How do I perform the first installation?

After connecting the set-top box, the initial installation window appears. Use the ▲▼ buttons to select menu items like OSD language, country, and channel search. Press OK to start automatic channel search.

How can I search for channels manually?

Go to Menu > Channel Search > Manual Search. Use the numeric keys to enter frequency and symbol rate, then press OK to start.

How do I reset the receiver to factory defaults?

Go to Menu > System > Restore Factory Default. Confirm with OK. All settings will be lost, and the receiver restarts with initial installation.

What should I do if the remote control stops working?

Check batteries (replace both). Ensure the remote is aimed at the receiver and no obstructions. If the front panel LED shows time, press POWER to exit standby. If still not working, try replacing batteries.

How do I change the password?

Go to Menu > System > Set Password. Enter the default password (000000), then enter a new password twice to confirm.

How can I update the firmware?

Download the latest firmware from www.megasat.tv to a USB stick. Insert into the USB port. Go to Menu > System > Software Update > USB upgrade. Select the firmware file (e.g., firmware.bin) and press OK. Do not disconnect power during update.

How do I play media files via USB?

Copy music, photos, or movies to a USB stick. Insert into the front USB port. Go to Menu > USB and Apps > Multimedia. Select Music, Photo, or Movie category. Use remote control buttons to control playback.

How do I set parental guidance?

Go to Menu > System > Parental Guidance (enter password). Select age limit from OFF to 4-18. Programs exceeding the age limit will require password entry.

What is the default password?

The default password is 000000 (six zeros). It is used for parental guidance and locked channels.

How do I connect the receiver to the internet?

Connect a LAN cable from your router to the LAN port on the back of the receiver. Go to Menu > System > Network Setting. Enable DHCP for automatic IP assignment. If needed, disable DHCP and enter IP settings manually.

Please read the manual thoroughly before operating the equipment. In case of incorrect or improper handling, the warranty becomes void.

Power supply: Before start please check the correct operation voltage of the power point. The operating voltage of this device is AC 220\~240V,50/60Hz

Overload: Do not overload a wall outlet, extension cord or adapter, neither use damaged power cord or touch it with wet hand as this may result in electric shock.

Liquid: The device shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing water, and that no objects filled with liquids, such as base, shall be placed on the apparatus.

Ventilation: Keep the slots on top of the receiver uncover to allow sufficient airflow to the unit. Do not expose the receiver to direct light or do not place it near a heater or in humid conditions. Do no stack other electronic equipments on top of the receiver.

Risk of suffocation: Do not let children play with films or other packaging components, there is a risk of suffocation.

Cleaning: Plug out the receiver from the wall outlet before cleaning. Clean the receiver by a soft cloth or mild solution of washing-up liquid (no solvents).

Uncover: Do not remove the cover, to reduce the risk of electric shock. Contact qualified and licensed service personnel to repair the receiver, or contact your dealer.

3. Connect the set-top box

1. Connect the coaxial cable to the cable connector and the antenna input on the set-top box.
2. Connect the HDMI or Scart cable with your TV.
3. Make sure that the corresponding input signal is selected on your TV (for example: HDMI 1).

Note:

Recommended is always the connection over an HDMI cable, since HDMI in contrast to Scart a digital, loss-free picture to the television transmits.

After you have connected all required components and the set-top box starts, the window with the initial installation appears.

Use the ▲▼ buttons to select a menu item. Then press the OK button to make the appropriate settings.

OSD language Select the menu language.

Country Select the country in which you are located.

Channel Search Press OK to start the channel search.

EXIT Cancels the installation.

After the automatic search is started, will be searched for channels. Channels found are automatically inserted into the program list.

The basic navigation in the menu is done with the ▲▼ buttons (up/down) or with the ◀▶ buttons (right/left). To enter a menu item, press the OK button. To exit a menu item, press EXIT. Press the EXIT key again to exit the entire menu.

