How do I replace the battery in the remote?

Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to pry open the case at the slot near the key ring. Remove the old CR2016 batteries, insert new ones with correct polarity, and snap the case shut.

How can I program a new remote control?

Turn the ignition key to ON. Within 10 seconds, press and release the valet button once. Then press and hold the valet button until the LED flashes or horn honks. While holding, press the Lock button on the remote. Release the valet button and turn ignition OFF. The horn sounds one long honk to confirm.

How do I manually override the starter kill if I lose my remote?

Turn the ignition ON and press and release the valet button within 10 seconds. The vehicle should start. If not, turn ignition OFF and repeat. Locate the valet button with your installer.

Why won't my remote start activate?

Ensure the parking brake is set, hood is closed, brake pedal is not pressed, and the remote start shutoff switch is ON. Also check that the vehicle is in Park (automatic transmission). The remote start may require 1, 2, or 3 button presses as programmed.

How do I activate Panic Mode?

Press the Lock button for approximately 2 seconds. The horn will honk and parking lights will flash for 30 seconds. To stop, press Lock or Unlock on the remote.

Can I use this system in a manual transmission vehicle?

No. The 4105V is designed only for fuel injected, automatic transmission vehicles. Use in a manual transmission is dangerous and voids the product's intended use.

What is Pit Stop mode and how do I use it?

Pit Stop mode keeps the engine running when you leave the vehicle for short trips. Park in a ventilated area, set parking brake, press Remote Start button, turn off ignition and remove key. The engine continues running for the programmed runtime.

How does the timer mode work?

Press and hold the Lock and AUX buttons simultaneously. Parking lights flash 4 times, then engine starts. The system will start every 3 hours for up to 6 starts. Cancel by turning ignition ON or triggering a shutdown input.

What should I do if the remote range decreases?

Replace the remote batteries (two CR2016). Weak batteries reduce range and dim the transmit LED. If range is still poor, check for radio interference or consult your dealer.

Is the system water or heat resistant?

No. Keep the system dry and away from heat sources. Water or heat damage voids the warranty.

Remote control functions

The remote buttons are used to send commands to the system. The buttons indicated below are for standard configuration.

Standard configuration

Button

The lock function is controlled by pressing 🔒 on the remote control for one second. When held for approximately two seconds, Panic is activated.

Button

The unlocking function is controlled by pressing ◇ on the remote control for one second. You can also turn Panic off with this button.

AUX Button

Silent Mode™ and an optional auxiliary function are controlled by pressing AUX. Silent Mode works by pressing AUX less than one second before locking or unlocking. An optional auxiliary function such as trunk release may be controlled by pressing and holding AUX for approximately two seconds.

Button

The remote start function of your system is controlled by pressing this button for one second.

Car Finder is controlled by pressing these two buttons.

When simultaneously pressed these buttons control the optional rear window defogger during remote starting. The parking lights flash three times to confirm activation. Once activated the defogger will turn on whenever the vehicle is remote started.

The parking lights flash twice when the defogger is deactivated. The defogger does not turn on when the vehicle is remote started.

Important note: Defogger is an optional feature. Additional parts and labor may be required. See your Directed dealer for details.

Timer mode is activated when these buttons are pressed simultaneously. When you activate timer mode the parking lights flash four times, after a one second delay the engine starts. To turn the engine off, without exiting timer mode press the ✗.

The system remains in timer mode and will start every three hours for a maximum of six starts unless cancelled by turning on the ignition, or by activating any of the shutdown inputs to the system.

The parking lights flash four times indicating timer mode is exited.

Using the system

Locking

Pressing 📋 for one second locks the system (if the door locks are connected). The horn honks and the parking lights flash once to confirm the system is locked. The Failsafe® Starter Kill also activates and prevents the vehicle's starter from cranking.

Important note: Horn honk and Failsafe are both optional features.

Unlocking

Pressing ⚫ for one second unlocks the doors (if connected). The horn honks twice and the parking lights flash twice to confirm unlocking of the system. The Failsafe Starter Kill is deactivated.

Disabling (optional) Starter Kill

If your remote control is lost or damaged, you can manually override the starter kill. To do this, you must have the ve hi cle's ignition key and know where the Valet button is located. Be sure to check with the in-staller for the location of the Valet button.

To override the starter kill, turn the ignition on and press and release the valet button within 10 seconds. The vehicle should start. If it does not start, you may have waited too long; turn the ignition off and repeat the process.

Panic Mode

If you are threatened in or near your vehicle, you can attract attention by triggering the system with your remote control. Press for approximately two seconds to enter Panic Mode. In Panic Mode, the horn will honk and the parking lights will flash for 30 seconds. To stop Panic Mode at any time, press 📄, or 🔒 on the remote control.

