Frequently Asked Questions - 200-073 Meec Tools

How do I drain the condensate from the tank?
Open the drain tap located at the bottom of the tank. This should be done daily or after each use to prevent rust and maintain tank capacity.
What is the duty factor and why is it important?
The duty factor is S3-25, meaning the compressor can run for 2.5 minutes and must then rest for 7.5 minutes. This prevents overheating of the electric motor.
What should I do if the motor overheats?
The motor has an automatic overheating protection that shuts off the power. Wait for the motor to cool down, then turn the I/O button to OFF and back to ON to restart.
How often should I inspect the tank for corrosion?
At least every 12 months. In humid or corrosive environments, inspect every 3 months. The wall thickness should not be less than 2 mm.
Can I leave the compressor pressurized when not in use?
No, always turn off the compressor, unplug it, and drain the air tank after use. Leaving it pressurized can lead to corrosion and safety risks.
How do I adjust the working pressure?
Turn the relief valve clockwise to increase pressure and counterclockwise to decrease. Check the set value on the pressure gauge.
Can I use the compressor for painting?
Yes, but ensure the air is clean and dry. Consider using a moisture filter and appropriate spray gun. The compressor is not intended for professional or food-grade applications.
What safety precautions should I take when using the compressor?
Always wear safety glasses and ear protection. Never point the air jet at people or animals. Keep children away. Do not use with wet hands or barefoot.
What does the safety valve do?
The safety valve automatically releases pressure if the pressure switch malfunctions, preventing over-pressurization and ensuring safe operation.
Can I use an extension cord?
If necessary, use a heavy-duty extension cord with sufficient rating. Keep the cord away from sharp edges and heat. Ensure the plug is properly grounded.

Special safety instructions

  • Never point the air jet at people, animals or your own body. Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from foreign objects caught up in the air jet.
  • Never point tools connected to the compressor at the compressor.
  • Do not use the machine if you are barefoot, or if your hands and feet are wet.
  • Do not pull the power cord to remove the plug from the mains, or to move the compressor.
  • Do not expose the machine to the weather and wind.
  • Do not transport the compressor with a pressurised air tank.
  • Do not do any welding or mechanical work on the air tank. Replace the air tank if it gets damaged or rusty.
  • Keep children and animals at a safe distance from the work area.
  • This machine is not intended to be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities. Nor by persons without the requisite experience and knowledge, unless they receive assistance or instructions by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Keep children under supervision to make sure they do not play with the machine.
    • Do not place flammable objects, or objects made of nylon or fabric, near or on the compressor.
  • Do not clean the machine with flammable liquids or solvents. Only clean with a damp cloth. Check that the plug has been unplugged from the power outlet.
  • The compressor must only be used to compress air. The machine must not be used for any other type of gas.
  • The compressed air produced by this machine must under no circumstances be used for pharmaceutical purposes, in hospitals or in the food industry. The compressed air is not suitable for filling gas tubes for diving.
  • Do not lift the compressor with the telescopic handle. This handle is only intended to be used to pull the machine.

NOTE:

  • This compressor is designed to work with the duty factor specified on the rating plate for technical data (e.g: S3-25 means 2.5 minutes of operation and 7.5 minutes at rest) to avoid overheating the electric motor. There is an overheating protection in the motor that automatically switches off the power supply if the motor overheats. The motor restarts automatically when the normal working temperature is restored.
  • To simplify restarting the machine it is important, in addition to the specified steps, to also move the I/O button to OFF and then back to ON.
  • All compressors are equipped with a safety valve in the event of irregular functioning of the pressure switch to guarantee the safety of the machine.

USE

Before use

  1. Check that the electrical installation data corresponds with the data on the rating plate.
  2. Check that the power switch is in the OFF position plugging the plug into the mains supply
  3. The compressor is now ready to use.

Use

  1. Start the compressor by setting the power switch in the On position.
  2. The compressor switches off when the maximum calibration value is reached (set at the factory).
  3. The compressor restarts automatically when the minimum calibration value is reached (2 bar between max. and min. value).
  4. The pressure in the tank is controlled with the pressure gauge.
  5. The compressor continues automatically with this cycle until the power switch is set in the Off position. Wait at least 10 seconds after the compressor has been switched off before starting it again.
  6. Check that the air consumption and maximum operating pressure correspond with the set working pressure. The working pressure can be adjusted with the relief valve. Turn the relief valve clockwise to increase the pressure, and anticlockwise to reduce it. Check the set value with the pressure gauge.
  7. Switch off the machine, unplug the plug and empty the compressed air tank after work.

MAINTENANCE

NOTE: Unplug the plug and completely empty the compressed air tank before working on the machine. Empty the condensate formed in the tank at regular intervals, or when you have finished working. This is to protect the tank from rust and to maintain full capacity.

Corrosion must be prevented

Depending on the conditions of use, condensation may accumulate inside the tank, and this must be emptied out every day. This may be done manually, by opening the draining tap, or by means of the automatic condensation drainer, if fitted to the tank.

During maintenance, every 12 months, the user or a Client Service expert must check the presence of internal corrosion and perform an external visual control. If the receiver is used with an oil-free compressor, or in surroundings that have a high level of humidity, or in adverse conditions (poor ventilation, corrosive agents,...) the inspections should be made every 3 months.

The actual wall thickness of the tank after corrosion should not be smaller than 2mm for the shell and 2 mm for the bands.
