Cleaning LCD Screen

Touch the screen gently. The screen is made of glass which can be scratched or damaged.

To clean fingerprints or dust from the LCD screen, we recommend using a soft / nonabrasive cloth such as a camera lens cloth to clean the LCD screen.

If you use a commercial LCD cleaning kit, do not apply the cleaning liquid directly to the LCD screen. Clean the LCD screen with a cleaning cloth moistened with the liquid.

3. Getting Started

3.1 Attach a Stand

To attach the stand, screw in the stand clockwise until it is secure.

To remove the stand, unscrew the stand counter-clockwise until it is detached.

3.2 Battery Installation

  1. Place the remote control face down. Press the tab (number 1) in Picture 1 to the right and pull out the battery holder.
  2. Remove the plastic insulator. (Picture 2)
  3. Place the battery with the positive polarity face up on the battery holder and insert the battery holder into the remote control (Picture 3).

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Turn on/off the Digital Photo Frame

Poweron

a: Connect the AC adapter from the digital photo frame DC-In jack to an electrical outlet.

b: Press and hold the [💡] on the remote or device, it will be turned on.

Poweroff

Press & hold the [ 🔊 ] on the remote control, the device will be turned off.

4.2 OSD Navigation

4.2.1 Main Menu

The Main Menu is shown below. Press the Left or Right button to select an icon, and then press [ ]

Press briefly [ 🔊 ], the device will return to the Main Menu.

4.3 Favorite (VFM836-54/74)

You can copy favorite pictures and music from memory card or USB flash drive into a Favorite folder. To add a file to Favorite, enter "File Manage" on the Main Menu, select the file you want to add, press & hold [ ] on the remote control for the Storage Select menu, and select "Favorite" then press Enter. On the copy confirmation menu, select "Yes" (blue) and then press Enter.

4.4 File Management

Use [◀/▶] to select "File Manage" on the Main Menu, press Up or Down on the remote to select a memory source, and then press [▶II]. The File Manage will list all the files stored on the memory source media. Press and hold down the [▶] button to enter the File Manage sub menu. The following options are available:

4.5 Viewing Photos

4.5.1 Slideshow

Use [◀/▶] to select "Photo" on the Main Menu, press Up or Down on the remote to select a memory source media that contains your picture(s), and then press [▶Ⅱ]. To exit slideshow, press the [◀button.

To start slideshow at a particularer photo, press either the [◀/▶] button and then press [▶].

4.5.2 Slideshow Setup

During slideshow, either press the Shortcut button or press & hold [▶] to display the Slideshow setup menu, use [▲/▼] to select an option, press [▶] cycle through the available options. To exit the setup menu press [→]. The following Slideshow setup menu options are available as shown below:

Origin File: display images from Current Directory or All Directory.

Background Music: turn on or off the background music.

Zoom: press [▶] repeatedly to zoom an image from 1 to 5 times. While in a zoomed mode, use the Up/Down/Left/Right buttons to scroll to areas of an image.

Rotate: press [▶] repeatedly to rotate an image by 0, 90, 180 or 270 degree.

Brightness: use [◀/▶] to change the brightness level, the default value is 10.

Slideshow: The following 13 transition effects are available: Random, Bottom to top, Top to bottom, Wipe left, Wipe right, Close, Open, Open from middle, Close from edge, Blind, Wipe top right, Wipe top left, None. [◀/▶] to select the transition effect.

Interval: use [◀/▶] to select among Fast, Middle, Slow and Self-defined.

Display: use [◀/▶] to select among Auto, Original, Crop and Stretch.

Mode: move [◀/▶] to switch among Random, Order.

4.6 Viewing Video

4.6.1 Video Playback

Press [◀/▶] to select "Video" on the Main Menu, select a memory source device on the pull-down menu, and press [▶] in the Video browser menu, select the video file you want to playback and press [▶] enable a full screen. The VFM836 supports playback from the last stop. If the selected video had been stop previously, select "Yes" (blue) on the Movie Breakpoint Select pop-up menu. During the playback, press [▶] pause, and the movie information will be shown on top of the screen. Press [▲/▼] to fast forward or rewind the playback.

4.6.2 Video Playback Setup

During the video playback, [ ] either press the Shortcut button or press & hold the [ ] for the Video playback sub-menu. The following options are available: Previous, Next, Play/Pause, Rewind, Fast forward, Skip, Repeat, Display video scaling, and Brightness.

Previous: go to the previous video.

Fast forward: fast forward the current video.

Repeat: press [▶II] to select among Repeat All, Repeat One (repeat the selected video) Repeat Once and None.

Skip: skip to the specified time for playback. Select Skip, press [▶II] to pop up a timer input box on the left corner of the screen, and then press [▲/▼] to set an accurate time.

Display: press [▶II] to select among Original, Stretch, Crop, Auto and Actual.

Brightness: press [▶II] to pop up the brightness bar, and press [◀/▶] to adjust the brightness level.

