1.2 Installation

1.2.1 Electrical shock hazard

• Disconnect the appliance from the mains electricity supply before carrying out any work or maintenance on it.
• Connection to a good earth wiring system is essential and mandatory
  • Alterations to the domestic wiring system must only be made by a qualified electrician.
• Failure to follow this advice may result in electrical shock or death.

- Failure to use caution could result in injury or cuts.

1.2.3 Important safety instructions

• Read these instructions carefully before installing or using this appliance.
• No combustible material or products should be placed on this appliance at any time.

- In order to avoid a hazard, this appliance must be installed according to these instructions for installation.

1.3.5 Important safety instructions

• Never leave the appliance unattended when in use. Boilover causes smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite.

Energy saving

You can save energy during everyday cooking if you follow below hints.

• When you heat up water, use only the amount you need.
• If it is possible, always put the lids on the cookware.
• Before you activate the cooking zone put the cookware on it.
• Put the smaller cookware on the smaller cooking zones.
• Put the cookware directly in the centre of the cooking zone.
• Use the residual heat to keep the food warm or to melt it.

3. Operating the appliance

3.1 Touch controls

• The controls respond to touch, so you don't need to apply any pressure.
• Use the ball of your finger, not the finger tip.
• You will hear a beep each time a touch is registered.
• Make sure the controls are always clean, dry, and that there are no objects (e.g. a utensil or a cloth) covering them. Even a thin film of water may make the controls difficult to operate.

3.2 Choosing the right cookware

Do not use cookware with jagged edges or a curved base.

Make sure that the base of your pan is smooth, sits flat against the glass, and is the same size as the cooking zone. Always centre your pan on the cooking zone.

Always lift pans off the ceramic hob - do not slide them, or they may scratch the glass.

3.3 How to use

3.3.1 Start cooking

After power on, the buzzer beeps once, all the indicators light up for 1 second then go out, indicating that the ceramic hob has entered standby mode. Touch the ON/OFF control. All the indicators show "-"

Place a suitable pan on the coo-king zone that you wish to use.

• Make sure the bottom of the pan and the surface of the cooking zone are clean and dry.

Select a heat setting by touching the "-" or "+" control.

- If you don't choose a heat setting within 1 minute, the ceramic hob will automatically switch off. You will need to start again at step 1.

- You can adjust the heat setting at any time during cooking.

- By holding down either of these buttons you can adjust the value up or down.

3.3.2 Finish cooking

Touch to select the heating zone that you wish to switch off.

Turn the cooking zone off by scrolling down to "0" or touching the "-" and "+" controls at the same time.

Turn the whole hob off by touching the ON/OFF control.

Beware of hot surfaces.

"H" will show which cooking zone is hot to touch. It will disappear when the surface has cooled down to a safe temperature. This can also be used as an energy-saving function – if you want to heat further pans, use the heating zone that is still hot.

3.3.3 Locking the controls

You can lock the controls to prevent unintended use (such as children accidentally turning the cooking zones on).

When the controls are locked, all the controls except the ON/OFF control are disabled.

To unlock the controls

Make sure the ceramic hob is turned on Touch and hold the lock control for a while.

When the hob is in lock mode, all the controls are disabled except ON/OFF ①. You can always turn off the ceramic hob off with the ON/OFF ① control in an emergency, but you must unlock the hob first before you can use it again.

3.3.4 Timer control

You can use the timer in two different ways:

a) You can use it as a minute minder. In this case, the timer will not turn any cooking zone off when the set time is up.

b) You can set it to turn one or more cooking zones off after the set time is up.

• The maximum timer duration is 99 minutes

a) Using the timer as a minute minder if you do not select any cooking zone

Make sure the hob is turned on and atleast one cooking zone is operating.

Note: you can use the minute minder even if you have not selected any cooking zone.

Touch the timer control, the timer indicator will flash;

Adjust the timer setting by touching the "-" or "+" controls.

The minute minder indicator will start flashing and will show in the timer display.

If you touch "-" and "+" at the same time it will cancel the timer, and "-" will appear in the minute display

When the time is set, it will begin to count down immediately.

The display will show the remaining time and the timer indicator will flash for 5 seconds

The buzzer will beep for 30 seconds and the timer indicator will show "-" when the set time has run out.

Hint:

a) Touch the "-" or "+" symbols once to decrease or increase the time by 1 minute.

b) Touch and hold the "-"or"+" symbols to decrease or increase the time by 10 minutes.

c) If the setting time exceeds 99 minutes, the timer will automatically return to 0 minutes.

b) Setting the timer to turn one or more cooking zones off

Set the time by touching the "-" or "+" control of the timer

Touching the "-" and "+" together, the timer is cancelled, and the will show "-" in the minute display.

When the time is set, it will begin to count down immediately. The display will show the remaining time and the timer indicator flash for 5 seconds

When cooking timer expires, the corresponding coo-king zone will be switched off automatically. The display will show "H" which means hot;

Note:

a) The red dot next to power level indicator will illuminate indicating that zone is selected.

b) If you want to change the time after the timer is set, you have to start from step 1.

c) The method for setting two zones is the same as mentioned above.

Setting the timer to turn more than one cooking zones off

a). If more than one heating zones use this function, the timer indicator will show the shortest time. (e.g. zone 1# setting time of 5 minutes, zone 2# setting time of 15 minutes, the timer indicator shows "5".)

NOTE: The red dot next to the power level indicator will flash.

b). When the countdown timer expires, the corresponding zone will switch off. Then it will show the new shortest time setting and the dot for the corresponding zone will flash.

c). When the cooking timer expires, the corresponding cooking zone will be switched off automatically.

Note:

1) The red dot next to the power level indicator will light up indicating that this zone is selected.

2) If you want to change the time after the timer has been set, you have to start again from step 1.

3.3.5 Over-temperature protection

A temperature sensor permits monitoring of the temperature inside the ceramic hob. If the temperature is detected to be too high, the ceramic hob will switch off automatically.

3.3.6 Residual heat warning

When the hob has been operating for some time it will remain hot for some time. The letter "H" appears to warn you not to touch it.

3.3.7 Default working times

Another safety feature of the hob is automatic shut-down. This occurs whenever you forget to switch off a cooking zone. The default shut-down times are shown in the table below:

4. Cooking guidelines

Take care when frying, as oil and fat heat up very quickly, particularly if you're using PowerBoost. At extremely high temperatures oil and fat will ignite spontaneously and this presents a serious fire risk.

4.1 Cooking tips

• When food comes to the boil, reduce the temperature setting.
• Using a lid will reduce cooking times and save energy by retaining the heat.
• Minimize the amount of liquid or fat to reduce cooking times.
• Start cooking on a high setting and reduce the setting when the food has heated through.

4.1.1 Simmering, cooking rice

• Simmering occurs below boiling point, at around 85°C, when bubbles are just rising occasionally to the surface of the cooking liquid. It is the key to delicious soups and tender stews because the flavours develop without over-cooking the food. You should also cook egg-based and flour-thickened sauces below boiling point.
• Some tasks, including cooking rice by the absorption method, may require a setting higher than the lowest setting to ensure the food is cooked properly in the time recommended.

4.1.2 Searing steak

To cook juicy flavoursome steaks:

1. Stand the meat at room temperature for about 20 minutes before cooking.

2. Heat up a heavy-based frying pan.

3. Brush both sides of the steak with oil. Drizzle a small amount of oil into the hot pan and then lower the meat onto the hot pan.
4. Turn the steak only once during cooking. The exact cooking time will depend on the thickness of the steak and how well cooked you want it. Times may vary from about 2 - 8 minutes per side. Press the steak to gauge how well cooked it is - the firmer it feels the more "well-done" it will be.
5. Leave the steak to rest on a warm plate for a few minutes to allow it to relax and become tender before serving.

4.1.3 For stir-frying

1. Choose a ceramic-compatible flat-based wok or a large frying pan.
2. Have all the ingredients and equipment ready. Stir-frying should be quick. If cooking large quantities, cook the food in several smaller batches.
3. Preheat the pan briefly and add two tablespoons of oil.
4. Cook any meat first, put it aside and keep warm.
5. Stir-fry the vegetables. When they are hot but still crisp, turn the cooking zone to a lower setting, return the meat to the pan and add your sauce.
6. Stir the ingredients gently to make sure they are heated through.

The settings below are guidelines only. The exact setting will depend on several factors, including your cookware and the amount you are cooking. Experiment with the ceramic hob to find the settings that best suit you.

