How do I connect my TV to the Chord CAA-15 receiver?

Use an HDMI cable to connect the TV's HDMI ARC output to the receiver's HDMI ARC input. Ensure both devices support ARC and that the receiver is set to the correct input source.

Why is there no sound from the speakers?

Check that the speakers are properly connected to the receiver's speaker terminals with correct polarity. Ensure the receiver is powered on and the correct input is selected. Also verify the volume level and mute status.

How do I perform room calibration?

Plug in the included calibration microphone into the setup mic jack. Place the microphone at the listening position at ear height. Access the setup menu via the on-screen display and select 'Auto Calibration'. The receiver will emit test tones and adjust speaker levels and distances.

Can I use Bluetooth headphones with this receiver?

Yes, the Chord CAA-15 supports Bluetooth audio transmission. Go to the Bluetooth menu on the receiver and pair your headphones. Note that when Bluetooth headphones are connected, the internal speakers and wired headphone output may be muted.

How do I reset the receiver to factory settings?

While the receiver is on, press and hold the 'Power' button on the front panel for about 5 seconds until 'Factory Reset' appears on the display. Confirm the reset. All settings will be cleared.

What should I do if the receiver overheats?

Ensure the receiver has adequate ventilation space around it (at least 5 inches on top and sides). Do not block the cooling vents. If it shuts down due to thermal protection, turn it off and let it cool for 30 minutes before restarting.

How do I update the firmware?

Can I bi-wire my speakers?

Yes, if your speakers support bi-wiring, you can use two sets of speaker cables per speaker, connecting them respectively to the receiver's front left/right and surround back or height terminals. Be sure to remove the binding post jumpers on the speakers.

How do I clean the receiver?

Unplug the receiver. Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to wipe the exterior. Avoid getting moisture into any openings. Do not use alcohol, ammonia, or abrasive cleaners.

2. BASS EQ control - boost or cut low frequencies
3. MIDDLE EQ control - boost or cut middle frequencies
4. TREBLE EQ control - boost or cut high frequencies
5. CHORUS ON/OFF - switch to enable chorus effect

9. PHONES - connect headphones via 6.3mm stereo jack (mutes speaker)

Operation

Connect guitar to input (1) via a 6.3mm jack lead

If mp3 or other playback is to be used, connect this to the 3.5mm AUX IN connector (8)

If headphones are to be used for silent practice, connect these to the 6.3mm PHONES jack (9)

Turn the VOLUME control fully down and all other controls to the vertical (12 o'clock) position

Connect to mains using the supplied mains lead via the rear panel IEC connector and switch POWER on (11)

Gradually turn up the volume and play until sound is heard and increase to the required level

Adjust BASS, MIDDLE and TREBLE controls to achieve the required tone character

If "feedback" causes howling or squealing through the speaker, cutting certain EQ levels can help curtail this

It is advised to position the guitar facing away from the CAA-15 and not too close in order to avoid feedback

To give a special effect, the internal chorus can be engaged by pressing in the CHORUS ON/OFF switch (5)

Depth of this effect can be adjusted with the CHORUS control (6)

Turn down the VOLUME control before unplugging the guitar or switching off the CAA-15

Caution

Do not cover cooling vents at the rear of the amplifier. Keep away from damp or dusty environments

Check mains lead is in good condition and ensure mains outlet voltage is correct as indicated.

Use only approved fuse rated as shown. Unplug from mains before replacing fuse.
