- Retain the manual. If you pass the unit onto a third party make sure to include this manual.
- Check that the voltage marked on the rating label matches your mains voltage.
Damage
- Please inspect the unit for damage after unpacking.
- Do not continue to operate the unit if you are in any doubt about it working normally, or if it is damaged in any way - switch off, withdraw the mains adapter and consult your dealer.
Location of Unit
- The unit must be placed on a flat stable surface and not subjected to vibrations.
- Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable surfaces as the unit may fall off or tip over.
- The mains socket must be located near the unit and should be easily accessible.
- This unit is designed for indoor, domestic use only.
Temperature
- Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either hot or cold. Place the unit well away from heat sources such as radiators or gas/electric fires.
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other sources of heat.
- Do not expose the battery to direct sunlight or sources of excessive heat.
- Attention should be drawn to the use of apparatus in moderate climates.
Naked Flames
- Never place any type of candle or naked flame on the top of or near the unit.
Moisture
- To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or product damage, do not expose this unit to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing. No objects filled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the unit. Do not operate the unit with wet hands, near water or other liquid.
- If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can cause serious damage. Switch it off at the mains immediately. Withdraw the mains adapter and consult your dealer.
Ventilation
- To prevent the risk of electric shock or fire hazard due to overheating, ensure that curtains and other materials do not obstruct the ventilation vents.
- Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase, built-in cabinet or in another confined space. Ensure the unit is well ventilated.
Safety
- Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply before connecting/disconnecting other devices or moving the unit.
- Unplug the unit from the mains socket before a lightning storm.
- In the interests of safety and to avoid unnecessary energy consumption, never leave the unit switched on while unattended for long periods of time, e.g. overnight, while on holiday or while out of the house. Switch it off and disconnect the mains adapter from the mains socket.
Mains Adapter Cable
- Make sure the unit or unit stand is not resting on top of the mains adapter cable, as the weight of the unit may damage the cable and create a safety hazard.
Mains Adapter
- The mains adapter will continue to draw electricity from the mains supply when plugged in the mains socket. In the interests of safety and to avoid unnecessary energy consumption, never leave the adapter plugged in the mains socket while unattended for long periods of time. Disconnect the adapter from the power supply.

Use only power supplies listed in the user instructions.
Interference
- Do not place the unit on or near appliances which may cause electromagnetic interference. If you do, it may adversely affect the working of the unit, and cause a distorted sound.
Batteries
- Please dispose of batteries correctly by following the guidance in this manual.
- Do not expose the battery to direct sunlight or sources of excessive heat.
- Attention should be drawn to the environmental aspects of battery disposal.
Earphones
• Listening to loud sounds for prolonged periods of time may permanently damage your hearing.
- Before putting on earphones, turn the volume down then put the earphones on and slowly increase the volume until you reach a comfortable listening level.

Supervision
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the unit.
- Never let anyone especially children push anything into the holes, slots or any other openings in the case - this could result in a fatal electric shock.

Service
- To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove screws. The unit does not contain any user-serviceable parts. Please leave all maintenance work to qualified personnel.
- Do not open any fixed covers as this may expose dangerous voltages.
Maintenance
- Ensure to unplug the unit from the mains socket before cleaning.
- Do not use any type of abrasive pad or abrasive cleaning solutions as these may damage the unit's surface.

• Always unclip and extend the aerial when listening to DAB or FM radio. The aerial has a swivel base so can be set to different angles for best reception.
- Extend the aerial before switching to DAB mode for the first time. This will ensure that the initial scan captures all stations in your area.

Mains Power
Connect the mains adapter to the DC IN—⊖—⊕—⊕ socket and then the mains socket.

Handling the Batteries
- Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or battery leakage, which could cause personal injury or damage to property.
- Install the batteries correctly by following the polarity (+ and −) indications in the battery compartment.
• Use only the types of the batteries which are indicated in this manual. - Do not install new batteries with used ones and do not mix different types of batteries.
- Do not dispose of the used batteries as domestic waste. Dispose of them in accordance with local regulations.
- If you are not going to use the unit for a long time, remove the batteries to avoid damage from battery leakage and corrosion.
- Due to the short battery life span of some alkaline batteries. It is recommended to use rechargeable batteries are recommended. You will need to purchase a charger to charge the rechargeable batteries. This saves money and is more environmentally friendly.
Switching ON/OFF
While using battery power:
- Press button to switch the unit on.
- Press button again to switch the unit off.
While using mains power:
- Press button to switch the unit on.
- Press ⏻ button again to switch the unit in Standby mode.
To switch the unit off completely, unplug the power adapter from the mains socket.

- The clock will be updated automatically if you can receive DAB signal in your location. In order to synchronise to the current local time, you must leave it on the DAB station for a period of time.
• The LCD display shows the time in STANDBY mode.
Selecting Modes
Press MODE button repeatedly on the unit to switch between DAB and FM mode. The selected mode will show on the display.
Adjusting the Volume
Turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial clockwise/anticlockwise to increase/decrease the volume.
Adjusting the Brightness
Press the DIMMER/SNOOZE button to select the brightness level.