Take extreme care.·Heavy-duty scourers, some nylon scourers and harsh/abrasive cleaning agents may scratch the glass. Always read the label to check if your cleaner or scourer is suitable.·Never leave cleaning residue on the hob: the glass may become stained.
Boilovers, melts, and hot sugary spills on the glass	Remove these immediately with a fish slice, palette knife or razor blade scraper suitable for ceramic glass hobs, but beware of hot cooking zone surfaces:1. Switch the power to the hob off at the wall.2. Hold the blade or utensil at a 30° angle and scrape the food remains or spill to a cool area of the hob.3. Clean the soiling or spill up with a dish cloth or paper towel.4. Follow steps 2 to 4 for 'Everyday soiling on glass' above.	·Remove stains left by melted and sugary food or spillovers as soon as possible. If left to cool on the glass, they may be difficult to remove or even permanently damage the glass surface.·Cut hazard: when the safety cover is retracted, the blade in a scraper is razor-sharp. Use with extreme care and always store safely and out of reach of chil-dren.
Spillovers on the touch controls	1. Switch the power to the hob off.2. Mop up the spill.3. Wipe the touch control area with a clean damp sponge or cloth.4. Wipe the area completely dry with a paper towel.5. Switch the power to the hob back on.	·The hob may beep and turn itself off, and the touch controls may not function while there is liquid on them. Make sure you wipe the touch control area dry before turning the hob back on.

7. Hints and tips

8. Installation

The induction hob is equipped with a self-diagnostic function. This test feature allows a technician to check the function of several components without disassembling or removing the hob from the work surface.

8.1 Selection of installation equipment

1. Cut a hole in the work surface that matches the dimensions shown in the drawing.

For the purpose of installation and use there should be a minimum of 50 mm clear space around the perimeter of the hole. Make sure the work surface is at least 30 mm thick. Please select a heat-resistant and insulated work surface material (wood and similar fibrous or hygroscopic materials must be avoided unless they are impregnated) to avoid electrical shock and excessive deformation due to heat from the hob. As shown below:

Note: The safe distance between the sides of the hob and the inner surfaces of the worktops should be at least 3 mm.

1. The ceramic hob may be installed on top of a cabinet. The ceramic hob should be installed horizontally. As shown below:

Make sure the ceramic cooker hob is well ventilated and the air inlet and outlet are not blocked. Ensure the ceramic cooker hob is in good working condition. As shown below

WARNING:

Ensuring adequate ventilation

Make sure the ceramic hob is well ventilated and that the air inlet and outlet are not blocked. To avoid accidental contact with the hot underside of the hob, or an unexpected electric shock during operation, a wooden cover must be fixed with screws at a minimum distance of 50 mm from the underside of the hob. Follow the requirements below.

There are ventilation holes around outside of the hob. YOU MUST ensure these holes are not blocked by the worktop when you put the hob into position.

• Be aware that the any glue that is used to join plastic or wooden material to the cabinet must be able to resist temperatures of at least 150°C, to avoid failure of glued joints.
• The rear wall, adjacent and surrounding surfaces must therefore be able to withstand a temperature of 90°C.

8.2 Before locating the fixing brackets

• The unit should be placed on a stable, smooth surface (use the packaging). Do not apply force to the controls protruding from the hob.
• Fix the hob on the work surface by screwing four brackets to the underside of the hob (see illustration) after installation.
• Adjust the bracket position to suit the thickness of the work surface.

The brackets must not touch the inner surfaces of the worktop.

8.3 Caution

1. The ceramic cooker hob must be installed by qualified personnel or technicians. We have professionals at your service. Please never attempt installation by yourself.
2. The ceramic cooker hob must not be installed above cooling equipment, a dishwasher or tumble dryer.
3. The ceramic cooker hob must be installed in a way that ensures effective radiation of heat to enhance its reliability.
4. The wall and induced heating zone above the work surface must be able to withstand heat.
5. To avoid any damage, the sandwich layer and adhesive must be resistant to heat.
6. Do not use a steam cleaner near the hob.
7. This ceramic hob must only be connected to a supply with a system impedance of 0.427 ohm or lower. If necessary, please consult your supply authority to obtain system impedance information.

8.4 Connecting the hob to the mains power supply

The hob should be connected to the mains supply in compliance with the relevant standard, or via a single-pole circuit breaker. The method of connection is shown below.

1. If the cable is damaged or needs to be replaced, this should be done by an after-sales technician using the proper tools, to avoid any accidents.

1. If the appliance is connected directly to the mains supply, an omnipolar circuit breaker must be installed with a minimum gap of 3 mm between the contacts.
2. The installer must ensure that the correct electrical connections have been made and that they comply with safety regulations.
3. The power cable must not be bent or compressed.
4. The power cable must be checked regularly and only replaced by a properly qualified person.

The underside of the hob and the power cord are not accessible after installation.

DISPOSAL: Do not dispose of this product as unsorted municipal waste. Such waste must be collected separately and taken for special treatment.
