hear a change in the motor sound. If the motor speed drops you may overload your lawnmower which may cause damage. When mowing in long thick grass a first cut with the cutting height set higher will help reduce the load. See Cutting Height Adjustment.

Removing and Fitting the Blade

Switch off, wait until the blade has stopped rotating and disconnect from the mains electricity supply BEFORE attempting to remove or refit the blade.

Always handle the blade with care - sharp edges could cause injury. USE GLOVES.

Removing the Blade

  1. To remove the blade bolt, hold the blade firmly with a gloved hand and with a spanner, loosen the blade bolt by turning it anti-clockwise (P).
  2. Remove the blade bolt, washer and blade.(P)
  3. Inspect for damage and clean as necessary.
  4. In the event of a blade becoming difficult to remove, insert a screwdriver (Q1) into the hole (Q2) to lock the drive, then use a spanner (13mm A/F) to loosen the blade bolt by turning the spanner anti-clockwise. Ensure the screwdriver is removed before attempting to turn on the machine.

Renew your metal blade after 50 hours mowing or 2 years whichever is the sooner - regardless of condition. If the blade is cracked or damaged replace it with a new one.

Fitting the Blade

  1. Fit the blade to the shaft with the sharp edges of the blade pointing away from the shaft and you are able to read the text on the blade 'This side to grass'
  2. Re-assemble blade bolt through the washer and the blade.
  3. Hold the blade firmly with a gloved hand and tighten the blade bolt firmly with a spanner. Do not over tighten.