• The backlight setting is not available in Battery mode.
- In Battery mode, when the unit is idle for about 10 seconds, the backlight of the display will dim. Press any button to light it up again.
Alarm
Set Alarm On or Off
When the unit is in standby mode, press the ALARM button repeatedly to set the alarm status of Alarm 1 or Alarm 2. When the display shows Alarm 1 and Alarm 2, turn the –VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select On or Off. Press the –VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm. The display will show Alarm Saved. The display will show Alarm Not saved if the setting is not completed.
Setting the Alarm Timer
The clock must be correctly set for the timer to operate correctly.
- In On mode, press ALARM button repeatedly to select between Alarm 1 Setup or Alarm 2 Setup. Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
- Turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select options, and then press -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm the setting.

- Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm the settings, and the display will show Alarm 1/2 saved. After setting up the alarm, the LCD display will show 1 / 2 in Standby mode.
Snooze Function
To temporarily switch off alarm, press SNOOZE/DIMMER button to activate Snooze function when alarm sounds. Press SNOOZE/DIMMER button repeatedly to set snooze period time of 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes in turn. The options of SNOOZE time is depended on the Duration setting. The set snooze time will show on the display and unit will go to Standby mode.
Activate and Deactivate the Alarm Timer

For using the alarm function, make sure that the unit is using mains power.
- When the alarm rings, press button to turn off the alarm.
- To deactivate the alarm, press the ALARM button repeatedly to set Alarm 1/2 Off when in Standby mode.
Sleep Function
This function allows you to program the unit to switch off by itself after a set period of time.
- In ON mode, press the SLEEP button to activate the Sleep Timer, "Set sleep time" will show on the display. Press the SLEEP button repeatedly or turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to adjust the setting. The time (in minutes) will change in below sequence on every press: Sleep off/10/20/30/60/70/80/90 minutes.
- When you desired sleep time appears in the display, release the button and the sleep function will be activated in five seconds.
- When the sleep timer countdown reaches zero, the unit will switch off automatically. To turn the sleep function off while the sleep time is still counting down, press SLEEP button repeatedly to select Sleep Off.
- Press the SLEEP button to show the countdown time in the display.
Setting the Time and Date

In ON mode, press and hold MENU/INFO button, and then turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select System. Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.

Software Version
- In ON mode, press and hold the MENU/INFO button, and then turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select System. Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
- Turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select SW version. Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
- The display will show the software version of the unit.
System Reset
There may be times when you need to reset your unit to the factory settings. If you experience reception problems you may want to reset and try again. If you move the unit to another part of the country and pick up the local and national DAB stations in that area, your previously tuned channels may no longer be available.
- In ON mode, press and hold the MENU/INFO button, and then turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select System. Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
- Turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select Factory Reset. Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
- The display will show Factory Reset?. Turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select Yes, and then press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
- The display will show Restarting... and then perform a system reset.

After system reset, all tuned stations, DAB & FM preset stations will be erased.
When you turn on the radio it will automatically search and store all the available stations. You may conduct an additional full scan to ensure all stations are picked up and stored. It is also recommended every few months to run a new scan to pick up any new DAB that may have begun broadcasting after your radio scanned last time.
For initial use, your radio will conduct a full scan and store stations list in memory. Once the scanning is completed, the DAB stations will be displayed in alphanumeric order. The first station in the list will be selected.
Make sure the aerial is fully extended before selecting DAB mode, because your radio will automatically scan for DAB radio stations. If the aerial is not fully extended your radio will not tune in properly.


The clock will be updated automatically if you can receive DAB/FM signal in your location. In order to synchronize to the current local time, you must leave it on the DAB/FM station for a period of time.
Full Scan
The Full scan will search for the entire DAB Band III channels. After the scan has finished, the first alphanumerically found station will be automatically selected.

Full auto scan will not replace the DAB stations in memory. If you want to remove all the previous scanned stations, system reset is required.
- To activate Full scan, first press and hold the MENU/INFO button, then press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select Full scan, the display will show Scanning ... and a progressing slide bar.
- All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically, to explore and listening to the found stations, press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial and then turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial. Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
Secondary Services
You may see a "<" symbol after the name of the station, this indicates that there are secondary services available to that station. These secondary services contain extra services that are related to the primary station. e.g. a sports station may want to add extra commentaries. The secondary services are inserted directly after the primary station in the station list.
To select the secondary station, press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial when the "<" appears in the display before the station name. When the secondary service ends, the unit will automatically switch back to the primary station.
Manual Scan
As well as the auto tune function, you can manually tune the receiver. This can help you when adjusting your aerial or when adding stations that were missed while auto tuning.
- Press and hold the MENU/INFO button, and then turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select Manual tune, the display will now show Manual tune. Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
- Turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to cycle through the multiplex list, which are numbered from 5A to 13F.
- After your desired multiplex is selected, press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to enter the current multiplex, the top line will now display the multiplex and below you'll see the signal strength.
- You won't see any new radio stations or hear anything while in manual tune. To find the newly tuned in stations search through the Station List.
Pruning Radio Stations
If tuned you radio in more than one location (home and work) it will still have stored all the radio stations it found, although some may now be a very poor reception. The prune feature will delete all of the stations that are not available or are very poor reception.
- Press and hold the MENU/INFO button.
- Turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial and select Prune. Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
- Turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select Yes. Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
- All stored stations that are poor reception or from another location will now be deleted.
Presetting Stations
You can store up to 10 of your favourite DAB stations to the memory. This will enable you to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.
- To store a preset, you must first be listening to the station that you would like to save, press and hold the PRESET button. The words Save to P# will show on the display.

