How to recharge the battery of the Metabo SB 18 LTX BL Q I drill?

Insert the battery fully into the sliding compartment of the charger (e.g., ASC 55). The control indicator flashes during charging. Once charging is complete, the indicator stays on. You can leave the battery on the charger in maintenance mode.

What does the permanently lit warning indicator mean?

If the warning indicator (4) stays on, the battery is not charging because its temperature is too high or too low. Wait until the battery reaches a temperature between 0 °C and 50 °C for charging to start automatically.

Can I charge non-rechargeable batteries with the Metabo charger?

No, never attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries. This poses a risk of explosion. Use only original Metabo or CAS compatible batteries (Li-Ion).

What types of batteries are compatible with the charger?

Metabo chargers are designed for Li-Ion batteries from 12 V to 36 V, 1.3 Ah to 10 Ah, 3 to 10 cells. Some chargers can also charge NiCd batteries. See the technical specifications of the charger.

Can I leave the battery on the charger after charging?

Yes, the charger automatically switches to maintenance mode. The battery remains operational at any time without risk of overcharging.

How to use the USB-C port of the ASC 290 charger?

Open the cover of the USB-C port and connect a compatible USB device. The USB-C port is only powered when no battery is being charged. If a battery and a USB device are connected, USB charging starts after the battery charging is complete.

What to do if the warning indicator flashes?

Flashing indicates a defective or improperly inserted battery. Immediately remove the battery from the charger and check its condition. Insert it correctly into the sliding compartment.

What is the recommended temperature range for charging?

The recommended ambient temperature for charging is 0 °C to 40 °C. Outside this range, charging may be delayed or impossible.

How to maintain or repair the charger?

Repairs must only be carried out by a specialist. If the power cord is damaged, have it replaced by the manufacturer or an authorized service center. Contact your Metabo representative.

2. Specified Conditions of Use

Chargers are only suitable for charging original Metabo and CAS (Cordless Alliance System) battery packs.

This device is not designed for use by persons (including children) with physical, sensory or mental disabilities, or with insufficient experience and/or knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety, or have received instructions on how to use the device by this person.

ASC 290 is suitable for charging Li-Ion battery packs (12 V - 36 V, 1.3 Ah - 10 Ah, 3-10 cells). The device is suitable for charging electronic devices with a USB-C interface (like smartphones, MP3 players, tablets, etc.) - no data exchange

ASC 145 is suitable for charging Li-Ion battery packs (12 V - 36 V, 1.3 Ah - 10 Ah, 3-10 cells).

ASC 55 is suitable for charging Li-Ion battery packs (12 V - 36 V, 1.3 Ah - 10 Ah, 3-10 cells).

ASC 55 is suitable for charging NiCd battery packs (12 V, 1.7 Ah, 10 cells).

SC 36, SC 30 is suitable for charging Li-Ion battery packs (12 V - 18 V, 1.3 Ah - 10 Ah, 3-10 cells).

Never attempt to charge batteries that are not rechargeable. Danger of explosion!

The user bears sole responsibility for any damage caused by inappropriate use.

Danger - electrical voltage!

A slightly acidic, flammable fluid may leak from defective Li-ion battery packs!

If battery fluid leaks out and comes into contact with your skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If battery fluid leaks out and comes into contact with your eyes, wash them with clean water and seek medical attention immediately! Do not recharge a fully charged battery pack!

Only for use in indoor rooms.

6. Initial Operation

Before commissioning, check that the rated mains voltage and mains frequency stated on the type plate match your power supply.

Devices like these that generate direct current can influence simple earth leakage protection devices.

Use a type F or better, with a release current of max. 30 mA.

Before commissioning the charger, ensure that the air slots are free. Minimum distance to other objects is 5 cm!

6.1 Self-test

Plug in.

The warning display (4) and the operating indicator (3) light up one after the other for approx. 1 second and the installed fan runs for approx. 5 seconds.

7. Use

7.1 Charging battery pack

Push the battery pack completely to the stop on the sliding seat (2).

The operating indicator (3) flashes.

Note: To have the charge level displayed on Li-ion battery packs, first take the battery pack out of the charger and then press the button on the battery pack.

7.2 Conservation charge

Once the charging process has finished, the battery charger automatically switches to conservation mode.

The battery pack can remain in the battery charger and is therefore always ready for use.

The operating display (3) lights up continuously.

7.3 ASC 290 only: Charge USB device

Only connect USB devices which are compatible with the USB standard. Using

incompatible devices can lead to malfunctions, damage or injuries.

Open the cover (6) and plug a USB device with a suitable cable into the USB-C port (7). The device is charged.

The USB-C port (7) is only supplied with voltage (LED indicator (8) illuminated) if no battery pack is charged.

If a battery pack and USB device are connected at the same time, the USB charging process will start automatically after the end of the battery pack charging process.

8. Faults

8.1 Warning display (4) lights up continuously

Battery pack is not charged. Excessive/insufficient temperature. When the temperature of the battery

pack is between 0 °C and 50 °C, the charging process begins automatically.

ASC 290: Warning display (4) lights up continuously and charge status indicator (5) flashes: Charger is hot, or battery pack is cold or hot, battery pack is charged with reduced charging capacity.

8.2 Warning display (4) flashes

• Battery pack is defective. Remove the battery pack immediately from the charger.
• The battery pack was not pushed correctly onto the sliding seat (2). See chapter 7.1.
• ASC 290: Warning display (4) lights up and charge status indicator (5) is off: battery pack is not charged. charger too hot.

9. Repairs

Repairs to the charger must only be carried out by qualified electricians.

If the mains connection cable of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or the Customer Service department of the manufacturer or a similarly qualified person to prevent endangering personnel and property.

10. Environmental Protection

Observe national regulations on environmentally compatible disposal and on the recycling of disused machines, packaging and accessories.