Note: In order for Panic Mode to be effective, the vehicle's horn (or optional siren) and the vehicle's parking lights must be connected.

Remote Start

This feature allows you to remotely start and run your vehicle for a pro gram ma ble period of time. This makes it possible to warm up the engine, and adjust the interior tem per a ture of the ve hi cle with the climate control system. If interior heating or cooling is desired, the climate controls must be preset, and the fan blower must be set to the desired level prior to remote starting the vehicle.

Warning! (1) Never remote start your vehicle when the keys are in the ignition, except when performing Valet Take-Over, and (2) Never start the vehicle if it is not in PARK or NEUTRAL

To remote start the vehicle:

1. Make sure the parking brake is set. Press the ✕ button on the remote control once* (or the amount of times the system has been programmed to activate the remote start).
2. The parking lights flash to confirm that the vehicle is attempting to start. In gasoline vehicles the engine will start 4 seconds after the

parking lights flash, in diesel vehicles the engine starts after the WAIT-TO-START timer has expired.

1. Once the vehicle has started, it will run for the pre-program med period of time (12, 24, or 60 minutes) or until a shutdown input is triggered.

* The factory setting is one press but this can also be programmed for two or three presses maximum (See your authorized Directed installer for the amount of presses programmed).

Warning! It is unsafe to operate a vehicle's motor in a garage or other closed off area. Breathing the exhaust from the vehicle is hazardous to your health. Never activate the remote start in an enclosed space.

Key Takeover

When you are ready to drive the vehicle:

1. Unlock the doors.
2. Enter the vehicle. Do not step on the foot brake.
3. Insert the key, turn it to the run (not start) position. Step on the foot brake. The remote start is disabled and the parking lights turn off.
4. Disengage the parking brake and begin driving.

Safety Features

The following safety features will disable the remote start when activated or not allow the engine to start if not properly set before starting.

• Foot Brake is depressed
• Hood is opened
• Remote Start shutoff switch is OFF
• The pre-programmed run time (12, 24 or 60 minutes) has elapsed
• Remote Start activation procedure is repeated
• Parking brake is disengaged
  • Engine over-rev protection (Tachometer mode only)

Pit Stop

This remote start can keep the engine running during short trips away from the vehicle.

To enable Pit Stop mode:

1. Park in a well ventilated area.
2. With the engine running set the transmission in the park position and ensure the parking brake is set.
3. Press and release the ✗ button once (or the amount of times the system has been programmed to activate the remote start), the parking lights turn on to confirm.
4. Turn off the ignition and remove the key, the engine continues running.
5. Exit and secure the vehicle, the engine runs for the programmed runtime.

Important: This feature will not work if the brake pedal is being pressed.

Car Finder

Car finder allows you to locate your vehicle, by having the system flash the parking lights.

To activate:

1. Press and release the ✕ and AUX on at the same time.
2. The parking lights flash slowly several times, allowing you to locate your vehicle.

Optional Starter Anti-Grind Circuitry

This system includes an anti-grind circuit that can prevent damage to the starter motor if the key is turned to the start position while the remote start is ON.

Note: Anti-grind circuitry only works if an optional relay has been added and the remote is operating the motor.

Disabling the Remote Start System

When the Remote Start Shutoff switch is set to the OFF position, remote engine starting is defeated. DO this when the vehicle is being serviced or driven by someone unfamiliar with remote start system operations.

Remote Programming

Your system comes with the remote controls already programmed, however if you are replacing or adding additional remote controls, they must be programmed to the system prior to operating the system. To program the remote, you need to know where the valet button is located. If the horn honk is not connected, the main unit LED needs to be visible for visual confirmation. If you cannot locate or access the main unit, it is recommended that you visit your authorized dealer for remote programming. The system is capable of accepting up to four remote controls.

1. Turn key to the ON position
2. Within 10 seconds, press and release the valet button one time.
3. Within 10 seconds, press and hold the valet button. The LED on the module flashes one time and the horn (if connected) honks to confirm entry into remote programming. Do not release the valet button.
4. Press the 🔒 button on the remote control. The horn honks to confirm the remote has been programmed.
5. Release the valet button.
6. Turn the key to OFF position. The horn sounds one long honk to confirm that remote programming has been excited.

The programming routine exits if any of the following occurs:

• The ignition is turned off
• There is no activity for 30 seconds
- The Valet button is pressed too many times

Programming Options

Feature options will control your system's normal operation. Some options may require additional parts and installation labor. The following is a list of the programmable options with the factory settings in bold.

