Frequently Asked Questions - RB38C600ES9 SAMSUNG

How do I adjust the temperature on my Samsung RB38C600ES9 freezer?
Tap any button on the control panel to wake the display, then press to select the freezer. Use < or > to choose a temperature between -15°C and -23°C. Confirm by tapping or waiting for the indicator to stop blinking.
What is Power Freeze and how do I use it?
Power Freeze speeds up freezing at maximum fan speed for 50 hours. Activate it by selecting Power Freeze on the freezer control panel. For large amounts of food, activate it at least 20 hours before. Note that energy consumption increases.
How do I connect my freezer to the SmartThings app?
Download the SmartThings app from Google Play or Apple App Store, create a Samsung account, and follow the in-app instructions to add your device. Ensure your Wi-Fi router is on 2.4 GHz band with WPA/TKIP or WPA2/AES encryption.
Why is my freezer making unusual noises?
Normal sounds include: a hum from the compressor, gurgling from refrigerant, clicking from the defrost timer, and knocking from plastic expansion. These are not defects. If you hear persistent loud noises, check that the freezer is level and not touching walls.
How do I clean the freezer interior?
Unplug the freezer. Remove all food and shelves. Use a soft cloth dampened with warm water and mild detergent to wipe interior surfaces. Avoid abrasive cleaners, benzene, or thinner. Dry thoroughly before plugging back in.
Can I reverse the door opening direction?
Yes, but Samsung recommends using an authorized service provider. The process involves moving hinges and handles, and reversing door gaskets. See the manual for detailed steps. Attempting it yourself may cause damage or injury.
What does the temperature alarm mean?
If the freezer temperature is too warm (e.g., after a power failure), the display will blink. Tap any button to see the highest temperature reached. This alarm also sounds if the door is left open for more than 2 minutes.
How often should I clean the rear panel?
Vacuum the rear panel and compressor cover once or twice a year to remove dust. This helps maintain energy efficiency. Do not remove the rear panel cover.
Is the LED lamp replaceable?
No, the LED lamp is not user-serviceable. If it fails, contact a Samsung service center for replacement. Do not attempt to replace it yourself to avoid electric shock.
What should I do if there is a power failure?
Minimize door openings. Most failures under 2 hours do not affect temperatures. For longer outages, remove and discard frozen food. If the freezer is left empty for weeks, unplug, defrost, clean, and leave doors open to prevent mold.

The amount of refrigerant in your particular appliance is shown on the identification plate inside the appliance.

- Refrigerant squirting out of the pipes could ignite or cause an eye injury. When refrigerant leaks from the pipe, avoid any naked flames and move anything flammable away from the product and ventilate the room immediately.

- Failing to do so may result in fire or explosion.

- To avoid contamination of food, please respect the following instructions:

- Opening the door for long periods can cause a significant increase of the temperature in the compartments of the appliance.

- Clean regularly surfaces that can come in contact with food and accessible drainage systems.

- Clean water tanks if they have not been used for 48 h; flush the water system connected to a water supply if water has not been drawn for 5 days.

English24

Additional tips for proper usage

  • In the event of a power failure, call the local office of your electric company and ask how long the failure is going to last.
  • Most power failures that are corrected in an hour or two will not affect your refrigerator temperatures. However, you should minimize the number of door openings while the power is off.
  • Should the power failure last more than 24 hours, remove and discard all frozen food.
  • The refrigerator might not operate consistently (frozen contents can thaw or temperatures can become too warm in the frozen food compartment) if sited for an extended period of time in a location where ambient air temperatures are constantly below the temperatures for which the appliance is designed.
  • In case of particular foods, keeping it under refrigeration can have a bad effect on preservation due to its properties.
  • Your appliance is frost free, which means there is no need to manually defrost your appliance. This will be carried out automatically.
  • Temperature rise during defrosting complies with ISO requirements. If you want to prevent an undue rise in the temperature of frozen food while the appliance defrosts, wrap the frozen food in several layers of newspaper.
  • Do not re-freeze frozen foods that have thawed completely.
