How to assemble the Florabest 31347 barbecue?

Follow the assembly steps on pages 19-26 of the manual. Use a Phillips screwdriver and open-end wrenches of 8, 10 and 13 mm. Only tighten all screws after full assembly to avoid tension.

How to safely light the barbecue?

Place charcoal or briquettes on the charcoal grate. Add one or two solid firelighters compliant with EN 1860-3. Light them with a match, let burn for 2 to 4 minutes, then slowly add the fuel. Never use alcohol or gasoline.

What is the difference between direct and indirect cooking?

Direct cooking places food directly over the coals for quick cooking. Indirect cooking uses the charcoal baskets (7) to distribute heat and cook slowly with the lid closed, like an oven.

Can I use alcohol or gasoline to light the barbecue?

No, it's dangerous. Only use solid firelighters compliant with EN 1860-3. Alcohol or gasoline can cause deflagrations.

How to clean the barbecue after use?

Please read the assembly and operating instructions before using the high-quality Florabest barbeque.

You will quickly notice the following: The assembly and operation processes are simple and straightforward.

Intended use

The barbeque must be used for preparing suitable foods only. All requirements of this manual must be complied with.

Safe operation of the barbecue

The barbecue should be heated up for approximately 30 minutes before it is used for the first time.

General Safety Instructions

→ATTENTION! Do not use spirits or petrol to (re)ignite the fire! Use firelighters in compliance with EN 1860-3 only!

Preparing assembly:

1. Please read the assembly instructions carefully and follow the safety precautions.

4. Remove the set from the packaging!
5. Lay out all parts and any necessary tools so that they are within easy reach.

Assembly procedure

CAUTION!

For your own safety the bolt heads should always point outwards, otherwise there is a risk of injury.

In order to prevent undesired material tension only tighten all of the screw connections after completing assembly.

WARNING!

The barbecue must be positioned on a stable and secure surface when it is in use, otherwise it may tip over.

Igniting the fuel

WARNING! Risk of burning!

Using petrol or spirits for ignition can result in uncontrollable heat due to deflagration. Therefore you should only use safe fuel, such as solid firelighters. The barbecue must be placed on a stable and secure surface during operation.

1. Use quality products with DIN approval, such as DIN charcoal, DIN briquettes, and DIN solid firelighters.
2. Stack some of the charcoal or briquettes on the charcoal grid (8). For indirect barbecuing, fill the charcoal baskets (7) with fuel. During indirect barbecuing, the space between the charcoal baskets (7) should remain empty.
3. Place one to two solid firelighters on top of the layer of charcoal or briquettes. Ignite the solid firelighters using a match.
4. Allow the solid firelighters to burn for 2 to 4 minutes. Then gradually fill the fire bowl (10) with charcoal or briquettes.
5. A white layer of ash should develop on the fuel after approximately 15 to 20 minutes. This indicates that the optimum cooking temperature has been reached. Distribute the fuel evenly in the fire bowl (10) using a suitable metal tool.
6. Insert the greased cooking grill and start barbecuing.

Direct barbecuing

This is the best-known and most frequently-used method.

"Direct barbecuing" means cooking the food directly over the heat source (charcoal embers, gas burner, electric heating element, etc.). The effect of thermal radiation on the food being cooked is the strongest in this traditional method and it ensures a rapid cooking time (quick grill).

Kettle grills and hooded barbecues additionally feature a hood as well as ventilation discs in the hood and fire bowl, in your barbecue, in the ash catcher. The cooking time can be further reduced by closing the hood and opening the ventilation discs.

It should also be noted that during unprotected, direct barbecuing there is always a possibility that fat or marinade may drip from the food on the grill and into the heat source where it can burn.

When cooking very fatty or marinated foods, we recommend using an aluminium grill tray or, even better, an enamelled steel tray.

Indirect barbecuing

To prepare the fire bowl for indirect barbecuing, the charcoal baskets (7) should be placed on the charcoal grid in the fire bowl. As a result the fire bowl is divided into three zones: zones 1 and 3 are the intermediate spaces between the charcoal baskets (7) and the side panel of the fire bowl.

Zone 2 is the space between the charcoal baskets (7). This space should remain clear. If necessary, a drip bowl or plate could be placed here to catch the dripping fat. Zones 1 and 3 are filled with fuel and ignited in accordance with the lighting instructions. As soon as the optimum heat has been reached you can start using the indirect barbecuing method.

The grill above the embers is usually constructed in such a way that there is enough space above Zones 1 and 3 for direct barbecuing, thereby allowing both variations to be used simultaneously. A hood is always necessary for the slow and gentle indirect barbecuing method. This is used to cover the fire bowl and thus create an enclosed cooking space.

The air vent on the ash catcher of the fire bowl and at the top of the hood must be opened when using the indirect barbecuing method to allow a supply of oxygen. Doing this makes the cooking area function like a fan oven. The cooking time required for indirect barbecuing is naturally much longer than the time for direct barbecuing. However, the hood does not need to be opened frequently to turn the food, as the food is heated from all directions.

Cleaning / care

WARNING! Risk of burning!

Allow the barbecue to cool down completely before cleaning it. Never use water to quench the hot barbecue. This could result in burns or scalding.

Occasional cleaning is necessary in order to preserve an attractive appearance. Do not use any scouring agents.

1. A rinsing cloth, water and some washing-up liquid is sufficient for normal cleaning processes.
2. If the enamelled parts are heavily soiled, use a commercial enamel cleaning agent (oven cleaner). Observe the manufacturer's instructions for the cleaning agent being applied.
3. Clean the barbecue using household detergent and a rust proof cleaning pad.

Environmental information & waste disposal measures

Pay attention to cleanliness when using the barbecue and dispose of waste in a clean and safe manner. As a general rule, only dispose of waste in designated metal or non-flammable containers.

If a material or manufacturing defect appears with this product within three years after the date of purchase, the product will be repaired free of charge or replaced by us - at our choice. This guarantee assumes that the defect product and the receipt are submitted and that the fault and when it appeared are briefly described in writing within the three year term.

If the fault is covered by our guarantee, you will get back either the repaired product or a new product. A new guarantee period does not begin after having the product repaired or exchanged.

Length of guarantee and legal claims for defects

Any services provided under guarantee do not extend the original guarantee period. This also applies to replaced and repaired parts. Any damage or defects which are apparent upon purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking. All repairs are chargeable after the guarantee terms has ended.

Scope of guarantee

The product was carefully produced in line with strict quality guidelines and was scrupulously checked before being delivered.

The guarantee applies for material or manufacturing defects. This guarantee does not extend to product parts that are exposed to normal wear and tear and are thus seen as wearing parts or for damage to fragile parts, e.g., switches, batteries, or those made of glass.

This guarantee is obsolete if the product was damaged or improperly used or maintained. All the instructions described in the operating manual must be adhered to for proper use of the product. Intended uses or actions which are advised or warned against in the operating manual must be avoided at all costs.

The product is only intended for private use and not for commercial use. Improper handling, use of force or interferences that are not authorised by our service branch defunct the guarantee.
