Frequently Asked Questions - EKJMA Eikon

How do I connect the EKJMA microphone to my computer?
You need an audio interface or mixer with an XLR input that provides phantom power (48V). Connect the microphone via XLR cable, enable phantom power, and connect the interface to your computer via USB.
Does the EKJMA require phantom power?
Yes, it is a condenser microphone (if applicable) or for dynamic microphones, no phantom power is needed. However, for condenser models, phantom power (48V) is essential.
What is the polar pattern of the EKJMA?
The EKJMA features a cardioid polar pattern, which captures sound from the front and rejects noise from the sides and rear, ideal for solo vocals or instruments.
Can I use the EKJMA for recording instruments?
Absolutely. Its frequency response (50 Hz - 15 kHz) and cardioid pattern make it suitable for recording guitar amps, drums (overhead), and wind instruments.
How do I clean and maintain the EKJMA?
Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Avoid moisture and solvents. The included windscreen can be washed with mild soap and water, then air-dried.
What is the sensitivity and impedance of the EKJMA?
Sensitivity is typically around -54 dBV/Pa and impedance around 600 ohms, which is standard for dynamic microphones and compatible with most audio gear.
Is the EKJMA suitable for live performances?
Yes, its cardioid pattern and rugged build make it a good choice for live vocals, speeches, and presentations. It minimizes feedback and background noise.
Does the microphone come with a cable?
No, the EKJMA includes a clip, windscreen, and carrying case, but an XLR cable is sold separately. Ensure you use a balanced XLR cable for optimal performance.
Can I use the EKJMA with a smartphone?
You would need an XLR to TRRS adapter or an audio interface with smartphone compatibility. However, it's not recommended without proper amplification.
What should I do if the microphone produces no sound?
Check that phantom power is enabled (if condenser), the XLR cable is secure, and the volume on your mixer/interface is turned up. Also ensure the microphone is not muted.

  2. On the Transmitter, Press and hold the SET button and POWER button at the same time until battery LED begins to flash.
  3. RF indicator LED will light up on the receivers to show a successful connection.

Troubleshooting

On the single channel systems, transmitters will transmit to "CH A=A Frequency group" by default. If you are having trouble connecting to your Receiver, the Transmitter's assignment may have been changed to "CH B=B Frequency group".

To change back to "CH A":

First be sure all Receivers are off. With transmitter powered off, hold down the power button until new group assignment is shown on display (CHA or CHB). Now power on the Receiver and connection should set automatically. If not, try method of "Re-Pairing".

Power Supply

The USB to USB-C cable is for charging. Please use this to connect to a USB charging port or a qualified power adapter. While charging, please make sure that device is shut down to avoid the loss of electricity. This can lead to longer charging time and shorter battery life.