The main menu consists of 7 submenus:

5.1 Program

Program Edit

In this menu item, you can move, skip, lock, delete, rename, or assign favorite groups. You can create up to 4 favorite groups.

Move (RED button)

Select a channel with the ▲▼ buttons and then press the RED button to highlight it. Now move this channel anywhere in the channel list. Then press OK to place the channel. Repeat the process with other channels to adjust the channel list to your needs.

Skip (GREEN button)

Select a channel, then press the GREEN button to skip the channel by scrolling through the channel list. The channel is marked with a green symbol (SKIP).

Lock (YELLOW button)

Select a channel, then press the YELLOW button to lock the channel. You will be prompted to enter a password (default: 000000). The channel is then blocked in the channel list (indicated by the blue lock symbol). To access this channel, enter the password.

Delete (BLUE button)

Select a channel, then press the BLUE button to delete the channel. You are asked if you really want to delete. Confirm with OK or press EXIT to cancel the operation.

Favorites (FAV)

Select a channel, then press the FAV key to assign the channel to one or more favorite lists. There are 4 favorite groups available (film, news, sports and music). For example, select Movie to assign the channel to the favorite group (The favorite group is marked with a star symbol.

Press EXIT to return to the channel list. Repeat the process with all the other channels you want to assign to favorite lists. In normal TV mode, press the FAV button to enter the favorite lists. Use the ◀▶ buttons to switch between the different favorites lists. The channels that you have marked as favorites appear under each category.

To delete a channel from the favorites list, press Disable in the Favorites groups selection.

Rename (RECALL)

Select a channel, then press the RECALL button to rename the channel. A new window appears to change the channel name. Confirm the new entry with OK in the input window.

EPG

The electronic program guide is displayed in this menu item. You can also access this menu item by pressing the EPG button on the remote control.

Use the ◀▶ buttons to switch between channels. Use the ▲▼ buttons to access the individual programs. On the right side of the screen, you will then see information about the programs. Scroll up and down with the YELLOW and BLUE buttons to read the complete information.

Sort

In this menu item you can arrange the channels automatically. Choose between ONID (Network Identification), Name, Service ID or LNC (logical sender sorting).

LCN

Select ON to enable automatic sender sorting. This option is not available in any region.

Please note that consecutive numbering is only possible with the LCN switched off and by the ONID.

5.2 Picture 5.3 Channel Search

In this menu item, you can make various settings for the picture. Adjust the aspect ratio, the resolution to the TV or the TV format as desired.

Aspect ratio

Choose the right aspect ratio. Select between AUTO, 16: 9 or 4: 3.

Resolution (HDMI)

Select the resolution that your TV can play. If you choose a higher resolution, it can come to a black screen. Choose between 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i or 1080p (Full HD).

TV Format

Choose between PAL and NTSC. European TVs have the TV standard PAL.

Video output (SCART)

Choose between RGB and composite.

In this menu item you can search for channels (automatic or manual). Enable or disable the antenna supply. Save or load the station list to a USB stick.

Auto Search

Starts the automatic channel search.

Manual Search

Here you can manually search for channels. Use the numeric keys to enter the frequency and symbol rate of the channels to be searched. Then start the search with OK.

Note:

The current signal strength and quality are displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Full Scan

In Full Scan, you can enter a start and end frequency instead of a frequency. Stations are then searched in this area.

Backup to USB

Confirm with OK to save the current channel list to a USB device.

Backup from USB

Confirm with OK to load the previously saved channel list from the USB device. The channel list must be located in the main directory of the USB device and can not be moved into any subfolder.

5.4 Time 5.5 Option

In this menu item you can make various settings over time. Change the time zone or auto standby.

Time offset

Select Auto to set the time zone automatically. Select Manual to manually set the time zone.

Country Region

If the automatic time adjustment is activated, select your region in which you are located.

