1. Safety

General safety instructions for cordless power tools

Warning! Read all instructions. Failure to adhere to the following instructions may lead to electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. The term “power tools” in the warning text below refers to your handheld mains operated or battery operated tool. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

The work area

• Keep the work area clean and well illuminated. Cluttered and poorly lit areas invite accidents.
• Do not use electrical power tools in explosive environments, e.g. close to flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools generate sparks that can easily ignite dust or fumes.
• Keep children and other bystanders away from the area where you are using the power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose your concentration and control.

Electrical safety

• The power tool's plug must fit correctly into the wall socket. Never modify the plug in any way. Never use an adaptor together with earthed power tools. Unmodified plugs and suitable wall sockets decrease the risk of electric shock.
• Avoid physical contact with earthed objects, such as pipes, radiators, ovens or refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electrical shock if your body is earthed.

• Do not expose the power tool to rain or other wet conditions. If water gets inside a power tool it increases the risk of electric shock.

• Do not abuse the lead. Never use the lead to carry the tool or pull the plug from the wall socket. Keep the lead away from heat, oil, sharp edges and movable parts. Damaged or tangled leads increase the risk of electric shock.

• When using power tools outdoors, use an extension lead that is suitable for this purpose. Use of an extension lead designed for outdoor use decreases the risk for electric shock.
• If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

Personal safety

• Pay attention to your actions and use common sense when using power tools. Never use power tools if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. One moment of inattention while using a power tool may result in serious injury.
• Use protective equipment. Always wear safety glasses. Using protective clothing such as dust masks, non-slip safety shoes, helmets and ear defenders when needed decreases the risk of injury.
• Avoid accidental starts. Make sure that the power switch is set to OFF before plugging the tool into a wall socket. Never carry a power tool with your finger on the trigger and never connect the power tool to a wall socket when the switch is set to ON, since it may result in injury.
• Remove all service tools/keys before switching on the power tool. A service tool left on a moving part of the power tool may result in injury.
• Do not overreach. Make sure you stand steady and well balanced at all times. This will allow you to have more control in unexpected situations.
• Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery. Keep hair, clothes and gloves away from moving parts. Loose-fitting clothes, jewellery or long hair could become caught in moving parts.
• If equipment for dust extraction or collection is available, make sure that it is connected and used properly. The use of extractors decreases dust related hazards.

Use and maintenance of power tools

• Do not force the power tool. Use a power tool suitable for the work you are about to perform. The proper power tool will perform the task better and safer if used at the correct feed rate.
• Never use the power tool if the power switch does not switch the tool on and off properly. All power tools that cannot be controlled by the power switch are dangerous and must be repaired.

• Unplug the lead from the wall socket before making any adjustments, changing accessories or storing the power tool. These precautions reduce the risk of the power tool starting unexpectedly.

• Store any power tools that are not being used out of children's reach. Do not allow people who are unfamiliar with the tool or its functions to operate the tool. Power tools can be dangerous if they fall into the hands of inexperienced users.

• Maintaining power tools. Check for any incorrect settings, parts that catch, broken parts or anything else which may cause the power tool to malfunction. If something is damaged it must be repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
• Keep tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp blades are less likely to jam and are easier to control.
• Use the power tool, accessories and similar according to the instructions and in an appropriate way suitable for the type of power tool used. Also take into consideration your work environment and the type of work to be done. Using the power tool for a purpose other than that for which it is intended could result in a dangerous situation.

Use and service of cordless electrical hand tools

• Make sure that the power switch is set to OFF before attaching the battery. Attaching a battery to an electrical hand tool when the power switch set to ON is inviting an accident.
• Only charge the battery using a charger approved by the manufacturer. A charger suitable for one type of battery can constitute a fire hazard if used for another type of battery.
• Only use the rechargeable electric hand tool with batteries intended for that purpose. The use of other types of batteries might cause damage or fire.
• When not in use, the battery should be stored away from other metal objects such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or any small objects that could bridge the gap between the battery terminals. Short circuiting the battery terminals can cause burns or fires.
• If the battery is mistreated, it may leak acid; avoid contact with this acid. If you accidentally come into contact with the acid, rinse the area with water. If the acid comes into contact with your eyes, consult a doctor. Battery acid can cause irritation and burns.

