How do I start a wash cycle on the UPO WD5470?

Load the laundry, add detergent, close the door, select the program with the programmer knob (P), adjust spin speed with button (H), select optional functions with buttons (C), set delayed start with button (I) if needed, then press start button (L). The cycle will begin and the door locks automatically.

What is the Easy Logic technology?

The Easy Logic system automatically detects the load size and adjusts water usage and wash time. For cotton programs, it reduces water by 2 liters per kg less than maximum load, and for half-load or less, it skips one rinse. This saves water, time, and energy.

How do I change the spin speed?

Press the spin selection button (H) repeatedly to cycle through available speeds. The corresponding LED lights up. To skip the spin, select the no-spin symbol. The maximum speed allowed for the selected program is automatically shown.

Can I add laundry after the cycle has started?

Yes, but only within the first 3 minutes. Turn the programmer knob (P) to STOP, wait 2 minutes for the door to unlock, add laundry, reselect the program, and press start (L). Use this only when necessary.

What does the Delayed Start function do?

The Delayed Start function lets you delay the start of a cycle by 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours. Press button (I) to set the delay, then press start (L). The machine will begin the cycle after the selected delay.

What are the optional functions and how do I use them?

The optional functions include Pre-Wash (short wash at 40°C), Intensive Wash (longer wash time), Extra Rinse (adds 3 rinses), and Anti-Crease (30-minute tumble after cycle to reduce wrinkles). What should I do if the laundry is unbalanced?

The machine has an out-of-balance protection system. Before spin, it tries to redistribute the load evenly. If the load is too unbalanced, the spin speed is reduced or the spin cycle is skipped. To prevent this, avoid overloading and ensure the laundry is evenly distributed in the drum.

How do I clean the detergent drawer?

You can remove the detergent drawer by pulling it out fully. Wash it with warm water and a soft brush. Do not open the drawer during a cycle as water may spill. Ensure it is dry before reinserting.

What if the door does not open after a cycle?

After the spin phase, the door remains locked for about 2 minutes until the END LED lights up. If it still does not open, turn the programmer knob (P) to STOP and wait a few minutes. If the problem persists, check if there is water inside or contact support.

Which program should I use for heavily soiled white cotton?

Use the Cotton 90°C program. It is designed for heavily soiled white cotton fabrics with organic stains. You can enable the Intensive Wash function for deeper cleaning. Add detergent to both pre-wash and main wash compartments if using pre-wash.

USE OF THE WASHING MACHINE

"EASY LOGIC" TECHNOLOGY

The electronic washing machine is fitted with an “EASY LOGIC” system that automatically recognises the quantity of washing loaded. The machine can thus regulate the amount of water to use for the wash and proportion the wash time accordingly, thus saving water, time and energy. In the case where the amount of washing is less than the maximum recommended load (see technical characteristics table), the quantity of water used for the wash will be reduced by 2 litres for each kg less of washing.

In the case of a half-load or less, the machine will automatically carry out one rinse less than programmed.

N.B. The "EASY LOGIC" function is only active for cotton programmes.

WASHING CYCLE:

(follow these instructions and the washing machine will run the selected wash cycle)

1. Open the door
2. Load the washing in the drum and close the door.
   Warning: Do not overload the machine. It is not advisable to wash items that absorb large quantities of water such as carpets.
3. Add a low-suds detergent and softener designed for automatic washing machines in the respective compartments of the detergent drawer (see chapter "USE OF DETERGENTS").
4. Close the detergent drawer. Do not open the drawer while the machine is working as this may cause water to spill out.
5. Rotate the programmer knob (P) to select the required programme and temperature according to the type of fabric to wash (see: "PROGRAMME TABLES")

N.B.: When selecting a program, the led of maximum spin speed allowed by the program selected will automatically light up. One of the leds (S) will light up to indicate the starting wash cycle.