4.7 Listen to Music

4.7.1 Music Playback

Use [◀/▶] to select "Music" on the Main Menu, select a memory source on the pull-down menu, and press [▶] to enter. On the Music Browser menu, select the music file you want to playback and press [▶] . The VFM836 supports playback from the last stop. If the selected music file had been stop previously, it will playback automatically. During music playback, press [▲/▼] to go back to the previous or advance to the next song. Adjust the volume by pressing [◀/▶], and pause by pressing [▶].

4.9 Setup

Use [◀/▶] to select "Setup" on the Main Menu. Available settings are Common, Power, Media and Time on the pull-down menu as shown below.

4.9.1. Common

Language: use [◀/▶] to select your language.

Background: use [◀/▶] to choose your favorite style.

USB Mode: select between USB (USB Flash drive) and PC.

Product Information: display firmware version and available internal memory.

Update: for firmware upgrade.

Factory Default: Press ENTER to restore settings to factory default. Select "Yes" (blue) and press ENTER again to confirm.

Boot Mode: use [◀/▶] to select a startup mode. Available startup modes are: Last Stop, Photo, Video, Music, E-Book, and Calendar.

4.9.2. Power

Backlight: set the backlight brightness level.

Backlight off: use [◀/▶] to set the timer to turn off the backlight automatically.

Available options are: Never, 10sec., 30sec., 60sec., and 90sec.

Power off: use [◀/▶] to set the timer to turn off the VFM836. Available options are: Never, 1min., 3min., 5min., and 10min.

4.9.3 Media

Video: there are Repeat and Display video scaling settings. Repeat options are: All, One, None, and Once. Display video scaling options are: Auto, Actual, Crop, Original, and Stretch. Use [◀/▶] to select options.

Photo: Copy Origin File, Background Music, Slideshow, Interval, and Display from section 4.5.2. use [◀/▶] to select options.

Music: there are Origin File :All Directories (all folders) or Current Directory, and Repeat : All, One (repeat selected file), None, and Once settings. Use [◀/▶] to select options.

Ebook: During E-Book Browser either press the Shortcut button or press & hold [▶]p pop-up submenu. The following options are available:

Background Music, Auto Scroll, Font Color, Go to Page. Use [▲/▼] to select an option. Press [◀/▶] to change a setting, press the [图标] to save your settings and exit.

4.9.4 Time

Date: use [◀/▶] to move among Year, Month and Date, and press [▲/▼] to change value.

Mode: select either 24Hour or 12Hour.

Time: use [◀/▶] to move between hour and minute, and press [▲/▼] to change value.

Adjust: The clock may be slow or fast after the unit has been operated for a long period. If the clock is slow or fast, press [◀/▶] to adjust the clock; Fast :[▶] Slow: [◀] Maximum "6" seconds; Minimum "-6"seconds

Timer:

Timer: Off is disable and On is enable.
Turn on: set the time for the VFM836 to power on automatically.
Turn off: set the time for the unit to power off automatically.
Frequency: how often you want the unit to use the timer after the timer is enable. Available options are: Everyday, Weekday, Weekend, and Once. Timer:

Alarm:

Alarm: Off is disable and On is enable.
Time: set the time for the VFM836 to sound an alarm after the alarm is enable
Frequency: how often you want the unit to use the timer after the timer is enable. Available options are: Everyday, Weekday, Weekend, and Once.
Ring: select a ring tone for an alarm. Available ring tones are: Ring 1, Ring 2, and Ring 3.

ViewSonic warrants its products to be free from defects in material and workmanship, under normal use, during the warranty period. If a product proves to be defective in material or workmanship during the warranty period, ViewSonic will, at its sole option, repair or replace the product with a like product. Replacement product or parts may include remanufactured or refurbished parts or components.

How long the warranty is effective:

ViewSonic Digital Photo Frame are warranted for 1 year for labor from the date of the first customer purchase.

Who the warranty protects:

This warranty is valid only for the first consumer purchaser.

What the warranty does not cover:

  1. Any product on which the serial number has been defaced, modified or removed.

  2. Damage, deterioration or malfunction resulting from:

a. Accident, misuse, neglect, fire, water, lightning, or other acts of nature, unauthorized product modification, or failure to follow instructions supplied with the product.
b. Repair or attempted repair by anyone not authorized by ViewSonic.
c. Causes external to the product, such as electric power fluctuations or failure.

d. Use of supplies or parts not meeting ViewSonic's specifications.

e. Normal wear and tear.

f. Any other cause which does not relate to a product defect.

  1. Any product exhibiting a condition commonly known as “image burn-in” which results when a static image is displayed on the product for an extended period of time.

  2. Removal, installation, one way transportation, insurance, and set-up service charges.

How to get service:

  1. For information about receiving service under warranty, contact ViewSonic Customer Support (please refer to Customer Support page). You will need to provide your product's serial number.
  2. To obtain warranted service, you will be required to provide (a) the original dated sales slip, (b) your name, (c) your address, (d) a description of the problem, and (e) the serial number of the product.
  3. Take or ship the product freight prepaid in the original container to an authorized ViewSonic service center or ViewSonic.
  4. For additional information or the name of the nearest ViewSonic service center, contact ViewSonic.

Limitation of implied warranties:
