Frequently Asked Questions - 550CX Baumr-AG

How do I start the lawn mower?
Insert the safety key into the key lock under the battery cover. Press and hold the safety switch, then pull the dead man's grip upward while holding the handle. Release the safety switch. The engine will start.
What should I do if the mower does not start?
Check that the safety key is properly inserted and the battery pack is charged and correctly installed. Ensure the blade is not blocked by debris. Follow the correct start procedure: press safety switch, then pull dead man's grip. If problem persists, consult troubleshooting in the manual.
How do I adjust the cutting height?
The mower has six cutting heights from 25 mm to 75 mm. Lift the height adjustment lever out of its current position and move it forward or backward to the desired height. Ensure the lever locks into the new position. Always adjust with the blade stopped.
Can I use the mower on wet grass?
No, do not use the mower if it is raining or if the grass is wet. Wet conditions increase the risk of electric shock, short circuit, and poor cutting results.
How do I charge the battery?
Use only the charger supplied by the manufacturer. Charge the battery in a dry area between 10°C and 30°C. The first charge takes 2 hours; subsequent charges also take about 2 hours. Disconnect the charger once fully charged.
Why does the mower stop during operation?
The battery may be depleted, or the battery overload protection may have tripped. Allow the battery to cool, raise the cutting height, and reduce walking speed. If the battery is empty, recharge it.
How do I replace the blade?
Remove the battery pack and safety key. Tilt the mower on its side with the height adjustment lever facing up. Loosen the blade bolt (counterclockwise) and remove the blade, washer, and bolt. Install a new or sharpened blade, ensuring the guide pins align. Tighten the bolt securely.
What maintenance is required after each use?
Charge the battery. Clean grass clippings from the collector, deck, and wheels. Use a brush or compressed air to remove debris. Check the blade sharpness and tighten any loose parts. Store the mower in a dry place.
How should I store the mower for long periods?
Remove the battery pack and safety key. Clean the mower thoroughly. Fold the handle down for compact storage. Store in a dry room at -20°C to +40°C, away from chemicals and fertilizers. Fully charge the battery before storage.
What is the typical battery life?
Lithium-ion batteries typically last 2 to 3 years or 300 to 500 charge cycles, whichever comes first. One cycle equals a full charge and discharge. To maximize life, avoid storing the battery depleted and charge it in the recommended temperature range.

The collector (15)

It acts as a foot and draft protection. If the lawnmower is pulled back, the collector prevents the feet from getting under the lawnmower and thus in contact with the rotating knife.

There is an indicator (16) on the collector that shows whether the collector is full or not. When the engine is running, and the indicator is:

- Lowered - Empty the collector (15) by lifting the cover (14) slightly and then lifting the collector by its handle (17). When emptied, lift the hatch (14) and hang the collector on its suspension hooks.

- Raised - The collector is not full, continue mowing.

STOP GO

When the indicator is closed, stop the engine, and empty the collector. When the indicator is open, continue cutting.

Hatch, draft (14)

Protects against accidental touching of the blade if the collector is not mounted on the mower, in addition it holds the collector (15) in place.

Cutting

Baumr-AG 550CX - Cutting - 1

WARNING! • Do not walk faster than the mower has time to mow. • It can be dangerous to mow on slopes. Do not use the mower as it slopes more than 15^ . Risk of the operator slipping / falling and then losing control of the mower. Cut parallel to the slope, do not go up and down the slope. Risk of the operator falling and being run over by the mower. • Never pull the mower towards you. Increased risk of a foot coming under the mower. • Never cut backwards when walking. Risk of the operator falling. • If the mower vibrates violently, switch it off immediately and rectify the fault. • The blade continues to rotate for a few seconds after the machine is turned off. Allow the engine / blade to stop rotating completely before restarting the engine. • Do not mow grass that is wet due to rain or dew. Risk of short circuit.

Battery-powered lawnmowers are suitable for lawns that are mowed often and regularly. To create a well-kept lawn, we recommend that it is mowed at least twice a week during the growing season. Do not cut more than 20 - 50mm of grass at any one time. If the grass needs to be cut more, it should be done in two steps. First in the highest cutting position in one direction (A) and then in the desired cutting height in the transverse (B) direction.

How long the operating time and how much cutting area the lawnmower can mow depends on your factors, including:

  • The length of the grass and the set cutting height.
    • The density of the lawn.
  • Walking speed and the size of the overlap.
    • Sharpness of the knife blade.
    • Number of battery packs and their status.

Baumr-AG 550CX - Cutting - 2

It is estimated that for normal-height grass in mowing position 3, it is possible to mow a grass area of approx. 275-325 m ^2 with a battery pack of 2.5Ah without recharging and approx. 550-650 m ^2 with two battery packs of 2.5Ah.

  1. Place the mower on a flat and level surface, if the grass is very high, tilt the mower slightly backwards so that the front wheels are in the air to reduce the engine resistance at start.
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Start mowing and empty the collector if necessary.
  4. When mowing is complete, turn off the engine and remove the key (25).

- Clean the draft and the space at the blade under the mower with a brush. Scrape off ingrained dirt with a piece of wood or plastic.

Replacing/Sharpening the Blade

Check regularly that the knife is sharp. A sharp knife cuts the grass more easily and consumes less energy, which means that larger areas can be cut without the battery pack having to be recharged. Replace the blade immediately (29) immediately if it is worn, unbalanced, bent, or damaged.

11 29 28

To disassemble the knife blade:

  1. Carefully turn the mower on its side with the height adjustment lever (11) facing up.
  2. Grasp the blade (29) firmly and loosen the blade bolt (28) anti-clockwise.
  3. Remove the knife bolt, washer, and knife blade.
  4. Replace or sharpen the knife. When sharpening, file the edge of the knife with even and gentle grips with a fine-toothed file. Be sure to cut equally on both sides of the knife so that its balance is not affected.

  5. Check the balance by holding the knife blade in its bolt hole with a pencil or similar. The knife blade must then be able to be kept in balance. If not, the knife blade is unbalanced.

  6. Refit the knife, washer, and screw. Make sure that the guide pins enter the guide holes on the knife blade.

Wheel Replacement/Disassembly

  1. Loosen the wheel hub with a small-slotted screwdriver.
  2. Unscrew the locknut and pull out the wheel.
  3. To mount the wheel, tighten the locknut and press the hub.