Service

- Repairs and service should only be performed by qualified tradesmen, and only with original spare parts. This guarantees that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Specific safety regulations for cordless power tools

• Use only the charger supplied with the product. The charger is only intended for indoor use.
• Allow a hot battery to cool off before starting to charge it. The temperature when charging should be between 0 °C and 40 °C, (20–25 °C is recommended for best results).
• If the battery is charged at a temperature below 0 °C it may lead to overcharging which may damage the tool. The battery cannot be charged in temperatures above 40 °C . The battery gives full power after 5 charges/discharges.
• Allow the charger to cool off for 15 minutes before charging the next battery. Do not charge more than 2 batteries in succession without allowing the charger to cool.
• Make sure that no foreign objects get inside the tool through the battery opening. Avoid short-circuits; cover the battery terminals with an insulating material if the battery is stored separately.
• Never dismantle the rechargeable battery or the charger.
• Make sure that the rechargeable battery does not short-circuit; it may damage the battery and lead to personal injury if the battery explodes.
• The battery can explode if it is exposed to fire or high heat. Never throw the battery into a fire. Never expose the battery to strong sunlight.
• Check before drilling floors, ceilings, or walls, that there are no hidden electric cables, water pipes or anything else that may be damaged. Use e.g. a metal detector.
  • Always lock the forward/reverse selector before changing drill bits.

3. Charging

N.B. The mains charger is only intended for indoor use.

• Press in the two battery release tabs (9) and remove the battery from the drill/driver.
• Plug the mains adaptor (2) into a wall socket and connect the lead to the charging station (1).
• Place the battery into the charging station and push it down as far as it will go. The green LED will come on if the battery is correctly inserted, the mains adaptor is connected and the battery has begun charging.
• Charge the battery for 3-5 hours and then remove the battery from the charging station. Unplug the mains adaptor to turn the charger off.

N.B. The charger does not have an automatic shut-off.

4. Use

Forward/reverse

• Choose the desired tool (screwdriver bit, drill bit, etc.), insert it into the quick chuck and tighten.
• The machine is started and stopped by holding or releasing the power trigger (7).
• Change the direction of rotation as follows: Release the power trigger (7) and let the chuck come to a complete stop. Set the forward/reverse selector (6) to the desired position.
• Press in the selector (6) on the left-hand side for anticlockwise rotation .
• Press in the selector (6) on the right-hand side for clockwise rotation ⬇.
• Set the forward/reverse selector to the middle position (neutral) when the machine is not being used.

Setting the torque

• The machine has an adjustable clutch for setting the desired torque using the setting ring (4). The correct torque setting will prevent screws from being overtightened.
• The torque setting depends upon the type of screw, its size and the type of material used. Always start on a low torque setting and increase in stages until the desired result is achieved.

Quick chuck

• The machine is equipped with a keyless quick chuck.
- Hold the silver-coloured collar with one hand and twist the front collar with the other hand to tighten or undo the chuck.

Stepless variable speed control

• Very useful for screws. The more the power trigger is pressed, the greater the speed of the chuck.
• The drill/driver has an electric brake which operates when you release the trigger and stops the chuck quickly.

Gear selector (low/high)

• Set the desired gear using the gear selector (5) on top of the machine.

6. The environment

Follow your local regulations regarding disposal. Do not throw used batteries in the dustbin, follow local recycling procedures. Cover the battery's terminals with insulating material to prevent it from short-circuiting when it has been disposed of.

Defective and used batteries must be handed in for recycling. Used batteries must not be thrown into fire or water.