• 12 minute to 60 minute runtime. Your system can be programmed to allow the vehicle to run for up to 60 minutes when remote started. This can be set up to minute increments by your installer.
• Parking lights flashing or constant. Your system can be programmed to flash the parking lights or have them come on constantly during the remote start operation.
• Ignition switch controlled door locking ON or OFF. With this feature on, the doors will lock 3 seconds after the ignition key is turned on, and will unlock when the ignition key is turned off.

Important: The door lock option must be installed for the ignition controlled door lock feature to work.

Rapid Resume Logic

This Directed system stores its current state to non-volatile memory. If the power to the system is disconnected and then reconnected, the system recalls the stored state from memory.

Battery Information

The remote control is powered by two 3V, CR2016 batteries. When the battery begins to weaken, operating range is reduced and the LED on the remote control dims.

Replacing the Battery

1. Use a small flat blade screw driver and insert it into the slot located along the bottom of the remote, near the key ring. Carefully pry open the case.
2. Remove the old batteries from the holding clip. Orient the new batteries for the correct polarity and insert into the holding clip.
3. Reposition the case parts, then snap together by pressing firmly and evenly on the front and back.

Battery Disposal

Directed cares about the environment. If you need to dispose of the battery, please do so in accordance with your municipal requirements for battery disposal.

Remote Start Capable

When properly installed, this system can start the vehicle via a command signal from the remote control. Therefore, never operate the system in an enclosed area or partially enclosed area without ventilation (such as a garage). When parking in an enclosed or partially enclosed area or when having the vehicle serviced, the remote start system must be disabled using the installed toggle switch. It is the user's sole responsibility to properly handle and keep out of reach from children all remote control devices to assure that the system does not unintentionally remote start the vehicle. THE USER MUST INSTALL A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR IN OR ABOUT THE LIVING AREA ADJACENT TO THE VEHICLE. ALL DOORS LEADING FROM ADJACENT LIVING AREAS TO THE ENCLOSED OR PARTIALLY ENCLOSED VEHICLE STORAGE AREA MUST AT ALL TIMES REMAIN CLOSED. These precautions are the sole responsibility of the user.

Use of this product in a manner contrary to its intended mode of operation may result in property damage, personal injury, or death. (1) Never remotely start the vehicle with the vehicle in gear, and (2) Never remotely start the vehicle with the keys in the ignition. The user must also have the neutral safety feature of the vehicle periodically checked, wherein the vehicle must not remotely start while the car is in gear. If the vehicle starts in gear, cease remote start operation immediately and consult with the authorized Directed dealer to fix the problem.

After the remote start module has been installed, contact your authorized dealer to have him or her test the remote start module by performing the Safety Check outlined in the product installation guide. If the vehicle starts when performing the Neutral Safety Shutdown Circuit test, the remote start unit has not been properly installed. The remote start module must be removed or the installer must properly reinstall the remote start system so that the vehicle does not start in gear. All installations must be performed by an authorized Directed dealer.

OPERATION OF THE REMOTE START MODULE IF THE VEHICLE STARTS IN GEAR IS

CONTRARY TO ITS INTENDED MODE OF OPERATION. OPERATING THE REMOTE START SYSTEM UNDER THESE CONDITIONS MAY RESULT IN PROPERTY DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY. YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY CEASE THE USE OF THE UNIT AND SEEK THE ASSISTANCE OF AN AUTHORIZED Directed DEALER TO REPAIR OR DISCONNECT THE INSTALLED REMOTE START MODULE. This product is designed for fuel injected vehicles only. Use of this product in a standard transmission vehicle must be in strict accordance with this guide. Water/Heat Resistance

This product is not designed to be water and/or heat-resistant. Please take care to keep this product dry and away from heat sources. Any damage from water or heat will void the warranty.

Limited lifetime consumer warranty

Directed Electronics. ("Directed") promises to the original purchaser to repair or replace (at Directed's election) with a comparable reconditioned model any Directed unit (hereafter the "unit"), excluding without limitation the siren, the remote transmitters, the associated sensors and accessories, which proves to be defective in workmanship or material under reasonable use during the lifetime of the vehicle provided the following conditions are met: the unit was purchased from an authorized Directed dealer, the unit was professionally installed and serviced by an authorized Directed dealer; the unit will be professionally reinstalled in the vehicle in which it was originally installed by an authorized Directed dealer; and the unit is returned to Directed, shipping prepaid with a legible copy of the bill of sale or other dated proof of purchase bearing the following information: consumer's name, telephone number and address; the authorized dealers name, telephone number and address; complete product description, including accessories; the year, make and model of the vehicle; vehicle license number and vehicle identification number.
