- Toasted food can catch fire, so:
- never leave the toaster unsupervised
- keep the toaster away from items (e.g. curtains) that could catch fire
- set the toasting control lower for thin or dry bread
- never heat food with toppings or fillings (e.g. pizza), if these drip into the toaster it could cause a fire
- To avoid electric shocks, never:
- let the toaster, cord or plug get wet, or
- insert your hand or metallic objects, e.g. knives or foil, into the toaster
- Always unplug the toaster when it's not in use, prior to cleaning or prior to trying to remove bread that has become stuck.
- Never cover the toaster with a plate or anything else – it may overheat and catch fire. For the same reason never cover the bun warmer.
- Never let the cord hang down such that a child could reach it – store surplus cord using the cord holder on the toaster.
- This toaster is not intended for use by small children or minors without supervision.
- Never touch hot surfaces, especially metal the surfaces on the top of the toaster.
- Never use unauthorised accessories.
- Never use a damaged toaster. Have it checked or repaired: see "Service".
- This toaster is intended for indoor, domestic use only.
- Small children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
PRIOR TO PLUGGING IN
- Ensure that your electricity supply is the same as that shown on the underside of the toaster.
- If the power cord is damaged it must be replaced by the factory, its service agent or another qualified personnel to avoid hazards.
BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
- Remove all packaging and all labels.
- Run the toaster once on setting 3 without bread. (The lever will not stay down if the toaster is not plugged in.)
- As with all new heating elements, your toaster will give off a slight burning smell when it is turned on for the first time. This is normal and is not a cause for concern.

MODEL: TO-3

USING THE TOASTER
- Set the toasting control. (Use a low setting for thin or dry bread.)
- Insert the bread, muffins, bagels, etc.
-
Lower the lever until it locks. (The lever will not stay down if the toaster is not plugged in.)
-
To toast frozen bread, press the defrost function button – its lamp will light.
- To reheat bread that is already toasted, but has become cold, press the reheating button – its lamp will light.
- To interrupt the toasting – press the interrupt button.
Never raise the lever to interrupt the toasting.
- Finished toast will pop up automatically - to lift it higher raise the lever.
TOASTING TIPS
- Select a lower setting for light toasting, to toast just one slice or for dry bread.
- When toasting a single slice you will notice that the two sides are slightly different colours colour – this is normal.
- Dry/old bread toasts faster than fresh bread and thin slices toast faster than thick ones. Therefore, in these cases you should set the toasting control to a lower value than normal.
- For the best results, ensure that the slices are of the same thickness, equally fresh and the same size.
- For consistent toasting results, we recommend you wait a minimum of 30 seconds between each toasting so that the control can automatically reset.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
- Unplug the toaster and allow it to cool before cleaning.
- Remove the crumb tray. Clean it and replace it. Do this regularly: crumbs can cause smoke or even catch fire.
- Wash the outside of the toaster with a damp cloth and then dry.