1. Select the required spin speed by pressing button (H) (see "VARIABLE SPIN").

2. Select the (C) buttons with the functions required (see "OPTIONAL FUNCTIONS").

3. Press button (I) if required (see "DELAYED START").

4. Press button (L) to start the wash cycle (see "START BUTTON").

5. At the end of the wash cycle, turn the program selector knob (P) on "STOP".

6. Open the door and remove the washing.

7. With dry hands, unplug the washing machine from the mains supply.

8. Close the water feed valve.

VARIABLE SPIN:

The machine offers a wide selection of spin speeds that can be selected beforehand according to the wash programme. To change the spin speed, simply press button (H) to select the required speed. The corresponding speed led will light-up each time the button is pressed. To exclude the spin, select the led corresponding to symbol present, or the writing "no-spin".

NB. the maximum spin speed will vary according to the model and is indicated by the Leds on the machine. The maximum spin speed that can be selected for each programme is indicated by the leds that light-up automatically when the wash programme is selected.

Out of balance spin protection for the load:

This washing machine is equipped with a special electronic control system for the correct balancing of the load. Before each spin, the system makes the clothes arrange themselves in the drum in the most even way possible. In case of irregular distribution of the laundry, for safety reasons the spin speed is reduced and in cases of the load being greatly out of balance, the spin cycle will not be effected.

DELAYED START:

The machine is fitted with a delayed start function. This allows the washing machine to be programmed to start the wash cycle up to 8 hours later. The delay in hours can be selected as follows: press the button to set a delay of 1, 2, 4, 8 hours. When the START button (L) is pressed, the selected led will flash or button (I) will light up (according to the model), signalling that the function has been activated. The machine will wait for the number of hours set to elapse and then start the wash cycle automatically.

START BUTTON:

After having carried out all the operations described in points 1 to 8 in the paragraph "WASHING CYCLE" press this button and the washing machine will begin its washing cycle. The relative LED will light up after 2-3 seconds, to indicate that the door is locked and the program has started.

PROGRAMMER KNOB "STOP":

The function of stop is to reset the washing machine. If for any reason during the washing cycle you decide to vary it, or decide later to add more laundry, all you have to do is turn the knob of the program selector to the "STOP" position, then reset the knob to the new program chosen and press the "START" button.

Warning!! It is recommended to use this function only if strictly necessary and solely if the program to be reset has started not more than 3 minutes previously. Before being able to open the door after a reset, you must wait 2 minutes for it to be unlocked.

OPTIONAL FUNCTIONS

If one of the following buttons is selected, the corresponding LED will switch on. But if it has been selected by mistake or you have changed your mind, simply press it again to cancel the selection.

PRE-WASH:

When this button is pressed, a short pre-wash with a maximum temperature of 40^ C lasting for about 10 minutes is provided. This function can only be used on the “COTTON, SYNTHETICS and DAILY” programs.

N.B. When using this function, remember to put some detergent in the pre-wash compartment too.

Press the button and the machine will carry out a wash cycle at the set temperature but lasting longer.

The button is active with "COTTON" and "SYNTHETICS" programs.

EXTRA RINSE:

The washing machine has been built so that water consumption is reduced to a minimum. For areas with very soft water or in the case possible residues of detergent are noticed at the end of the cycle, pressing this button the machine will add three extra rinses.

ANTI-CREASE:

RYPISTYMISEN ESTO

When this button is pressed, at the end of the washing cycle the clothes in the washing machine continue to revolve for another thirty minutes reducing creases. With this function the maximum working spin speed is 800 rpm. The function does not work for the “WOOL” program.

N.B. Use of the optional functions is restricted by the type of program chosen; so, if the program does not allow the function, it will not be possible to enable the button (see PROGRAM TABLE).

MONITORING THE WASH:

The figure alongside shows the 4 main functions of a wash cycle:

PREWASH - MAIN WASH, RINSES, SPIN, END.

During the cycle, each of these functions is highlighted by a led informing the user what the washing machine is doing at that moment.

After the spin phase, the corresponding led will stay lit for approximately 2 minutes; this is the time lapse necessary before the door can be opened. At this point, the "END" led will light-up.