Time Zone

When manual time compensation is activated, select your time zone in which you are located (eg Berlin = MGZ +1).

Auto Standby

Select when the set-top box should turn off (standby mode) when no operation is performed on the unit or on the remote control. Select between OFF or 1-12 hours.

In this menu item, you can make various settings such as menu language, subtitle language or audio language.

OSD language

Select the desired language from the on-screen menu.

Subtitles language

Select the desired subtitle language. The subtitles are dependent on the respective station, or broadcasting and are not always available.

Audio language

Select the desired language of the audio track. The audio language is dependent on the respective transmitter, or transmission and can not always be changed.

Digital Audio

Select between OFF, PCM and RAW.

5.6 System

In this menu item, you can set up various child safety devices, reset the set-top box to the factory setting or load a new firmware.

Parental guidance

To enter this menu item, enter the password (the default password is 000000). Select the age limit. Select between OFF, 4-18). If, for example, you select age limit 6 and a program with age limit 12 is broadcast, the password must be entered in order to activate the channel. This function depends on the respective region or station.

Set password

Here you can assign a new password. Enter the default password, then the new password. To confirm, repeat the new password.

Restore factory default

If you want to reset the receiver to the delivery state, confirm this menu item with OK. The receiver then starts with the initial installation.

ATTENTION: All settings you have made will be lost!

Information

In this menu item various information about the set-top box is displayed (model name, software version, software date, hardware version).

Software Update

Select this option if a new firmware is available. The latest firmware is always on our homepage www.megasat.tv.

1. Copy the new firmware to a USB stick and plug it into the USB slot on the front of the set-top box.
2. Select "USB upgrade", then a new window will appear in which the new firmware is located (eg firmware.bin).
3. Select Firmware with the ▲▼ keys and confirm with OK to start the update process. WARNING: Never disconnect the power supply to the set-top box during the update process!
4. After a successful update, the set-top box restarts.

Network setting

In this menu item, you can make various network settings if you have connected a LAN cable.

Link Type (LAN)

Once you have plugged in a LAN cable and connected it to your Internet router, an Internet connection is usually established automatically. The DHCP option should be enabled for the IP settings to be assigned automatically. If you disable DHCP, you must set the IP settings yourself. This option is recommended only for experienced users.

5.7 USB and Apps

In this menu item you will find the multimedia menu, settings for playback and various Internet apps.

Multimedia

The USB port on the set-top box allows you to play music, photos, and movies. Copy the data to a suitable USB stick and plug it into the USB port on the front of the receiver. After the USB stick has been detected, you can switch to one of the three categories.

Buttons to control playback

If you switch to one of the three categories, all playable files are listed. Press OK to switch to a subfolder, and RETURN will return you to a folder. Grip the top control panel on the remote control to control the music playback.

USB configure

If you have inserted a USB device, you can retrieve information such as size and file system. You can format the USB device under "Format" and delete all data on it.

6. Troubleshooting 7. Specifications

You might meet abnormal working of this set-top box with various reasons. Check the following which may help you.

Problem Possible causes What to do ?
LED on the front panel fail to light up/s is not lit.	Main supply cable is not connected. Check if the main supply cable is plugged into the power socket.
Bad or jerky images. The HDMI-C reception may be too weak.	Make sure the coaxial cable is properly connected and no damage. Otherwise, please check with your cable supplier whether there is a fault in the network.
No auto start screen when starting the set-too box.	The set top box is connected via HDMI, but the TV is not in the correct HDMI mode.	Switch the TV to the correct HDMI mode (eg HDMI 1).
The remote control is not working.	Battery exhausted. Remote control is not aimed correctly STB is in standby mode.	Change the batteries (both). Aim the remote control at the STB. Check that nothing blocks the front panel. Check if LED indicator on the front panel is showing the time, press the power button to switch off standby mode.
You have forgotten your password.		The default password is: 000000. Contact the dealer or Service Provider. They will help you set it up again.