If a radio station has previously been stored you will see "the stored station name or frequency and P#" in the display. Press -VOLUME+/SELECT dial and you can save a new station into this preset position.
- Turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select your desired preset station number and then press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
- The station will be stored and the screen will then show Preset # Stored.
Recalling a Preset Station
- Once you have saved a station to one of the preset buttons, you can recall it by pressing the PRESET button.
- Turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select your desired preset station number. Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm the selection.
- If you choose a preset that hasn't been allocated a station, Preset Empty will be displayed.
DAB Display Modes
Every time you press the MENU/INFO button, the bottom line of the display will cycle through the following display modes.
DLS (Dynamic Label Segment)
Dynamic label segment is a scrolling message that the broadcaster may include with their transmissions. The message usually includes information, such as program details etc.
Signal Strength
The display will show a slide bar to indicate the signal strength, the stronger the signal, the longer the bar will be from left to right.
Programme Type
This describes the "Style" or "genre" of music that is being broadcast e.g. "Rock" or "Classical". If the information is not available, the display will show "
Multiplex Name
A multiplex is a collection of radio stations that are bundled and transmitted on one frequency.
There are national and local multiplexes. Local ones contain stations that are specific to that area.

DAB – unlike normal radio, groups together several radio stations and transmits them on one frequency.
Channel Number/Frequency
The number and frequency of the present station will be displayed.
Signal Error
This shows the quality of the signal reception, with 0 being the best quality reception.
Audio Bit Rate
The display will show the digital audio bit rate being received.
Time
The broadcaster (radio station) provides clock information automatically so there's no need to manually set this information.
Date
The broadcaster (radio station) provides date information automatically so there's no need to manually set this information.
Switching from DAB to FM Mode
Press the MODE Button to switch to FM mode. The display will show FM frequency.
Auto Scan
Ensure that you fully extend the aerial vertically before starting the auto scan. To search for an FM station, press the TUNE button, and the display will show Tuning. Press -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm. The display will show Scanning... Once a station has been found, the scanning will stop automatically.
Manual Scan
To search for FM stations manually, press the TUNE button. The display will show Tuning. Turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial until your desired frequency is reached.
Scan Setting
You can set your radio to tune in just the strongest stations or all stations.
- In ON mode, press and hold the MENU/INFO button, then turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select Scan setting, then press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
- Turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to toggle between Strong stations only or All stations.
- Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
Audio Setting

- The unit will automatically switch between stereo and mono mode, but you can override this and switch this function manually. This is helpful when receiving poor signal reception.

The received L/R stereo sound will be automatically combined into one single channel to suit the single speaker design of the unit.

Press and hold the MENU/INFO button, then turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to select Audio setting, then press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.
- Turn the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to toggle between Stereo allowed and Forced mono.
- Press the -VOLUME+/SELECT dial to confirm.

FM Display Modes
Every time you press the MENU/INFO button, the lower segment of the display will cycle through the following display modes:
Radio Text
As with DAB, the broadcaster can include a scrolling text that displays information about the current program. If Radio text information is not available, then the display will show No Radio Text.
Programme Type
This describes the "Style" or "genre" of music that is being broadcast e.g. "Rock" or "Classical".
Programme Name
This describes the "Style" or "genre" of music that is being broadcast e.g. "Rock" or "Classical". If the information is not available, the display will show "Programme Type".
Mono/Stereo
This shows whether the current station is broadcasting in stereo or mono.
Time
The broadcaster (Radio station) provides clock information automatically so there's no need to manually set this information.

The broadcaster (Radio station) provides date information automatically so there's no need to manually set this information.
Using Earphones
Turn down the volume before connecting the earphones. Slowly increase the volume with the earphones on until you reach your desired volume. When earphones are connected, the speaker is automatically disabled.

- Avoid listening to sound at excessive levels which could be harmful to your ears. Prolonged listening at full volume can damage the ears of the user.
• While using earphones, only mono audio is available.
Maintenance

Ensure the unit is fully unplugged from the mains socket before cleaning.
• To clean the unit, wipe the case with a slightly moist, lint-free cloth.
- Do not use any cleaning fluids containing alcohol, ammonia or abrasives.
- Do not spray an aerosol at or near the unit.
