Yes, it is fully compatible with all Fujifilm X-mount cameras, including X-T, X-H, X-S, and X-Pro series.
What is the effect of the APD filter?
The Apodization (APD) filter creates smoother, creamier bokeh by reducing the brightness of out-of-focus highlights, resulting in more natural and pleasing background blur.
Can I use filters on this lens?
Yes, the lens has a 62mm filter thread and accepts standard filters such as UV, polarizing, and ND filters.
Does the lens have weather sealing?
No, the XF56mmF1.2 R APD is not weather sealed. It is recommended to use caution in dusty or wet conditions.
What is the minimum focus distance?
The minimum focus distance is 70 cm (27.6 inches), allowing for close-up portrait shots.
Does this lens have image stabilization?
No, the lens does not have built-in optical image stabilization. However, it can be used with camera bodies that have in-body stabilization (IBIS).
How does the XF56mmF1.2 R APD compare to the non-APD version?
The APD version has a slightly slower autofocus and reduced transmission (about 1/3 stop slower) but offers superior bokeh quality due to the apodization filter.
Can I use a teleconverter with this lens?
No, Fujifilm teleconverters are not compatible with this lens due to its optical design and the APD element.
Is this lens suitable for portrait photography?
Absolutely. The 56mm focal length (85mm equivalent) and f/1.2 aperture make it an excellent choice for portraits, providing beautiful subject isolation and bokeh.
What accessories are included with the lens?

ENGLISH

  • Attach the front and rear caps when the lens is not in use.
  • Store the lens and fi Iter in cool, dry locations to prevent mold and rust. Do not store in direct sunlight or with naphtha or camphor moth balls.
  • Keep the lens dry. Rusting of the internal mechanism can cause irreparable damage.
    • Leaving the lens in extremely hot locations could cause damage or warping.
  • Attach the ND fi Iter securely. A fall from the lens could damage the threads.
  • Do not drop or strike the ND filter. Deformation of the threads could render the filter unusable.
  • Do not leave the ND fi Iter in locations exposed to direct sunlight or to high temperatures or humidity. Discoloration could interfere with the normal functioning of the fi Iter.
  • Ghosting may occur in rare cases depending on lighting conditions. This can be addressed by removing the filter.

The Aperture Ring

At settings other than A, you can adjust aperture by rotating the lens aperture ring (exposure modes A and M).

The built-in apodization fi Iter reduces the amount of light passing through the lens; the effective aperture (f-number) is shown by the red numbers on the aperture ring.

The Apodization Filter

The built-in apodization fi Iter progressively reduces transmittance from the center of the aperture outwards. The area in focus appears in high resolution as always, but the gradations in the defocused areas create bokeh with a beautiful melting effect. The effective aperture (f-number) due to the reduction in transmittance is shown by the red numbers on the aperture ring; the strength of the effect can be judged by the difference between the actual and effective apertures. The most striking effects are achieved at wide apertures (low f-numbers); to keep exposure in the supported range when shooting outdoors, use the ND8 neutral density (ND) fi Iter, which reduces the brightness (and only the brightness) of the light entering the camera to an eighth of its actual value, an amount equivalent to three aperture stops. Users of cameras with phase-detection autofocus should note that contrast-detect AF will be used due to the presence of the built-in apodization fi Iter.
