How do I insert the heating plates?

Open the lid by releasing the handle lock. Place the top and bottom heating plates into their corresponding slots and press until they click into the clasps. To remove, open the clasps and lift out.

What is the lock position for different sandwich thicknesses?

The lock on the back has two positions: Position 1 for approx. 22 mm thick sandwiches or waffles, and Position 2 for approx. 35 mm thick sandwiches.

Can I clean the heating plates in the dishwasher?

Yes, the heating plates are dishwasher safe. Alternatively, you can wash them in warm water with mild detergent. The appliance itself must never be immersed in water.

What should I do before first use?

Clean all parts as described. Operate the appliance empty for 5 minutes with each set of plates. Allow to cool, then clean the plates again.

Why does the ready indicator light up green then go out?

The green ready indicator lights up when the plates reach the desired temperature. It goes out during cooking and lights up again when the cooking time is complete.

Can I use metal utensils on the plates?

No, never use sharp metal objects as they will damage the non-stick coating. Use wooden or plastic utensils.

How do I store the appliance?

Ensure all parts are completely dry. Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight, at a temperature between 5°C and 20°C, out of reach of children.

What is the baking time for waffles?

Baking time is approximately 6–8 minutes. You can adjust based on recipe and preference.

The appliance does not heat up. What could be wrong?

■ Only connect the appliance if the mains voltage at the socket corresponds to what is indicated on the type plate.

Checking the delivery

1. Unpack the appliance. Do not use sharp or pointed objects to do this. Carefully remove all parts of the packaging, plastic profiles, tape and foam padding.
2. If the delivery is incomplete or the appliance has been damaged during transport, please contact our Service department (see page EN-19).

First use

Cleaning before use

Before first use, clean all parts as described in chapter „Cleaning and maintenance“ (see page EN-16).

Setting up the appliance

Place the appliance in a location that meets the following requirements:

• The work surface must be flat, stable, heat-resistant and dry.
• The location should be easy to clean, well lit and easily accessible.

Inserting the heating plates

1. Open the appliance by opening the handle lock (6) and lifting up the lid (4).

1. Place the top heating plate (8) and the bottom heating plate (9) into their corresponding slots.

2. Press the heating plates into the slots until they click into place in the clasps (7)(10).

- Open the clasps (7)(10) and remove the heating plates from their slots.

Switching the heating plates

CAUTION

Risk of burns!

The heating plates will become very hot during operation.

■ Make sure the heating plates have cooled completely before touching them.

Initial operation

Before using the device for the first time, operate it once with each heating plate empty.

1. Insert the toastie plates (A), the grill plates (B) and the waffle plates (C) into the appropriate slots (see„Inserting the heating plates“ on page EN-10) g one after another.
2. Close the lid (4) each time and insert the mains plug into the socket. The operating indicator (1) will light up red, and the appliance will start to preheat.
3. Switch off the appliance after 5 minutes by removing the mains plug from the socket.
4. Allow the appliance and the heating plates to cool down.
5. Remove the heating plates from the slots.
6. Clean the heating plates with a soft sponge and a mild detergent.
7. Dry the heating plates thoroughly.

Operation

• Read the „Safety notices“ chapter from page EN-4.
• Prepare the appliance as described in chapter „First use“ on page EN-10.

CAUTION

Risk of burns!

The heating plates will become very hot during operation.

■ Do not touch the heating plates during operation.
■ Disconnect the mains plug from the socket and allow the heating plates to cool down before removing them from the slots.

The outer surface of the appliance can become very hot during operation. Touching it with bare hands can lead to burns.

■ Do not touch the outer-surface of the appliance with your hands during operation.

■ To protect your hands, use oven mitts or similar to touch the appliance.

NOTICE

Risk of damage!

Improper handling of the appliance can lead to damage.

■ Do not use any sharp metal objects to remove the food, as these would damage the non-stick coating of the heating plates.

■ Only use heat-resistant-cut lery that is made from either wood or plastic.

Lock

The lock (3) on the back of the appliance allows you to adjust the height of the lid (4) to 2 possible positions.

- Position 1

For baking waffles and toasting or grilling sandwiches approximately 22 mm thick.

- Position 2

For toasting or grilling sandwiches approximately 35 mm thick.

Switching on the appliance

- Insert the mains plug into the socket to switch on the appliance.

Switching off the appliance

- Pull the mains plug out of the socket to switch off the appliance.

Baking waffles

NOTICE

Risk of damage!

If you use too much batter or add too much oil to the batter, batter or oil may spill out during baking and drip into the heating elements or the interior of the appliance. This will make the cleaning process more difficult and can damage the appliance.

