IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical appliance. Basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following:
- Check that the mains voltage corresponds with the rating of the appliance before operating.
- Do not touch hot surfaces - Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cords, plugs or appliances in water or any other liquid.
- Do not leave any appliance unattended while it is operating.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use or before cleaning.
- Allow to cool before putting on or taking off any parts.
- Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance has been damaged in any manner.
- Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter or let it come into contact with any hot surfaces.
- To disconnect - remove the plug from the outlet.
- Do not pull plug out by the cord.
- Bread carriage lever must be in the 'UP' position before attaching or disconnecting the plug from wall outlet.
- If the supply cord or appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
- Do not use this product for anything other than intended use.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
- Do not use outdoors.
- This product is intended for household use only.
- No liability can be accepted for any damage caused by noncompliance with these instructions or any other improper use or mishandling.
- Use the toaster without bread for the first time. There will be some smoke at first, this is normal.
- The toaster reaches very high temperatures, particularly in the area of the openings for the bread.
- Bread may burn. Therefore this toaster must not be used near or below curtains and other combustible materials.
- Do not place the cable or any other object over the bread openings whilst the toaster is in operation.
- Do not attempt to dislodge food while the toaster is in operation.
- Do not insert metal objects or other utensils into the toaster, as this will cause an electric shock or cause a fire.
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.
- The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
FEATURES OF YOUR TOASTER

- Extra wide and deep bread slots
Enables you to toast a large variety of breads - regardless of thickness.
- Self-centring bread slots
Whether you are toasting thick or thin slices, your bread will always be held in the centre of the slot to ensure even toasting.
- Cable storage
The cord can be wrapped underneath for safe and convenient storage.
- Electronic browning control
Variable toast settings from 1 - 6 allow you to toast your bread to the desired colour every time. The toast setting can be selected by pressing the up or down button.
- Reheat button
The Reheat button can be selected after the toasting cycle has finished. It reheats the toast for 30 seconds.
- Crumpet setting
The specially designed crumpet feature emits extra heat from the centre elements, to cook the top of your crumpet perfectly without burning the bottom.
- Frozen setting
The frozen setting ensures bread can be toasted straight from the freezer.
- Quick Check feature
The progress of the toast can be checked at any time by lifting up the toast lever. This can be done without interrupting the toasting cycle.
- High-lift and toasting lever
Raises the toast above the starting position so you can remove the toast from the toaster without burning your fingers. Ideal for crumpets and muffins.
- Removable crumb tray
Pulls out from underneath your toaster for easy removal of crumbs.
- Cancel
The Cancel button immediately interrupts any toasting cycle and pops the toast up.
USING YOUR TOASTER
Toasting Bread
- Place the bread in the center of the bread holder.
- Select the desired toasting time by using the electronic toasting control. Set the time by pressing the up and down buttons on the left hand side of the LED display.
Note: If toasting 1 slice (in the TOD-900S) or 2 slices (in the TODL-1700S) it is recommended that you use a lower toasting time setting to achieve best result and to prevent overcooking of the toasted bread.
Important: Do not toast stale bread, rice crackers or similar for a long time as there is a chance that they may catch fire. - Start the toaster. Push the toasting lever down to start toasting the bread.
- The LCD display will show how long the toasting cycle will take and then the reaming time of the selected toasting program.
- When the selected toasting program has finished, the toaster will beep once and automatically stop toasting and pop the toast up.
- If you need to remove the bread before the toaster has finished, press the cancel button on located next to the toasting lever. The cancel button will immediately interrupt the toasting cycle and eject the toasted bread.
- The Quick Check feature enables you to easily inspect the progress of your toasted bread without interrupting the toasting program. Lift the toasting lever to view the bread and then release it when you have finished. If the toasted bread is ready press the cancel button.
- To remove smaller slices of bread, crumpets or bagels, use the high-lift lever to lift the toast above the starting position. This will prevent you from burning your fingers as you remove the toasted bread.
TOASTER FUNCTIONS
Cancel button
The cancel button immediately stops the selected toasting program and the bread will be ejected. Pressing the cancel button also resets the electronic time setting back to default level 2.
High-lift lever
When toasting small pieces of bread, crumpets or muffins we recommend using the High-lift lever to prevent you from burning your fingers
Quick check
The Quick check feature enables you to check on the progress of your toast without interrupting the selected toasting program. Lift the toasting lever to view the toast and then release it when you have finished. If the toast is ready press the cancel button to stop toasting the bread.
Crumpet Feature
The specialized crumpet setting cooks crumpets to perfection. When activated, additional heat is emitted from the center elements to cook the top of your crumpet faster than the bottom. The top of the crumpet(s) must be facing towards the center element. See figure 1.
This feature can be activated by pressing the crumpet button on at any time, preferably before or at the start the toasting cycle.
Defrost Feature
The defrost feature can be used to toast bread that are taken straight from the freezer. The color of your toasted bread will correspond to the toasting time you have chosen in the settings. To activate this feature press the frozen button at any time preferable before or at the start of the toasting cycle.
Note: When using the crumpet and frozen functions it is important to set the electronic time setting to your desired level.
Reheat button
The Reheat button can be selected after the toasting cycle has finished. Simply select the reheat button and press the toasting lever down to start the reheat cycle. If the reheat button is selected in the first 30 seconds of the toasting cycle it will override the toasting cycle. If the toasting cycle has been running for over 30 seconds the reheat button will cancel the toasting cycle after 5 seconds.
Standby Mode
If the toaster isn't used for over 5 mins it will go into standby mode. It can be reactivated by pressing any button.
TOASTING TIPS
- If your bread jams in the toaster, switch power off, remove the plug from the power outlet and pick the bread out of the toaster.
- Ensure muffins or bagels are cut into even halves and fit freely into the bread holder. Do not force them into the toaster.
- When toasting only one piece in your TODL-1700S slice toaster make sure the bread is positioned in the middle of one of the bread holders. If toasting 2 pieces of bread in the 4 slice toaster, position one piece in the center of each bread holder.
- If toasting 1 slice (in the TOD-900S) or 2 slices (in the TODL-1700S) it is recommended that you decrease the time setting to achieve best result and prevent bread from over cooking.
WARNING: Never attempt to extract jammed toast, muffins, bagels or crumpets with a knife or any other metal object, as contact with the heating element may cause an electric shock.
CARE AND CLEANING
Always turn the power OFF and remove the plug from the power outlet after use and before cleaning your toaster.
To clean the exterior
Wipe exterior with a slightly dampened cloth and polish with a soft dry cloth. Do not use metal scourers or abrasives as this may scratch the exterior surface.
Removable Crumb Tray
To remove the crumbs, press the tray and it will slide out, empty and replace it in the toaster.
Important: Clean the crumb tray regularly. Do not allow crumbs to accumulate, as they may cause a potential fire hazard.
To clean the toaster interior
Clean inside the toaster regularly. To do this, unplug the appliance, turn it upside down over the sink and gently shake all the crumbs out.

Under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE), such waste must be collected separately and processed. If in future you need to discard this product, please do not throw it out with your normal rubbish. Please send this product to a collection point where one is available.
