How do I set up my Hive Hub?

Plug in the hub using the provided micro USB cable and power adapter. Connect the hub to your Wi-Fi router via Ethernet or wait for it to connect wirelessly. Download the Hive app and follow the on-screen instructions to pair the hub. You'll need to create or log in to your Hive account.

Does the Hive Hub work with all Hive devices?

Yes, the Hive Hub is designed to work with all Hive smart home devices including thermostats, lights, plugs, sensors, and alarms. Some older devices may require a firmware update.

What should I do if the hub is not connecting to Wi-Fi?

Make sure your Wi-Fi is on the 2.4 GHz band (the hub does not support 5 GHz). Restart your router and the hub. If the issue persists, perform a factory reset by inserting a paperclip into the reset hole for 10 seconds. Then set up the hub again in the app.

Can I control the Hive Hub without internet?

No, the Hive Hub requires an active internet connection for remote access and app control. However, local actions like scheduled routines may still work if the hub is connected to your local network, but automated rules reliant on cloud services won't function without internet.

How many devices can I connect to the Hive Hub?

The Hive Hub can support up to 50 devices simultaneously. If you need more, consider adding additional hubs.

How do I reset the Hive Hub to factory settings?

Locate the small reset hole on the back or bottom of the hub. Insert a paperclip or similar tool and press and hold the button inside for about 10 seconds until the LED flashes amber. Release the button. The hub will reboot and return to factory defaults.

Does the Hive Hub work with Apple HomeKit?

Yes, the Hive Hub supports Apple HomeKit via the Hive app. You can add the hub to the Apple Home app and control your devices using Siri. Make sure you have the latest firmware on the hub.

Why is my Hive Hub LED flashing red?

A flashing red LED indicates a connection issue. It could mean the hub lost connection to your Wi-Fi or the Hive servers. Check your internet connection and restart the hub. If the problem continues, try resetting the hub.

Can I use the Hive Hub without the Hive app?

The Hive app is required for initial setup and full functionality. However, after setup, you can control devices via voice assistants or smart home platforms (HomeKit, Alexa, Google) without opening the app every time.

Let's get started setting up your account. Just download the Hive app or visit hivehome.com/register to enter in your details. Once your account has been confirmed, you can login through the Hive app and start pairing your devices*.

Your Hive Hub

Your hub is the heart of your Hive system. It lets your devices talk to each other and allows you to control them from your smartphone, tablet or laptop anytime, anywhere.

Getting started:

1 Connect your hub

- Connect your hub to your broadband router using the Ethernet cable in the box.

- Connect your hub to a mains power socket using the power cable in the box.

- For the hub to work at its best you should avoid placing it on the floor or in an enclosed area such as a cupboard. A table or shelf are better options, if possible.

2 Activate your hub

Log in to the Hive app, select Hub or log in at hivehome.com and enter the hub ID when prompted. This is the ABC-123 formatted number on the underside of the hub.

3 That's it!

You can now pair your other Hive devices by tapping Install devices in the app or online dashboard.

Remember: For your Hive devices to work correctly your hub must be kept plugged in and switched on.

Usage

Your Hive Hub is designed for UK household wiring and for indoor use only.

Maintenance

Disconnect your Hive Hub before cleaning and keep it away from water and other liquids at all times. The hub does not contain any serviceable parts so do not attempt to open it.