■ Start with a smaller amount of dough the first few times to get a feel for the right amount. 9
■ Use kitchen roll to soak up excess oil on the heating plates.

1. Insert the waffle plates (C) into their corresponding slots (see „Inserting the heating plates“ on page EN-10).

2. Set the lock (3) to position 1.

3. Close the lid (4) and insert the mains plug into the socket. The operating indicator (1) will light up red, and the appliance will start to preheat.

4. Once the heating plates have reached the desired temperature, the ready indicator (2) will light up green.

5. Coat the heating plates with butter or oil.
6. Place the waffle batter on the bottom heating plate (9) and close the lid.
7. The baking process starts and the ready indicator goes out. Baking time is approximately 6–8 minutes. You can adjust the baking time for different recipes or according to your preference.
8. When the waffles are done baking, the ready indicator will light up green again.
9. Open the lid and remove the waffle.

Use wooden picks or bamboo sticks to remove the waffles.

Toasting and grilling

For toasting or grilling sandwiches.

1. Insert the toastie plates (A) or the grill plates (B) into their corresponding slots (see „Inserting the heating plates“ on page EN-10).
2. Close the lid (4) and insert the mains plug into the socket. The operating indicator (1) will light up red, and the appliance will start to preheat.
3. Once the heating plates have reached the desired temperature, the ready indicator (2) will light up green.
4. Coat the heating plates with butter or oil.
5. Place the sandwiches on the bottom heating plate (9) and close the lid.
6. The toasting process starts and the ready indicator goes out. Toasting time is approximately 6–8 minutes. You can adjust the toasting time for different recipes or according to your preference.

7. When the sandwiches are done toasting, the ready indicator will light up green again.

8. Open the lid and remove the sandwiches.

Use wooden picks or bamboo sticks to remove the sandwiches.

i Select position 1 for the lock (3) to toast sandwiches with a regular amount of filling (approx. 22 mm thick). If you want to toast sandwiches with extra filling (approx. 35 mm thick), set the lock to position 2 by sliding both sliding latches inwards (see chapter „Lock“ on page EN-13).

Cleaning and maintenance

■ Do not put the appliance in the dishwasher under any circumstances. This would destroy it.

■ Pull the mains plug out the socket.
■ Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.

- Store the appliance at a storage temperature between 5°C and 20°C (room temperature) in a place that can be securely closed and is out of the reach of children.

Disposing of old electrical devices in an environmentally-friendly manner

Electrical appliances contain harmful substances as well as valuable resources.

Every consumer is therefore required by law to dispose of old electrical appliances at an authorised collection or return point. They will thus be made available for environmentally-sound, resource-saving recycling.

You can dispose of old electrical appliances free of charge at your local recycling center.

Batteries and rechargeable batteries, lamps and bulbs

If necessary, old single-use and rechargeable batteries that are not encased by an old electrical appliance, as well as lamps/bulbs that can be removed from an old electrical appliance without being destroyed, must be removed and disposed of separately before you return the appliance.

This symbol means that single-use and rechargeable batteries must not be disposed of with other household waste.

Consumers are required by law to bring all single-use and rechargeable batteries, regardless of whether they contain harmful substances*) or not, to a collection point operated by their communal authority or borough or to a retailer, so that they can be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner and so that valuable resources (e.g. cobalt, nickel or copper) can be recovered.

Single-use and rechargeable batteries can be returned free of charge.

Some of the possible contents (e.g. mercury, cadmium and lead) are toxic and, if improperly disposed of, can have adverse effects on the environment. Heavy metals, for instance, can have detrimental health effects on humans, animals and plants and accumulate in the environment and food chain, and then enter the body indirectly through the consumption of food.

There is a high risk of fire with old lithium batteries. Special care must therefore be taken to properly dispose of old lithium batteries and rechargeable batteries. Improper disposal can also lead to internal and external short circuits due to thermal effects (heat) or mechanical damage. A short circuit can lead to a fire or an explosion and have serious consequences for people and the environment. It is therefore important to tape off the terminals of lithium batteries and rechargeable batteries before disposing of them to prevent an external short circuit.

Single-use and rechargeable batteries that are not built into the device should be removed before disposal and then disposed of separately.

Please only dispose of single-use and rechargeable batteries in a discharged state!

If possible, use rechargeable batteries in place of disposable batteries.

If you have sufficient space, we recommend retaining the packaging, at least during the warranty period. If the appliance needs to be sent out for repairs, only the original packaging will provide sufficient protection.
