Frequently Asked Questions - SCA BA01 V2 SENCOR

How do I perform a breath test?
Wait for the preheat phase (about 25 seconds) until the display shows READY and the BLOW indicator flashes. Then press and hold the START button and blow steadily into the tube for at least 6 seconds until a short sound signal is heard. Release the button and read the result.
What do the display symbols and colors mean?
PH = preheat; Wait = countdown; READY = device prepared; BLOW = blow now. Result: 0.0 (green backlight) = low value <0.1‰; numeric value with NO DRIVING flashing and alternating green/red backlight = warning (≥0.2‰); HI and NO DRIVING = high value >4‰.
Why does the device show 'Er' error?
The Er error indicates incorrect handling, such as not pressing and holding the START button during the test. Press any button to stop the error sound signal and try again.
How often should I calibrate or check accuracy?
It is recommended to have the accuracy of the device tested after one year of use. With more frequent use, the sensor lifetime may be used up and results may become inaccurate.
Can I use the breathalyzer immediately after drinking alcohol?
No, you must wait at least 15 minutes after consuming alcohol before testing. Using it sooner can damage the detection sensor and cause inaccurate future measurements.
How do I clean the device?
Rinse your mouth with clean water before use. To clean the sensor, use the auto-cleaning function: remove and reinsert batteries to start a 5-minute cleaning cycle. Also, avoid blowing smoke, food, or liquids into the mouthpiece.
What is the auto-cleaning function and when should I use it?
Auto-cleaning removes residual alcohol from the sensor. It is recommended if the device has not been used for more than 2 weeks. To start, remove and reinsert batteries; the cycle takes about 5 minutes and ends with a sound signal.
What should I do when the low battery icon appears?
Replace both batteries immediately with new AAA alkaline batteries. Using the device with a low battery may lead to inaccurate measurements.
Can I use the breathalyzer in extreme temperatures?
Use the device only in an environment with temperatures between +10°C and +40°C. Operating outside this range may damage the device and produce incorrect test results.
Are the measurement results legally admissible in court?
No, the results are informative only and cannot be used as evidence in legal proceedings. Do not rely solely on this device to decide if you are fit to drive.
