ON/OFF switch
To use the appliance, you must first turn the on/off switch to the on position (Pos. I). You can then select automatic programs, use the pulse function or the speed controller.
Speed controller
You can use the speed controller to infinitely adjust the speed of the high performance motor between min and max. For this, switch the appliance on using the on/off button (Pos. I) and select the desired speed with the speed regulator. When you have finished blending, turn the speed controller back to the initial position (see image) and then switch the on/off button off again (Pos. O).
Pulse function
The motor runs at maximum speed as long as the PULSE button is held down. This is particularly useful for a final mix before pouring.
Preset program buttons
In order to carry out common tasks with the Smoothie Blender, the appliance has three automatic programs for smoothies, sauces and frozen foods.
Smoothie
The Smoothie button can be used for preparing smoothies easily. Switch on the appliance using the On/Off button (Pos. I). Now press the Smoothie button, the blender will run a program with different speeds. The program will stop automatically after approximately 26 seconds. You can stop the program at any time by pressing the Smoothie button again or moving the on/off switch to off (Pos. O).
Ice cream
You can use the Ice cream button for crushing frozen foods. This is suitable when preparing ice cream, sorbets and frozen smoothies. Switch on the appliance using the On/Off button (Pos. I). Press the Ice cream button, the blender will start an automatic program with different speeds.
The program ends automatically after approximately 26 seconds. You can stop the program at any time by pressing the Ice cream button again or moving the on/off switch to off (Pos. O).
Sauce
The Sauce button can be used for preparing sauces easily. Switch on the appliance using the On/Off button (Pos. I). Press the Sauce button, the blender will start an automatic program with different speeds.
The program stops automatically after approximately 26 seconds. You can stop the program at any time by pressing the Sauce button again or moving the on/off switch to off (Pos. O).
Jug
The jug is made of high quality Tritan® and is sturdy, light and BPA-free.
The capacity of the jug is 2 liters. Make sure not to overfill it.
In the case of foods which produce lots of foam (e.g. milk) or are hot, we recommend a maximum volume of 1.5 liters.
The closing cap in the lid can be removed by turning it anti-clockwise and used as a measure (10 / 20 / 30 ml).
Tamper
You can use the tamper to scrape any food stuck to the edges of the jug back towards the blade unit. For this, remove the cap from the closed lid and place the tamper in the opening.
The safety ring on the tamper prevents it coming into contact with the blade unit when the lid is closed correctly.
Move the tamper long the walls and corners of the jug so the food can be blended more.
Safety function
The mixer will only switch on if the jug is fitted correctly. A safety switch prevents the device from operating without the jug.
If the jug is removed when the appliance is operating in manual speed mode, the on switch must be on button must be switch off and on before continuing operating the blender. In order to prevent the blender from being used unintentionally.
How to use the Tamper
Important:
- The splash disk (near the top of the tamper) and lid prevent the tamper from hitting the blades when the lid is secured properly in the locked position.
- The container should not be more than two-thirds full when the tamper is used during blending.
- To avoid overheating do not operate for more than 30 consecutive seconds.
- If the food does not circulate, the machine may have encountered an air bubble. Carefully remove the lid plug while the machine operates and use the tamper to firmly mix the content.
- Holding the tamper straight down may not help the ingredients circulate. If necessary, point the tamper toward the sides or corners of the container DO NOT try to force the tamper deeper into the container.
Warning:
Rotating Blades Can Cause Severe Injury.
- DO NOT put hands, spatulas, etc in the container while the machine is running or while the container is still on the base.
- Lids and tampers are not interchangeable between different container styles, types, and sizes. Use the tamper provided tamper only.
Hints for setting speeds
Set the on/off switch bottom in the lower position use the variable speed control to regulate the speed from its min position. Slowly increase the speed control to by turning it to desired speed. If a recipe calls for processing on high speed, slowly rotate the Variable Speed Dial to MAX. Do not begin processing on Variable 10 or directly on the MAX setting.
Process on the MAX setting for as much of the processing time as possible to make whole food juicer, soups, shakes, frozen mixtures, purees, nut butters and for grinding grains. Processing times will generally be less than one minute (most take less than 30 seconds). MAX speed provides the best quality of refinement, breaking down ice, frozen fruit, whole fruits or vegetables, and grains to a smooth lump-free consistency.
TIP: Blending too long at too low a speed setting will overheat the machine and cause the Automatic Overload Protection to turn the machine off. Use the MAX speed as often as possible to achieve the most uniform consistency. Blending on MAX speed also maximizes the motor's cooling fan to avoid overheating.
When on the MAX, if the food does not circulate, the machine may be overloaded or may have encountered an air bubble. Carefully remove the lid plug while making sure the lid stays firmly in place. Release the air bubble by inserting the tamper through the lid plug opening. If circulation problems continue, reduce the machine speed. A lower speed may allow food to circulate better than operating at maximum speed. Once the food is circulating freely, increase the speed back to MAX and continue processing.
Caution:
Never start on speeds above MIN with hot liquids to avoid possible burns.
Rising steam, splashes or contents may scald.
To secure the contents, lock the lid and lid plug securely in place prior to operating the machine.
Always start on OFF, slowly increase to MAX.
Operating instructions
Designed for processing liquids including juice, frozen mixtures, sauces, soups, purees, batters, and for wet chopping.
- Make sure that the variable speed control is set to OFF position.
- Load the container before placing in on the motor base. Place liquids and soft foods in the container first, solid items and ice last. Although not necessary for blending, you may want to cut or break food into smaller pieces for more precise measuring of ingredients.
- Attach the lid properly. Always use the complete lid when blending (unless the tamper is inserted through the lid plug opening). Especially when blending hot ingredients, make sure the lid is securely latched.
- With the motor is off, set the wet blade container on the motor base by aligning it over the centering pad.
Do not attempt to put a container on an operating motor base or to operate a motor base without a container properly in place. - Activate the machine by turning the ON/OFF (Pos. O/I) Switch to ON (Pos. I), always start your machine on OFF position and then slowly increase to the desired speed.
- Be extremely careful when handling and processing hot ingredients and making hot soups and sauces.
- Due to the machine's speed, processing times are much quicker than standard appliances. Until you are familiar with the machine, count your time carefully to avoid over processing.
- After turning the machine off, wait until the blades completely stop before removing the lid or container from the motor base.
