Frequently Asked Questions - TSSTTV10LTB OSTER

How do I preheat the oven?
Always preheat before baking. Turn the Temperature Dial to desired setting and allow 5 minutes. The indicator light will cycle off when ready.
How do I clean the crumb tray?
After unplugging and cooling, swing-open the crumb tray under the unit. Tip the oven back, pull the knob forward and down, then shake off crumbs. Clean regularly to avoid buildup.
Why does my oven produce smoke or smell during first use?
This is normal. Turn temperature to max and let run for approximately 5 minutes to burn off manufacturing residues.
How do I set the toast darkness?
Turn the Toast Color Control/Timer dial clockwise past 10 minutes, then rotate back to your preferred shade (Light, Medium, or Dark). This ensures correct timer operation.
Can I use the Stay-On setting for baking?
Yes, for longer baking times. Turn the Timer dial counterclockwise to the Stay-On setting. The oven will run continuously until you manually turn it off. Monitor food to prevent overcooking.
What is the correct rack position for toasting?
Place the cooking rack in the Toast position (higher slot) for toasting. The rack should sit between the guides, not on top.
Can I use an extension cord?
Yes, if the electrical rating is the same as the product and the cord is arranged to avoid tripping hazards and not draped over counter edges.
Is the oven safe for use around children?
Close supervision is required. The appliance can get hot; children should not operate it. Keep away from flammable materials.
Can I put the baking pan directly on the heating elements?
No. Always place the baking pan on the cooking rack, not on the guides or elements, to avoid fire or electric shock risk.
What should I do if the oven doesn't heat up?
Ensure the timer dial is rotated past 10 minutes then back to desired setting (for toast) or set to a time or Stay-On for bake. Check power cord and outlet. If it still fails, contact Authorized Oster Service Center.
