1. Important safety instructions
Carefully read the entire user's manual before using the device and understand the safety measures and detailed operating instructions for the device. Store the user's manual in a safe place for future reference. If you sell the device do not forget to provide the user's manual to the new owner together with the device and its accessories.
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE!!!
Using the breathalyser immediately after or within 15 minutes of consuming alcohol may damage the detection sensor and there is a danger of future measurements being inaccurate. Unprofessional operation of this device is not covered by the warranty.
We recommend to store and use the device at room temperature. Using and storing at other temperatures may affect the measurement accuracy.
Do not perform tests in strong winds or in a closed room, which is filled with cigarette smoke or contains alcohol vapours.
- If the flat batteries symbol appears on the display, recharge the device.
- Do not blow smoke, food or liquids into the mouthpiece.
- Using in environment outside the specified limits may lead to damage to the device and inaccurate test results.
- The level of alcohol in the breath depends on many factors and changes with time. The level can change already several minutes after the initial test.
- The measurement results of this device cannot be used as evidence in legal proceedings.
- The information obtained using this device is only informative in nature. We recommend that it is not used for making decisions about the ability to perform any activity requiring responsibility. Several factors (e.g. natural gas remains, smoke and undesirable breath) may influence the level of the measured values.
- Do not allow yourself or anybody else to drive a vehicle after consuming alcohol. Do not transport a person under the influence of alcohol who may be actively involved in driving the vehicle (in particular by pedalling, braking, adversely affecting the balance of the vehicle or similar).
- Neither the vendor nor the manufacturer are responsible for damages caused by the use of this device.
NEVER DRINK ALCOHOL IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO DRIVE A MOTOR VEHICLE!!!
2. Measurement
- The SCA BA40FC Personal Breathalyser is a hand-held non-certified measuring device, the measured value may differ from that of a certified device. As the electrochemical sensor with a fuel cell utilises electrochemical reaction of the platinum with the ethanol molecules, the SCA BA40FC Personal Breathalyser represents a stable and reliable measurement technology.
• Refrain from drinking alcohol and smoking at least 15 minutes before measurement. - Wash your mouth with water before use.
Recommendation:
For the most accurate measurements, we recommend replacing the internal measuring module with a new pre-calibrated one after prolonged use of the instrument. This horizon is not precise, we recommend e.g. after 1–2 years of use or after 1–2 thousand measurements.
Please contact your dealer or directly the authorized service centre of SERVIS FAST, ČR, a.s. Technicka 1701, Ričany u Prahy, phone: +420 323 204 120, email: servis@fastcr.cz. This new module will be charged with the current rate.
3. Battery Installation
- Please insert one AAA (LRO3) 1.5 V alkaline battery into the new device.
Insert the battery according to the marked diagram in the battery compartment under the cover.
- If there is not enough energy in the battery to test for alcohol, the battery indicator will be flashing. Then, change the battery immediately please.

If the sample taking was successful, "Anly" will be flashing (analysis in progress) and then the relevant measured valued will be shown. If the blowing time was too short or if the air flow is too fine or intermittent, the LCD display will show "FLO".
- You can press the ON/OFF once for a new test.
- The test result will be shown on LCD for about 60 seconds.
